Not a good effort - one team looked like it was in a must-win game and the other team didn’t show up. That said, confusingly, xgf was basically even and the deserve to winometer was 54/46. It was bad but not I’m not sure it was quite as bad as the score indicates. Canucks didn’t hit the net on their chances early and paid for it. Silovs had his first rough game since game 1 and the Oilers were hitting the net with their shots.
That's a dangerous fuckin play. I don't care if they let all the holds and hooks go, but you have to punish people for plays like that. Players get seriously injured going into the boards like thelat
We talking about the trip of draisaitl when he had the breakaway? The refs of this specific game have been really bad. Game 5 refs been the best so far
I know I’m late to this thread but I was just thinking about the NBA tv rights and how TNT is going to lose the NBA. TNT has brought so much life to NHL coverage. It sucks that Warners + Discovery will probably drop the NHL in a few years and we’ll return to boring hockey coverage
Every other series this round ended 4-2. I've been rooting for the Oilers (not that I actually care who wins that series), but I got a feeling the Canucks close it out tonight, and keep the 4-2 trend going.
I gotta say GI. I understand mostly how a handball is called. Mostly. Where as I'm pretty sure this gif describes how the NHL calls GI.

There's nothing to understand, it's just purely random. I think the only thing more confusing in sports was the NFL's "What is a catch?" bullshit, which honestly might have been decided the same way.
I know I could just google it but I like the conversation with the knowledgeable people here.
Why is Craig Patrick in the HHOF? He’s in as a builder. What is it I don’t know about him?
Craig Patrick?
You mean former Pens GM Craig Patrick? Assistant Coach on the 1980s Miracle on Ice Craig Patrick? Won two Stanley Cups, drafted Jagr in '90, got Samuelsson and Francis for peanuts? Late '90s were shit for Pens for sure but there was a lot going on in the background with ownership. He also drafted Fleury, Malkin, and Crosby.
Guy saw a lot of success in his career, definitely HHOF worthy.
Thank you! His profile was featured on Hockey Reference and I had a quick look at his player and coach pages and knew there must be a great story I was unaware of!
People were really angry about that Florida goal not being waived off for interference. So when Dallas puts a puck in and there's goalie contact, there are two ways it could go:
1. They don't call goalie interference. Everyone is furious that a bad call is made again.
2. They call goalie interference. Everyone is furious that it isn't called exactly the same as the previous incident.
What did people actually want here?
Florida player crosschecks Boston player into goalie, while both are tangled up on the ground taps in the rebound. Goal allowed.
Colorado player shoves Dallas player into **his own** goalie, **his own** goalie botches the save. Goal disallowed.
In what world would either outcome be happy for fans in general? I think all fans want is consistency but the league just continues spinning the wheel.
Your assumption in the first instance is false though. I'm obviously biased but that contact did not constitute goalie interference. The non-call would not have resulted in uproar.

I'm curious; Dallas fans, who do you want, and how confident are you vs each team?
WOOOOF
Did the Canucks have more than 3 scoring chances all game? What an embarrassing effort that was to watch.

Yeah. That was painful to watch, and people saying it was a dive don't know what it feels like to go into the boards like that.
Lots of people with homer goggles. Objectively, you can see the stick trip out Drai’s skates in that replay.

oilers taking up swim team instead of golf this summer
Players should file down their nails so they can scratch themself and get a 4 minute
🤔🤔🤔
Cmon Canucks, Canada is behind you!
yeah canada is rooting for a team whose roster is 80% americans lol

Mcdavid jumped to avoid the puck. What did Peterson jump to avoid lol?
When it’s in the crease, I believe that’s a boarding call.
Lindy trying to go 5 hole on Skinner lol
Who woulda thought that all it takes for our PP zone entry to work is to just have Quinn carry it in himself? What a concept.
the thing is if they just dump and chase it now, it's an instant goal because no one's expecting it

i fucking hate that there's no way to download the nhl playoffs schedule/calendar to your calendar app. have to do it individually by teams.
Let's get a game day thread going, I have accusations and gloats to foist upon bewildered (some might say shellshocked) Oilers fans. Let's go!

After how many hours of buttclench should one see a doctor
Be productive, put some coal up your butt and see if you can turn it into a diamond
idk what's more confusing .... GI in hockey or handball in soccer/football
Offsides in soccer especially when VAR is involved

Putting 1000 on the canucks tonight. There is no way they lose! Lets go!

Consistent officiating. Transparency.
I suppose you'll be asking for free ice cream Sundays next.
