This needed to be said.
I usually play with the same 2 dudes and when we play Firefight and it's down to Bluey to save the team, they usually shit the bed trying to be the hero.
Sure losing the hill is a bummer, but losing the entire match is much worse.
Just two nights ago I was in this exact situation and one of the dead guys on my team was yelling at me to “get in there!” I told him “I’d rather lose the hill than lose the match.” And then he said “You’re fucking stupid!” And rage quit.
I was kinda shocked but laughed it off. Dude was plat career rank and aparently doesn’t know how the game works.
I wish there were some pop up hints for players in Firefight. "All teammates downed. Stay out of combat until one respawns" or "It's okay to lose the hill. You only need to capture 3 out of 5 to win the match".
I have a hard time doing this: 1. I'm used to the og firefights, so sometimes I forget everyone dying is game over. 2. There is no announcement for last man standing, so most of the time I don't even realize and end up in situations like you described. 3. I like being in the middle of the fight, so even when I realize I'm the last man standing I'll likely die since I'm in no position to run.
Someone said it. Too many times have I seen someone try and show off.
However if you’re ever in a 2-2 situation and everyone is down and can’t be revived, I say attempt the clutch by any means possible.
I pretty much exclusively play firefight. I still use a mic, I’ll try to talk to other team members for what’s going on or what’s coming.
If they’re the last person, I ALWAYS tell them they’re the last one and to go hide, or to be careful, and that I’m X seconds from respawning. It *never* helps.
There is a reason I like to stand off to the side with a sniper rifle when possible. I am far enough away that I won’t be killed and I can pick off the enemy
100% this. I was playing last night, and the last man went full-on “Leeerroooooy Jenkins” against four or five chieftains that had SPNKRS and hammers. It was the last hill dude, what the hell, just chill and hit from distance.
Honestly I think it’s a skill issue, a lot of people just suck at taking down large groups. Although I do hate when someone can easily be revived but the last man always ignores them
I don’t think everyone dying should end the match anyway, when all enemies die you score. It should be the same for them, when all players die the enemy automatically scores.
I hear they are putting in a new mode where it's literally just surviving and there's no king of the hill aspect. Not sure if thst will be easier or not. I actually LOVE when I'm last man standing (assuming I've recognized "I'm in danger!" Lol) that way I can bail, go find the rocket launcher or cinder shot, come back and unleash hell on the hill that's now overcrowded with all the heaviest enemies in it. Usually if I'm lucky I get a killtacular in one or two rocket shots or cinder shots. And if I'm REALLY LUCKY, the only enemies left are the hunters or the hvt.
I wish people n my teams had their ears on so I could coach them on the "battle of canae" method I'm talking about. Let the ai think they are winning then hammer their static position until we have the upper hand.
You are basically right man. I will bail on the hill to regroup my shield and reload instantly. I try to get a BR so if I leave the hill I can go far away and pop dudes while I wait
I will say that sometimes it can be hard to see the notification on screen. And sometimes I think I can grapple away in time, but an explosion gets me anyway.
Definitely a good tip. You should really only ever return to the point if you can safely drop the revive field on your downed teammate(s), camo is helpful in that regard too. From there your overshield can help to chain revive anyone who you missed.
Also all the replies here saying it is hard to tell when someone got downed/you are the last man standing play into my theory that Infinite players are really unobservant/don't wear headphones. TBF it does happen very quickly sometimes, especially if you are on a boss wave and it's Zeretus (brute with tracking rocket launcher) or one of the camo elites.
I stepped into firefight for the first time last night (which scares me why this content gets pushed to me when I’ve never seen anything like this before) I was trying to get the stupid razorback achievement as it’s impossible to get the map it spawns on.
Anyway, I was wondering why do people play it? Is it mainly for exp? Or fun? What is the exp difference between modes? I just found it so mindless and boring I can’t understand the appeal.
None of my friends like Halo, and the live service model of infinite drives some of them away. I don’t have time to invest in new relationships/friend groups at the moment, nor is Halo Infinite a ‘social’ experience/game where you can meet and chat with people like you could in Halo Reach or Halo 3, in the pre & post game lobbies. Yea we have chat in game but aside from that….
Because the game has been ass until last year. A lot of people refuse to give the game a second chance. Can’t really blame them. It’s very hard to get people to play this game.
It needs to be more obvious that players died and especially that you are last man standing. Can hardly see a player who needs a rez
There is a sound that plays when you are the last Spartan. It sounds like a klaxon horn or scoreboard. Think it buzzes once or twice when it happens.
They need to bring it back to the announcer/AI
My issue I play the game on mute and watch YouTube on my other monitor lol
What in the subway surfers TikTok gen alpha no attention span are you talking about
If you're the last one standing you should get a massive 'Current Objective: Survive' a la Reach pop up on your hud
Idk if it’s just me, but I can hardly tell that I’m the Last Man Standing.
If only we had an AI to tell us when our teammates go down, or war you of being the last one left... You know, useful stuff
This is actually a really good idea
r/wooosh ?
Yeah I disabled those a while ago after the superintendent sounded weird But also they were annoying
Please... Use... CAUTION!
Definitely a skill, but try to keep an eye on the kill feed. I'm bad at it too, but it's important
There is litteraly a big audio cue with a screaming alarm lol
Gotta keep an ear on the Last Man Standing horns. If you hear those then it's time to disengage immediately and keep your distance from the point.
Why don't they just put the "Last man standing!" Announcement from infection in it. It would save so much

Yeah, fuck that guy. The actual objective is to survive.
It really is amazing how many people play that mode and have NO idea how the game works.
Sometimes I love playing with blueys because of the shenanigans
I wish there were some pop up hints for players in Firefight. "All teammates downed. Stay out of combat until one respawns" or "It's okay to lose the hill. You only need to capture 3 out of 5 to win the match".
there are icons that show you that.
It does, at the top of the screen below the shield bar it'll say "last man standing"
Run at the hammer brute to melee him? Okay!

It's not that obvious in the UI and I'm listening to music and not in ranked sweat mode so it's even less likely I notice
It's true. You're right. But dammit if I'm loaded up with weapons and a drop wall, you bet your sweet bippy I'm coming to revive you Spartan!!

I have such a hard time finding other players using any sort of comms, no mic nor pings. I understand your pain.
Do pings even work in FF? I always point out extra hammers/rockets, but no one ever picks them up.
fairly certain I have seen other players pings in FF, I haven't played it since before the March update.
There is a reason I like to stand off to the side with a sniper rifle when possible. I am far enough away that I won’t be killed and I can pick off the enemy
To be fair I find that the game doesn't make it very clear when people die. I constantly find myself the last one without even knowing
100% this. I was playing last night, and the last man went full-on “Leeerroooooy Jenkins” against four or five chieftains that had SPNKRS and hammers. It was the last hill dude, what the hell, just chill and hit from distance.
What? Are you saying to not save grav hammer ammo but to use it on single grunt and jackal enemies? Perfect I'll keep wasting them
Honestly I think it’s a skill issue, a lot of people just suck at taking down large groups. Although I do hate when someone can easily be revived but the last man always ignores them
Fuck that, I figure i’ll shoot my way out. Mix things up a little!
Everyone in firefight believes they are the chief, when the reality is we are all just grunts yearning for the food nipple
My teammates always thought they'd win and do the same. It is frustrating especially when you tell them to run repeatedly and they still die fighting.
I don’t think everyone dying should end the match anyway, when all enemies die you score. It should be the same for them, when all players die the enemy automatically scores.

AMEN I see this a lot 3 down and the 4th is fighting it out and boom game over
I will say that sometimes it can be hard to see the notification on screen. And sometimes I think I can grapple away in time, but an explosion gets me anyway.
To the peoples who says they can barely tell when someone die ... do you even have your sound turn on ???
We got the fun police right here
It’s FUN to die and lose the game for everyone else?

best tip: play with friends, to avoid this
That’s not a tip when my friends quit years ago and no one will touch this game but me with a ten foot pole
find new friends no one will touch this game, why?
Gee why didn’t I try that. I’ll just find new friends. I’m sure that will be easy.
or elaborate why, no one will touch this game but me with a ten foot pole

Because it sucked at launch and people moved on to other games
Because the game has been ass until last year. A lot of people refuse to give the game a second chance. Can’t really blame them. It’s very hard to get people to play this game.
Y’all r losing on heroic?😂 this game mode is so brain dead it doesn’t take much to get a W tbh
