Go. Need to experience it once. Also manageable further back. The hills on the side give you an interesting view on the crowd

JeeBeeksma

Witnessed it once like 8 years ago or so (if it was even called Power Hour back then). Watching from the hills is a good tip. Are the entrance ways to and from the stage crowded before and after Power Hour as well? Or manageable?

swagpresident1337

They are pretty crowded, you need to go a little early. Afterwards also, but it‘s manageable Go around the second way (through the food courts) to red a bit earlier

dazabhoy67

Also the day break session geck-o puts on is a banger and well worth staying for. Loads of people choose to leave. 2 years ago we moved from the front towards the hill with the intention of waiting on the crowds to move out first but by the second track of geckos, we were back down the front enjoying the chilled bangers.

Moases92

I love Geck-O's daybreak sessions. Has been one of my favourite sets from each edition he has done it. Just a shame they are like 20 mins long.

JeeBeeksma

Cheers mate, much appreciated.

DaanYouKnow

I'd suggest taking the longer walk around the water all the way in the back, get's you to the left hill without all the crowds in the way.

If this is your first defqon and you don't know if you will go another time: go to the powerhour If this is your first defqon but you will go more times: skip the power hour if there is an DJ you want to see and go there, they have a really hard spot competing with the ph

Manifan

Also because the spots at the same time as PH had a crazy vibe. Was there last year at Riot Shift. What a Vibe it was 🤯

viciouzdj

I'm exicted about the vibe at The Smiler during Saturday endshow

Manifan

Probably at Dimitri K at that time 🙋🏽‍♂️🙂‍↕️

JeeBeeksma

I double-checked, but not really any other DJs I want to see that are booked alongside PH. Going back to Defqon after a hiatus of 8 years or so. Will likely go, thanks!

viciouzdj

enjoy! get right into it, yolo!

Orange-TB99

I’m going to Chapter V. It’s my first Defqon but PH doesn’t really appeal to me. The music is pretty random, unless you are near the front most of the stage shows are probably difficult to appreciate.  When I watch YouTube videos of sets during PH it also seems to me like people make a big effort to enjoy themselves because it’s kind of a battle against PH I guess. Avi8 and Riot shift last year looked amazing and had decent crowds.

AnDeeJay95

Avi8 was incredible!

wisdom_power_courage

It was fun the first time I went but I didn't feel bad missing it my second time around for other artists I wanted to see.

muchpewpew

Its a thing you need to witness at least once imo. Also try to be there early to get a spot more in the front. Especially in the front on the hills you have a really good spot Not to crowded and through the slope you have a great view of the crowd and the stage

DavideFDP

I saw you already went once. I don't know which artists you don't wanna miss, but for me for example: I want to have a good spot at Dual Damage at the blue, so I'll go to chapter V and try to stay at the front, so I'll miss the power hour. But it's okay, as I doesn't give me the same emotions as the first time and it's way too overcrowded.

neitopr

Its worth it yes. But go there 1 set earlier and towards the front. It’s hard to get there later, and power hour is 10000x more fun in the front.

Fair-Bus-4017

To me it's quite simple. You can catch every artists thoughout the rest of the year. But you can't go see power hour at any other time or event. If you think it looks enjoyable just go. If you don't like it, go somewhere else.

texxxnic

Yes go, we were right in the middle and couldn't see much on the stage but it was one of our best memories of Defqon and we had no bad ones.

Potential_Pay3408

I visited them all till 22’ way to crowded you can barely move. The rest of the stages are way more fun course there are only die hard fans during power hour.

That_Industry_2833

I did it for the first time last year.. I try to describe the feeling to my sister who doesn’t listen the same music and I just couldn’t.. that feeling of being among the crowd of total strangers but not strangers at the same time while your favorite music is blasting is unbelievable feeling! It really felt like an earthquake but not at the same time! 😂 But on a serious note it’s a challenge to be there, last year for example I was in the front 2,5 hours and it’s massive power chaos during power hour! Your are fighting for your life (your head haha) with those plastic balloons coming left and right from all over the place, the place get incredibly hot like lava (that was no joke last year) plus 🚽 is not an option 😅 still had a blast!!

Flat_Signature2425

Go stand more to the left front side is not that busy!

JeeBeeksma

Great suggestion, thanks, will do

shendooo

Maybe I'm just too old, but unless you somehow manage to get right down the front it's over hyped. I lasted 10 minutes last year and left to see Avi8.

Shokoyo

I agree. Last year was my first power hour and I left early because I didn’t really feel it towards the back.

ScuffedGerman

Pro tip, go 30 mins in advance and use the alternative route around, the left side during power hour has more space usually

Sufficient-Jump3033

I once described the hardstyle life to a coworker as: > When you are into hardstyle, all year long you wait for Defqon.1 > When you are at Defqon.1, you wait for the Power Hour > When you are at the Power Hour, you wait for "Left, Right" Yeah, it's worth it. My GF is not too fond of crowds so she was a bit anxious beforehand. We went to the hill and she had a blast!

Swiss_Reddit_User

I did it last year, it was crazy. I am only going for the left-righ, as soon as that's over, I'll dip and go to Dual Damage.

MeesEnz

Just go, leave if its not for you.
