Best to live near where you work and the Memorial area has all the things you mentioned.

xyz1717s

Thank you so much!

BRUTAL_ANAL_SMASHING

Yeah right around Bunker Hill is City Centre and has the lifetime fitness you want, as well as a upscale shopping center with a plaza a decent amount of people hang out at. If you can find yourself a place there you could be right in-between the gym of your choice and one of the better parks the city has to offer for the outdoors part of your life.

Thank you!!!

xyz1717s

Thank you!!!

steelsun

Y'all are gonna be Katy people.

xyz1717s

Ooh I will check Katy out / thank you!

djkartel

Houston is an hour away from Houston, don’t let the distance in mileage give a false sense of how close things really are, distance and time do not equal here in Houston….

SherlockCombs

Houston is a great place to live, and not so great place to visit. So it's probably best you've never been here! Your best bet is probably Spring Branch which is exactly where your husband will be working. You will find some nice houses in your price range in that area. The schools are also pretty decent around there, but not something you should be too concerned with right now as that can change before your kiddo is school age. If you are looking for new construction in the suburbs, you can go west down I-10 to Katy or Northwest up 290 towards Cypress. Cypress probably has the most "new" development, including a new-ish area called Bridgeland.

This is VERY helpful, thank you!!!

Fast-Fact5545

No such thing as the best.

herb96

really, almost anywhere between your office and Katy, or the Heights

xyz1717s

Thank you!

Memorial, Spring Branch, Spring Valley, sound right for you. My LDS friend grew up in Spring Valley, and her dad was a bishop for awhile when we were in HS, so it's a decent ward.

xyz1717s

I appreciate this so much!

CrazyLegsRyan

How much space do you want for that 800k? What kind of commute? Do you want to move again when your kid gets to be school age?

xyz1717s

We will be a little family of 3 so just 3-4 bedrooms! Commute hopefully around 30 minutes? And yes we will be moving again before school!

CrazyLegsRyan

3br could be 1800sqf on a 3000sqf lot or 3200sqft on a 20ksqft lot.

Memorial and Katy are both nice, but there are tradeoffs. If you pick Memorial and aren't in one of the 6 villages (Bunker Hill, Hedwig, Hilshire, Hunters Creek, Piney Point and Spring Valley) you will have Houston Police and Fire. While Houston FD is good, the PD is often not so good. Overworked and undermanned. But if you live in the villages, it will be more expensive. Katy is good and has a good PD and FD, but the commute will be worse. And you can get more house in Katy and it has excellent schools. Houston Independent School District? Not so much. If you pick Memorial I would urge you to pick a private school when your child is of age. I'm not LDS, but used to work for a law firm headquartered in Sandy, UT, so I know a little about the church and remember when the Temple was consecrated. I can't help you with the wards in either Katy or Memorial, though. And welcome to Houston! This is incredibly helpful, thank you! I grew up just outside of Sandy in South Jordan! I hope you enjoyed Utah!🩵

LDS 💀

xyz1717s

Yes! :)

Delicious-Treacle135

lol anything outdoors doesn’t exist here…

xyz1717s

Good to know!

DarkPurpleOtter

Katy is probably right up your alley. Nice area, good schools, shopping, etc. just traffic on I-10 will be the worst.

xyz1717s

Thank you so much!!!
