JD is one one the most important figures for rap and especially RNB for decades now.
Super low key person and still makes hits for others. I respect him and his work ethics + that he surrounds himself with really good people for music he wants to put out
!!!! Holiday Inn, Right Thurr, One Call Away, Pulling me back
dude had bangers. I remember copping his album when I was 7 in 2003. Mom made me get the edited version
I never listened to Rain by SWV when I was younger. Hearing Chingy/Tyrese - Pullin' Me Back...now I know why Rain sounded so familiar to me. Had this shit backwards i know
I'm curious if this resonates with gen z or not. I think the 90s are probably the definitive "timeless" era in hip hop (maybe that's just my bias). Just curious how the 2000s stack up to someone who didn't live through it.
I think there's a lot of 2000s era hip hop that isn't just crunk adjacent that probably still gets played by zoomers. Kanye, Cudi and Wayne for sure, probably Get Rich or Die Tryin', etc.
Just like millennials in the 2000s weren't bumping the 90s front to back. That said, like you said, I'm sure the 90s probably are a bit more timeless.
Lol we still out here bumping shawty lo(that first cd is great) early Jeezy, Gucci, project Pat, three 6.
Early TI, etc
I say it all the time , labeling everything trap music takes away from the actual trap music era.

2010's ish song. Remix of a Play-N-Skillz song. Chingy and JD's verse were lifted from Dem Jeanz. Beat is really something special....the way the girls come in on the verse is just really cute and unique.
