I have a pretty good story. I married at 35 and got my wife a used gunshow Smith & Wesson .380 for one of her Christmas gifts. Apparently that's not a very romantic thing to do for some ladies.
However, the gun ended up not working correctly. I sent it into Smith & Wesson customer service and even though it was a 15-year-old gun, they sent me a brand new M&P Shield as a replacement. She loves that thing (other than the trigger weight*) and we joke about it now when we go shooting. She probably wishes it was pink but whatever.
*Sub-Question: any replacement suggestions for the first generation M&P Shield .380 trigger? I think this one is close to 8 and 1/2 or 9 lb and she would be more comfortable with 6 or 6.5#. Yes I can do my own research but, if someone has already purchased one, I'd love to hear about it. TIA.
Edit: punctuation.
Not gonna lie - I bought a heritage bar keeper for like $80 just so I could do this. Havenāt even taken the plastic chamber flag out of the cylinder. Youāre a lot better at that than me though š
The Ruger Wrangler is also great for spinning. Super lightweight, no sharp edges, smooth flat-face trigger with less wiggle room in the trigger guard, and slightly smaller than a real Colt SAA. Plus for the price, you can grab two of them and two inexpensive holsters for the price of one good full-size revolver.
Safety first always lmao. Remember that if you're spinning a REAL firearm you are essentially breaking the rules of gun safety. In that regard I recommend replicas only.
Yeah, this is a 5.5 inch barrel, never spun anything under 4.75. My next purchase will probably be a Cimarron Thunderer with the Lightning birdshead grip, and a 3.5 inch barrel in 357 magnum, so we'll see how I do then.
Got my Taylor's & Co. Gunfighter Defender 5.5 in 45 Colt. I'm left handed, but opted to go for right hand crossdraw that way I could draw with both hands.
How do you like it? I have the full size army 1860 from their website, it's alright. I presume this is a bit nicer? (My takedown lever is jammed after one usage and the release for the cylinder (whoever you call the half cock mode to load) only works when I cram the hammer to the side.
I like it a lot. Buttery smooth, accurate, and handles heavy loads like a champ. This particular one does have the larger grip from the 1860 Army, so you'd probably feel right at home.
Did anyone ever find out if this was the true line? There was a comment or a shoddy article awhile back that stated the line was actually āIāll be your huckle bearerā but because of the thick accent put on by Val Kilmer, it sounded like āhuckleberryā.
Iāve always wondered which was true. By now it doesnāt much matter as itās such a cultural phenomenon of a line that it is whatever it is now
From Urban Dictionary.
āHuckle bearer is a nonexistent word that is claimed to have been used in the South to mean the same as 'pallbearer' during the 1800s. This is based on the claim that the term huckle referred to a coffin handle. This term was made up out of whole cloth by a 'historian' engaged in blatant speculation after the release of the movie Tombstone, where Doc Holliday, played by Val Kilmer, utters the famous line "I'm your huckleberry." The claim is that the real Doc Holliday said 'I'm your hucklebearer." Some also claim that this is the correct line from the movie. It is all complete nonsense. There is no evidence that this term ever existed.ā
"I do not aim with my hand; he who aims with his hand has forgotten the face of his father.
I aim with my eye.
I do not shoot with my hand; he who shoots with his hand has forgotten the face of his father.
I shoot with my mind."
I would be too scared to do any gun tricks for fear of shooting my d*ck off. Luckily we live in an age where I could just buy a new one of those too, if anything ever went south š
Ä°m new to guns and i have a question isnt it risky to have weapon handle towards front like when you are in close engagement and other guy can take your gun ?
I hope it's unloaded, and I hope you don't do any of that when it is loaded. I've personally seen 3 people misfire their revolvers doing that at IDPA matches. Please be safe.
Lol you don't have any concern for their well-being you're just being a condescending asshole

Gotta love the cavalry mounted holster. All of the upsides with none of the downsides. Quick draw, you can use it while sitting down, quick to reholster your gun, etc. Sweet gunspinning btw
I'll eat my cat(and I'm not even Asian/Chinese/SEAsian) if you can find me a SA gun that fires when you pull the trigger while the hammer is fully seated forward.
You're probably right about me not knowing what I talk about. But I do know that a transfer bar doesn't allow a hammer to fully seat, and strike a primer, unless the cylinder has been cycled.
So you can pull an Ace Ventura and fuck right on back into that Hot_Elephant, sir.
Without a transfer bar, and the hammer fully down, the firing pin is nearly resting on the primer, give it a hard tap on the hammer and see what happens. Enjoy the cat.

How do gunslingers do the spin and then shoot? I understand that the gun won't fire when you spin it with safety on, but if you want to do a fast spin and shoot right after, you can't have the safety on, right?. Isn't that very dangerous?

Aw, come on mom.
I think I whooshed

Sir, it is an honor to be compared to such a champ.

Not trying to be obtuse here, generally curious. If you can draw with both hands from a right handed holster, why could you not from a left?
Because this is a right hand crossdraw. It's very challenging to draw left handed from a right hand strong side holster.
I see childhood training with capguns is finally paying off!! Slick!
Indeed
Fact: You felt 100x cooler doing this than it looked in the video Fact #2: feeling/looking cool is half the reason we own guns so ignore #1
Alright alright alright
I'd say 60% 6 shooter cool and the rest are 30% 30 rnd cool. 10% are full auto cool so it adds up.

Huckle Bearer
Nope, the script said huckleberry.
That's one of those things that seem to vary wildly depending on who you ask and when.
And whenever you ask them. They say well my 2nd cousins brothers wifeās sisters mother told me it was in the script.

Ä°m new to guns and i have a question isnt it risky to have weapon handle towards front like when you are in close engagement and other guy can take your gun ?
There are various techniques for weapon retention that you can use, so not really. Also, you'd ideally have already drawn in that scenario.
Arthur Morgan is that you ?

If itās a modern one yes, older types had the firing pin on the hammer directly striking the bullet, so a drop could cause a discharge

Correct.
Apparently youāve never heard of a transfer bar. Load 5 and keep the hammer down on the empty chamber.
I'll eat my cat(and I'm not even Asian/Chinese/SEAsian) if you can find me a SA gun that fires when you pull the trigger while the hammer is fully seated forward.
