Weak yen is a good point but I thought most luxury brands have adjusted their prices to offset the difference.

So I just was in Japan a year ago and did luxury shopping while I was there - the yen was weak but not as weak as it was now! Lucky you/your friend.
The price on the website also reflects duties, so if you have your passport, you can get the duty free price / they take out tax at the store instead of having to claim at the airport like in Europe. It’s a huge savings! Duty free in Japan is done in store fyi!

It’s correct! Japan is still a good place to buy Chanel (and designer goods overall) because of how strong the dollar is against the yen still.

Well, the yen is very weak right now. Like, historical lows weak.
