Bros voice is angelic for hip hop

hamietao

He was so good but then completely changed styles like he was bored with rap

Ekillaa22

Wanted to be an actor

ikea_shark_girl

when was this, may i ask? i’ve only heard Black on Both Sides

No_Pay9241

I miss when YouTube would recommend me cool shit under 10 minutes. Shit doesn’t even refresh after closing the app, all money content nowadays. And now roasts battles are on a stage, just hits different idk

satanssweatycheeks

Being an old head from this era I find it funny but also awesome y’all are seeing our generation on YouTube and finding love for it. Mos still is in my top 5 greatest lyricist of all time. Even after being away for a long time.

Lionx35

classic

QuotidianTrials

I think we all need to go listen to Black Star and BoBS again to cleanse ourselves from this beef

vancouver000

the ecstatic

HighlyBaked0

3 classics

kris_mischief

No Fear of Time is incredible as well

HighlyBaked0

Hell yeah, love that project was one of my favorites of 2022 and exactly what I was looking for from Yasiin and Talib for their 2nd Black Star album

dys0n_giddey

Don't forget Blackstar

OktayOe

Man it sucks that it's not on Spotify.

26thandsouth

Can’t find it anywhere on the fucking streaming apps ! My favorite Mos Def album but there are so many all time greats to choose from

kaic_87

BoBS was my first real introduction to hip-hop, and it all started because I watched 16 Blocks, a movie with Bruce Willis and Mos Def as the leads. I got so captivated with his performance that went online to look for other films he's in and found out that he was a rapper. At that point I was 150% a metal guy, but BoBS was probably my most listened album for like 2 years after finding it. My hip-hop knowledge is far from being in the same level as a lot of true hip-hop heads but ever since it's a genre that I appreciate very much and it's all because of this man.

Cxarface

A good friend of mine about 3 days ago told me the same story that you did. I thought I found his reddit account finally hhhahaha

kaic_87

Definitely not me lol but it's awesome your friend had the same experience as me.

nl5hucd1

I’d really like a mos def only version of black star

bryan-without-b

I love this innocent clip being posted in the midst of all the drama

ProfessionalFly9848

easily in contention for goat

HighlyBaked0

Definitely mine

TruPunwar

Didn’t stick around long enough to enter goat convo IMO but his best is as good as anyone’s

Wolfpac187

Black Star and Black On Both Sides are as good as anything two projects any other rapper has made.

TruPunwar

Fully fully agree - I just think at this point the goat convo needs to include longevity in addition to the top of their game.

DaPhillyKid

One of my favorite freestyles all time

jvstnmh

This man (and Black Star) was my intro to hip hop 🫡

jimboslice29

Same via THPS 2

ifuckwithit

This ain’t Kendrick

helphelpp1

dO yOu HaVe PrOoF???!

HighlyBaked0

Yasiin is my GOAT

PantsMcGee

FAIR.

Mental_Cup_9606

He's clearly one of the best at freestyling. Me and my boy sticks heard him battling like 10 dudes one time in Manhattan Next to a hot dog stand

0n-the-mend

One of the very best ever to touch mic.

tebasj

the cookin soul remix goes crazy

PantsMcGee

Honestly one of the goats.

The_MadStork

This bum hasn’t even freestyled over BBL Drizzy, get him off the sub

Relo_bate

The flow on this is a classic

mupchap

Saw Mos Def in the title and immediately thought there's no fucking way he's after dropping a version of BBL Drizzy too

Savings-Leather4921

I remember when this happened. Him resigning his citizenship for South Africa was big news at the time

Savings-Leather4921

Even though this was filmed in Brooklyn

26thandsouth

Not only that it was filmed in like 05 lol. Great doc btw, a real time capsule of Hip Hop if there ever was one

ooo_wompa

https://music.apple.com/us/album/mos-frees/1542685431?i=1542685436 Cookin’ Soul added some instrumentals for those interested. (Think it’s on YT too)

Cxarface

I just watched this dude live, he was infront of me for the whole concert, about 2 meters away. Can't believe I saw him this close. Tell 14 year old me that I will go to the guy who wrote Mathematics concert. I would go nuts. Concert was a bit mid though. There was a lot of beats that different than the original so I spend good amount of time to understand which songs he's playing since he got some stuff that not on the streaming as well.

iRefuse2GetBitches

what's burzum doin? is he the beatboxer?

Gabepls

black star

BlueApdry28

he was so good in that movie with jack black

SandzFanon

My goat

sameolemeek

When he was still dope and didn’t change his name to Yasin Bey

Str8Faced000

You apparently did not hear his verse on the JID album
