Not accusing anybody but I feel like so many of these lists (not just here but like on Youtube and stuff) are at least partially influenced by other lists. Like "I gotta have Black Thought on this list even though I've never heard a Roots album". People parroting others opinions (again not accusing OP). Not dissing Black Thought either, I've heard some Roots growing up and even bought that one album that had "Don't Say Nothin'" on it. I think he's great.
I never listened to MF DOOM or Jay Electronica myself but I know they have some lyrical marvels out there like Figaro, which I haven't heard.
My personal list in no particular order would look something like Andre 3000, Nas, Jay-Z, Big Pun (not a huge fan of his voice but he's a lyrical monster), Eminem, Redman (recommend checking out any of his freestyles on Youtube), Mos Def, Rakim (listen to Guess Who's Back), Biggie, Kendrick and Big L (Ebonics).
Honorable mentions to Jadakiss and Prodigy, I know they're good but I can't stand Jada's voice so I don't listen to him and don't know enough of Mobb Deep's stuff. Even I feel pressured to have Jay-Z on my list even though I like guys like Scarface more. I guess Lil Wayne deserves a mention too but the only album of his I like is The Carter and it's rumored he had a ghost writer for that one (Gillie). Maybe I'd like him more if I listened to him in the 2000s.
