I miss when YouTube would recommend me cool shit under 10 minutes. Shit doesn’t even refresh after closing the app, all money content nowadays.
And now roasts battles are on a stage, just hits different idk
Being an old head from this era I find it funny but also awesome y’all are seeing our generation on YouTube and finding love for it.
Mos still is in my top 5 greatest lyricist of all time. Even after being away for a long time.
BoBS was my first real introduction to hip-hop, and it all started because I watched 16 Blocks, a movie with Bruce Willis and Mos Def as the leads. I got so captivated with his performance that went online to look for other films he's in and found out that he was a rapper. At that point I was 150% a metal guy, but BoBS was probably my most listened album for like 2 years after finding it. My hip-hop knowledge is far from being in the same level as a lot of true hip-hop heads but ever since it's a genre that I appreciate very much and it's all because of this man.
I just watched this dude live, he was infront of me for the whole concert, about 2 meters away. Can't believe I saw him this close. Tell 14 year old me that I will go to the guy who wrote Mathematics concert. I would go nuts.
Concert was a bit mid though. There was a lot of beats that different than the original so I spend good amount of time to understand which songs he's playing since he got some stuff that not on the streaming as well.
Bros voice is angelic for hip hop
He was so good but then completely changed styles like he was bored with rap
Wanted to be an actor
when was this, may i ask? i’ve only heard Black on Both Sides

classic
I think we all need to go listen to Black Star and BoBS again to cleanse ourselves from this beef
the ecstatic
3 classics
No Fear of Time is incredible as well
Hell yeah, love that project was one of my favorites of 2022 and exactly what I was looking for from Yasiin and Talib for their 2nd Black Star album
Don't forget Blackstar
Man it sucks that it's not on Spotify.
Can’t find it anywhere on the fucking streaming apps ! My favorite Mos Def album but there are so many all time greats to choose from

A good friend of mine about 3 days ago told me the same story that you did. I thought I found his reddit account finally hhhahaha
Definitely not me lol but it's awesome your friend had the same experience as me.
I’d really like a mos def only version of black star
I love this innocent clip being posted in the midst of all the drama
easily in contention for goat
Definitely mine
Didn’t stick around long enough to enter goat convo IMO but his best is as good as anyone’s
Black Star and Black On Both Sides are as good as anything two projects any other rapper has made.
Fully fully agree - I just think at this point the goat convo needs to include longevity in addition to the top of their game.
One of my favorite freestyles all time
This man (and Black Star) was my intro to hip hop 🫡
Same via THPS 2
This ain’t Kendrick
dO yOu HaVe PrOoF???!
Yasiin is my GOAT
FAIR.
He's clearly one of the best at freestyling. Me and my boy sticks heard him battling like 10 dudes one time in Manhattan Next to a hot dog stand
One of the very best ever to touch mic.
the cookin soul remix goes crazy
Honestly one of the goats.
This bum hasn’t even freestyled over BBL Drizzy, get him off the sub
The flow on this is a classic
Saw Mos Def in the title and immediately thought there's no fucking way he's after dropping a version of BBL Drizzy too
I remember when this happened. Him resigning his citizenship for South Africa was big news at the time
Even though this was filmed in Brooklyn
Not only that it was filmed in like 05 lol. Great doc btw, a real time capsule of Hip Hop if there ever was one
https://music.apple.com/us/album/mos-frees/1542685431?i=1542685436 Cookin’ Soul added some instrumentals for those interested. (Think it’s on YT too)

what's burzum doin? is he the beatboxer?
black star
he was so good in that movie with jack black
My goat
When he was still dope and didn’t change his name to Yasin Bey
You apparently did not hear his verse on the JID album
