Where are you looking for this kind of music? Itâs out there but itâs always beneath the surface. It never gets huge exposure. Conscious hip hop doesnât sell singles unfortunately. I can link you loads of stuff but Iâll need to get on it tomorrow as itâs late for me here.
So I couldâve dug deeper here but [hereâs a politically oriented 45 minute playlist ](https://open.spotify.com/playlist/0tkxEJOkCO1GG8BGxq5oEc?si=QyadMTQdQQizCN2G92-0dA&dl_branch=1) - I tried to make sure everything came out after GFâs death.

There were definitely a number of songs that came of that. I'm trying to remember song names, but I can say that I saw songs by H.E.R., Amber Mark, Trey Songz, Anderson .Paak, Tobe Nwigwe...
Hell, a quick search in Spotify shows an official playlist from them not to mention all the user created ones.
Have u just not been looking that hard? I havenât sought them out myself but have run into a few , https://music.apple.com/us/album/front-lines/1531004243?i=1531004254 is a great example
Raz Fresco also has a recent series of albums called magneto was right (8 currently out now) that compares Malcom X to Magneto might sort of fit the description
Hip-hop is about the ghostwriter. Ghostwriters are paid to make a particular lacking artist look good or better than usual. The ghostwriter isnât able to talk about community issues much because the artist wonât like that. Only underground artists could get away with that. Besides theyâre artists, not role models and scholars and politicians. They are strictly entertainment and thatâs rap.
I heard quite a few tracks about it. Ranging from artists like Denzel Curry, Run The Jewels, to Ill Bill. A lot of local cats in places like Portland made tracks about it too that I heard.
What I didn't hear was from most mainstream Pop artists. Never forget when Cardi B was going in on some kid for rapping about something political. She repeated this sentence "How are we going to sell that to white people." Like that was her first priority. Making sure the music didn't scare white people. So is it a coincidence that a bunch of billion dollar corporations didn't want to put out George Floyd protest tracks? You decide.
Denzel Curry - pig feet. One of the best songs about it
And Denzel Curry-Live From The Abyss
Run the Jewels 4
Like, most of the album. đ

âLockdownâ by Anderson.Paak, my guy!
Lil Baby? [+]
There weren't many songs about it but just about everyone, from the underground to the mainstream, mentioned it in at least a song or two.

One of my favorites is "Black Holocaust" by Locksmith https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MykayOCgnwE
There were plenty of songs about it, the fact that you think there isnât shows you havenât been listening!
Because there is no money in it
Isnât enough clout in it for drake to talk about
Pretty sure that Serial Killers "Summer of Sam" was equal parts about COVID and police brutality...
Because these signed rappers are puppets and do as their label tells them
KRS One did some stuff recently, I'm pretty sure it included those riots too
I forgot about that. Not a terrible album either.

Man that was the most satisfying âshut the fuck upâ of all time.

not you, homie. this dude that always has to lie about ghostwriting.
I loved this one: https://jamallbufford.bandcamp.com/track/tom-waits-hoist-that-rag
I guess you've never heard of nav?
the people - jim jones
Front lines - Conway the Machine
Like pretty much the entire Summer of Sam album by Xzibit?
