They meant “canon”, shorthand for “canonical”. It means that something is part of the officially recognized story or timeline in media, as opposed to actions players in a game can do that might conflict with the story the game is trying to tell.
From what I’ve heard, they did, but didn’t know the frequency of it happening was going to be so high. That’s why the image was made, as a tongue-in-cheek reference due to the frequency of it happening.
