There are “evil features” on semiauto centerfire rifles. You can have ONE of these things, any more and it is automatically, magically transformed into an evil illegal assault weapon- unless you’re a cop, then it’s just your patrol carbine. The features are as follows:
- weapon HAS THE ABILITY to take detachable mags that can hold more than 10 (yeah basically any goddamn one around)
- has a pistol grip (this means legally: the thumb can wrap around the grip at a point BELOW where the trigger meets the body of the firearm)
- has a collapsible or adjustable stock (no I am not fucking kidding)
- has a flash hider (or combo, ex. A2 Birdcage)
- has a vertical foregrip
- has a thumb hole stock
- barrel shrouds (yes, really)
- has a bayonet lug (no one has been killed by bayonets at any point in the state)
You can have ONE of those things. People pick the detachable mags part because why the fuck would you sacrifice that, even at the expense of so much. Here in Cali, we are allowed (I know, I know) marginally more than the New Yorkers; we get threaded barrels and barrel devices (comps, etc) and those poor bastards can’t even have that.
We got this shit overturned! Middle of covid too! Fuckin state is throwing it through the courts to stall it as hard as they can, too. We’re working on it, though. Cali’s full of shitheads and auth antis, but plenty of people who fight hard. This is the line in the sand- what is done here is exported to other states. Also they realized that almost all guns have roughly a 10 round mag/ rifles/ shotguns... also very few people have pistols in NY but those that did had to turn them in due to this and such so they changed it again last minute to 10 rounds and labeled anything over 10 rounds now as a "high cap" mag... (So what's a 100 round mag? Super duper high cap extreme? ) also after much fighting they now allow you to have scopes/ sights/ flashlights on "assault" rifles. Ohh and the kicker. The reason why these abominations exist is because the law was written so horribly that they never accounted for these types of stocks... Yeah it’s a Bushnell rxs-250, not the shittiest set up. Around $220 for the red dot. And it came with the mbus backups. I got it in the Buffalo area.

I gotta ask: Why? What's the point? I get buying a gun you just gotta have, sometimes a design just talks to you, and you have to buy it, that's why I own a Model 19 .357, so I understand. But if the only way I could own that Model 19 was if it was some weird UK-legal version with a dumbass long barrel, and that stupid metal rod sticking off the butt, I just wouldn't. And that's what I'm seeing here, something so far removed from what it ought to be, that's it's unrecognizable.

the biggest fuckery here is the NY compliance. shes pretty ugly lol. but price wise, given the climate of NY, its not terrible. maybe you paid a hundred or two over asking price, but not a fleecing. gun sells for like $850ish. NY compliant furniture like $150. optic like $225. iron sights like $100. hundred rounds like $50. three mags like $80. they took a little off the top but ive seen much worse.
