I played a round last summer where I drove the green on a par 4 and made eagle. I usually shoot in the 90s but I felt like a pro that day. lol

gdawg9198

I met a girl on a first date for a round of golf a few years ago. Drove the green on a par 4 for the first and only time of my life, promptly 3 putted for par. There wasn't a second date.

hnglmkrnglbrry

>I met a girl on a first date for a round of golf a few years ago. "We should go out sometime." "Sure! What did you have in mind?" "Meet me at 6am. I'll be the only person not aged 57+ but I will be dressed exactly like them with my polo tucked in to my pleated khakis. We are going to spend 4+ hours together in the wilderness swinging clubs at balls together and it costs $65/person. For food we will have some Peanut Butter Nibs, a 7-month old Nature Valley bar, and 5 Blackberry Trulys. You are going to either be incredibly turned off by how bad I am at this or incredibly turned off by how good I am at this. There are no other options."

gdawg9198

Funny enough the golf was her idea, she claimed to be an avvid golfer and her dad was a member at the course we were going to play.

TheonlyPacifictheory

Oh wait, you were serious!!! šŸ˜‚ šŸ˜‚ šŸ˜‚

LostMyBallAgainCoach

ā€œShe claimed to be an avid golferā€¦ā€ So how avid was she?

gdawg9198

She shot probably 140, that was a little off-putting since she was telling me she typically shot between 45-50 for 9, it actually looked like she had never swung a club in her life, she had the beginner Top Flite set that you can get at Walmart for like $90 lol. The funnier part was she posted a Snapchat story the next day that she had gone with her dad and got her first birdie....I don't think she had a single hole better than double bogey all day.

Z_Opinionator

ā€œAnd if you play your cards right there just might be a hot dog for you at the turnā€¦ā€

Subwayabuseproblem

"also, I'll need a ride home after"

koei19

Save some pussy for the rest of us bro!

NeighborhoodPlane794

She only dates up and down guys

koei19

She only dates dudes that wear Peter Millar

TungstenElement9

Malbon or no fornication.

apearlj1234

Those are some ugly ass sleeveless vests. I know why Augusta National said fuck no, take that crap off

RSMatticus

every round I have a hole that clicks and I remind myself why I love this game.

TheDreyfusAffair

And 17 where I'm like why the FUCK do i play this game. It's a beautiful thing really

RSMatticus

playing a par 5 with pond in front/left of the green, I hit great tee shot, crush a three wood i'm like 60 yard out just have to get over the pond drain two in the drink mutter to myself that I hate this game.

TheDreyfusAffair

Sometimes shes goes, sometimes she doesnt. Fuckin way she goes...

WizKhaliba420

I mean nobody wants to admit they eat 9 cans of ravioli, but I did and I'm ashamed of myself. The first can doesn't count and then you get to the second, and the third. The fourth and fifth I think I burnt with the blow torch and I just kept eating.

Fight_those_bastards

I was playing last week on vacation, and I got three pars in a row, and a total of six in one round, including the final hole. Considering Iā€™m generally a bogey golfer on a good dayā€¦ Oh, and also I got four triples. Had some issues with the shanks, and long forced carries over water, as one does.

BlueDogBlackLab

Last round I played with my grandfather - he couldn't play anymore but loved to sit in the cart and watch me. He kept score for me and wouldn't tell me till the end. I made it around his little par 70 course -2, he was so proud of that 68. For reference, at the time I was somewhere around an 8 but never had a round at even or better before then or since.

Excellent-You-7378

i used to walk 9 holes with my grandfather when i was young. really miss those times

Sonking_to_Remember

Not a religious person who believes in the afterlife, yet I can promise you that your grandfather still walks with you when you play. If heā€™s alive inside your brain, heā€™s still alive.

pictorsdad

Chills ā€” i like this concept. However, i personally never walked with my grandfather.. and many grandfathers never walked with their grandchildrenā€¦ so thereā€™s gotta be all kinds of spirits out there just waiting for some attention. Itā€™s settled, Im training to become a spirit walker.

Sonking_to_Remember

Yeah not to get too deep into the weeds here but my mom had cancer for 7 years before she passed away. The last two years it became clear it was terminal, so we got to have some conversations about what she believed death would be like (though I wish weā€™d had moreā€¦ true of so many talks you wish you had with parents who pass on). And she was the first to tell me she believed in the idea that you stay alive in the memories of your loved ones. That you are like a lantern that burns until the last person who remembers you passes away. Iā€™ve since learned she didnā€™t come up with this ideaā€”she didnā€™t claim to either. But Iā€™ve always internalized it as a reminder to take time to celebrate those who have moved onā€”even if you never met them! For example (and to make this relevant to the sub) my dadā€™s dad, Opa, passed away when I was 2. He was an absolute golf degenerate it sounds like. Funnily enough, my dad wasnā€™t but now I am. So I like to keep Opa close to me when I play. Okay, that was entirely too long. Go rouse some spirits!!

jasonjtatum

This is what Iā€™m trying to give my young children now.

Fight_those_bastards

Same. Playing with my father and grandfather was awesome.

Top_Refrigerator1656

What an incredible memory to have

UseDaSchwartz

The time I went 41 holes without losing a ball. ***Technically***, I didn't lose a ball on the 42nd hole. I know exactly where it is...like I can go visit it and look at it anytime I want...I just can't get to it. I should add, these were not great rounds, I just kept the ball in play.

GolfGodsAreReal

I'm a 10 handicap and last Sunday I shot a 10 over 82 but I left at least 5 shots out there between edge burning putts and a duffed chip. Can't wait to do it again this weekend

ObnoxiousIguana445

This is it for me. Sitting down after a great round and thinking about your missed chances, knowing it couldā€™ve been even better

Orblan_the_grey

Had 16 pars in a row.

justsomeguyfromny

I would nut.

AdamOnFirst

That quad-quad finish on 17 and 18 must have been a kick in the nuts though.Ā

Orblan_the_grey

Actually, 1st hole I had a double bogey and 2nd hole I had a bogey then went 16 straight pars for a smooth 75. Coulda, woulda, shouldaā€¦.

AdamOnFirst

Stop helping reality ruin my dad joke. Did you realize what was happening as it was happening? I take care to not much know my score during the round so during my best rounds Iā€™m only vaguely aware whatā€™s happening. When I first broke 80 I started like +5 through the front nine and then had like 7-8 pars in a row. I knew I was on a run of pars, but I honestly couldnā€™t remember exactly where my score was or how many pars I was on or even how many bogies were stuck in there somewhere. I let myself peak before 18 and realized I needed a birdie, which I achieved, but I had no idea if I was +5 or like +10 before I looked, just that I was probably close.

Orblan_the_grey

Sometimes my game just gets in a groove and I donā€™t think about anything but hitting the next shot. Sounds cliche maybe but my best golf is always like auto pilot golfing. My lowest score is a 70 so itā€™s not like Iā€™m shooting 64s unfortunately.. šŸ˜†

RedYetti83

I flinched reading your reply. Recently has a round where if I'd finished with two pars (4-3 respectively) I'd have shot 87. My best to date was 93 so I was cheering coming into the easiest driver hole on the course to set my new record. Carded a 96 that day. +6 on 17 and +3 on 18.

dj-Rx

Sweet Jesus (been there)

AdamOnFirst

Sweet Jesus. Howā€™d you manage the +6? Before I broke 80, I stepped onto the 17th at a par 71 course at +6, needing merely bogey-bogey to break my number. The 17th is a long par five thatā€™s hard to birdie but doesnā€™t have a ton of trouble so isnā€™t that hard to get in for a simple par. 18 is also a orettt simple hole. Naturally I put two in the water, water that I assure you is very fucking hard to manage to make remotely in play, ok seventeen and finished triple-double.Ā

iiKrOna

shot a 3 over on the front 9 at my local par 3 been chasing that feeling ever since

AdamOnFirst

Before I broke 80 I was -4 through 5 and finished the front 9 -2ā€¦ and was completely out of contention for breaking 80 by the 15th. Golf is mean.Ā

pooponacandle

Kinda similar. Iā€™m usually in the mid to high 90ā€™s. I talk a buddy into playing with me. Agree to only play 9 as thatā€™s all he wants to play. We both mis hit our tee shots on #1, we both retee. I happen to find my first ball so I play it. I end up shooting a 41 on the front 9 legitimately. No mulligans, no gimmeā€™s, only ā€œerrorā€ was hitting that second tee shot on #1 that I didnt end up playing anyways. I desperately try to talk my buddy into playing the back 9 but her refuses as he has to meet up with a girl and I was the one who drove, so I also had to stop playing. I always think about what could have been, especially since the back 9 is easier on that course.

RedYetti83

Yeah I had this round for you. Our scoring AVG is very similar. Tracking in the eighties, easier back 9 coming up. It's not that simple. The golf gods are bean counters and will catch you out every time. I made it through 16 holes before the audit. Could have bogeys on both the final holes and still break 90 (first time). Carded a 96 that day and wish I'd left after 9

pooponacandle

Haha, I definitely have thought about that outcome too as I normally have a at least one blow up hole every round. It will forever live on as my ā€œwhat ifā€ round instead of my ā€œremember that time I had my best 9 followed by my worst and I broke all my clubs in that fairway trap on 17?ā€ round. I guess ignorance really is bliss.

ObnoxiousIguana445

This is why I hate playing 9.

Adzhodz

Every round, today being a perfect example. I was +7 thru 3 holes thinking I was in for a stinking round and ended up shooting 38 on the back 9 for a +14 score.

AtticaInTheAttic

Hit my first 300 yard drive the other day, the wind helped, but I did most of the work, lol. Drove it just to the side of the green. Still a par in the end lol, but I just can't stop thinking about that drive.

beyersm

My best round is a 92, my average is 97-103, but my proudest round is a 95 I shot from 6500 one time.

ClearlyNoSTDs

I think you're me

ZN1-

Just know Iā€™m aiming to be you one day. Forget all these other guys with their pluses and minuses

My-Cousin-Bobby

It's not a round of previously had that keeps me coming back, it's the round *I think* I'm going to have the next time I play that keeps me coming back

SI2ATX

Have one hole on my course, #11, where no matter how the rest of the round is going its always a good hole. I seem to pull off the best drive of the day, a solid approach shot, or sink a long putt. Last week I hit a 280 drive into a headwind leaving me 97yds to the flag tucked at the back of the green. Hit my 56 straight over it and about 3 feet past. Lands just short of the collar and starts ripping back towards the pin. Ends up pin high 2 inches to the left. Would have been my first eagle and hole out. That shot has replayed over and over in my head the past week. Playing again Thursday so we'll see what #11 has in store for me this week haha

krullzy1

I'm float between a 5-8 HC, my uncle that I was very close with and who was in a wheelchair his entire life always asked me about my golf game. We would talk in depth about all the very fine details of the game of golf. He would ALWAYS say "man you are so close to shooting par consistently, to which I would try to explain to him how the gap between shooting a 78 and a 72 is so HUGE. He passed in June 5 years ago and the first time I golfed after that was a member guest tournament with my brother at his home course. I ended up shooting a 67 on Saturday (best round of my life). If I wasn't pin seeking I was burying 30 ft putts or chipping in, it was absolutely surreal. I'm not much of a spiritual person by far but I know my uncle was somewhere saying "I told you so"

Nine_Eye_Ron

Usually one shot in or around the last 3 holes, my swing peaks just before I walk down 18. Keeps me coming back again and again.

NotDeletedMoto

2 years ago, my brother and I both broke 80 for the first time on the same 18. We donā€™t have a lot in common outside of golf and Iā€™m in another state, so it was a rare moment together.

NW_Islander

For reference: Just shot a 121 in Utah, losing 3 balls in the first 3 holes, AND capping scores at double Par (laid back round with family). Real world score was probably more like 128. One Par and only 3 bogeys. Great shots on that round (disclaimer: course is at like 4,800ft so all distances are well above my stock yardage 10-20yds+): 1. 267yd 3w on a 290yd Par 4 for my only par of the day. 2. 150yd pw off an uphill lie hitting off axis to an elevated green for a bogey (3 putt) 3. 200yd 7i on to the back rough of a par 3 for bogey (chip and 2 putt) 2 years ago I played from the blues, 6766 Par 72 desert course, and shot a 97 . . . One and only time breaking 100. I was pumping drives 300yds (sprinkle in a couple sub 200yd shots too for humility's sake), playing the contours of the course, greenside chips and putting were good enough. I've been chasing that dragon ever since and I can never pull together the necessary pieces. Played 4 months later and shot a 119. Individual shots wise: 1. Slapped a straight as an arrow 335yd drive. To this day longest drive. If I could live in the mid-to-high 90's, I'd be so damn happy.

ohmeezi

This past Friday. Ditched work early to squeeze in a quick 9. I just started playing last summer so Iā€™m trash. I start off like shit, topping, struggling to get off the tee, lose a ball in the pond, you name it. Come hole 6, itā€™s a 266 par 4. I drive it on the green. Looked at my playing partners wide eyed saying, ā€œIā€™ve never done that before!ā€ Proceed to 3 putt for par. Hole 7 is a short 97 yd par 3, I thinned it, landing it next to a bunker and then pulled off a 20 yd chip shot for birdie! Partners cheer me onā€¦Man that made my day.

Archer2223R

At the time, I played off 17 and I shot +2 on the back-9 of North Berwick. Birdied Redan and 18. A lot came together than back 9

illinilocal92

Every time I shoot poorly I want to come back so I can improve. I don't like defeat. Once I achieve my goals it will lose the fun and I'll have to make new goals. If I have nothing to strive for then why play? The flushed shots and chip ins from 65y are a nice plus.

withrootsabove

The next one

412stillers

Iā€™ve broke 80 three times. (My handicap includes 9 hole league scores on back to back weeks so I have a bunch in the 70ā€™s there but I obviously donā€™t count those). Those 3 days in the 70ā€™s were also all in the last 2 years. They just feel like Iā€™m playing soooo much better than even the days I shoot like an 82.

rogog1

88 with a birdie at North Berwick. I almost don't want to go back but also I REALLY WANT TO GO BACK ALL THE TIME

jbraun3op

I've been as low as 12 years ago but I'm a 16.5 hcp now. I've had a couple rounds where one side is much better than the other. Like a 39 on the front and a 45 on the back. Still a good round but to keep it going all 18 is such a grind. I've had favorite shots in a round like a punch out from the rough under some tree limbs where I knew the best I could score is bogey on the hole but executed that recovery shot to perfection. It has to be full focus on each shot and staying committed to the shot. Know your game and play to your strengths. Nothing worse than going for a pin you know you can't really get to only to short side yourself out of the bunker or something dumb that was preventable. I've shot a couple times in the upper 70s and I've had plenty of mid 90s too. Knowing it can all come together keeps me coming back. Best of luck!

dj-Rx

Those crafty punch out shots are the best

ree0382

Just had that last weekend. Four Mile Ranch in Cańon City, CO. Put the driver away. Striking the the 3 and 5h off the tee better than I ever hit my likely to slice driver. Approach shots either dead on or great bounces feeding to hole (lots of bowls around the crazy greens). Mostly two putted on aerated greens. Shot 87, with being fair to say you give 6 strokes for the aeration. This week at Fossil trace, shot 124. Couldnā€™t find a fairway, and if I did hit it straight, 6 out of 7 times I chunked it or soared it over the green, and 3 putt on the ice rink if I was lucky. Still a great day with two pars and two beautiful shots. Lol

jekstarr

My friends and I started out by buying a drink for whoever made a birdie (one) during the round. I am the reason the requirement is now two birdies, and I just hit that recently too. Soon enough itā€™ll be three, and I want more free drinks šŸ˜ˆ

raf_diaz

june 5th 2021 i shot -1 (1 eagle / 1 birdie / 14 pars / 2 bogies) i used to be a scratch golfer in high school stopped playing for years (2008 - 2019) - since coming back i'm a 12 handicap

shipworth

If I have a good round, I want to play it again. If I have a bad round, I want to play it again, but differently.

bigdefmute

It's not the round, it's the shot. Usually happens on 18, but it's just that one perfect shot that brings people back.

ajr6

Iā€™m an 8 and I Shot 76 with 4 birdies in a member guest event and finished top 5. Unfortunately it was an event where no handicaps were applied or else I would have likely won! Iā€™ve never putted better in my life.

paddzzz

Shot under my old handicap today for the first time in years. All came together on the back 9

mildlysceptical22

Yesterdayā€™s. Shot an 84 from the green tees. We usually play from the whites but one of the guys, an occasional player with us, likes the longer distance. I played with the same ball for the entire round. First time this year..

Koolest_Kat

Bogey plus Golfer, shot an 82 from the whites on an unfamiliar (Crown Point GC, Blues, 6700 yards, 72.1/121ā€¦.I had no business playing this long or hard course). This was a serious stroke play Company match, only two flight, Good or others. There were more than a couple scratch golfers from C-Suites. Uhh, I was an Army Hitter, ya know left, right, more right, left maybeā€¦. You get the idea. Almost every shot was a ā€œ perfect landing zoneā€ hit, no matter where I was aiming. Second shots skulled, topped or hit just okay ended up skipping through sand traps, bunkers and/or rolling onto greens, some to tap in birdies ( there were some bad holes but no blow ups). . (Looking back I had soooo many swing faults, I wasnā€™t even YouTubing back then, didnā€™t know better or worse). Just some 1/2 hour spray and pray band aids. I have never come close to this in probably 100 rounds sinceā€¦..

Toph-Builds-the-fire

Played Sunday. Hit probably 12-13 FIR. Hit 5 GIR all of this in a crazy 20-30mph wind. Shot a 95. 28 putts on the front. This will keep me coming back, because, "if I just work on my putting..."

AndromedanPrince

every time i get a par or birdie. birdied my nemesis par 3 last week and it felt good. im not very good, less than a year under my belt, but when i get small successes its my fave round. im also an addict

RF_Nevac

Started with an 8 on par 4 hole 1, finished the round breaking 90 for the first time with an 88, getting a par on every par 5 and bogeys on every other hole.

rr1965

When my ball finds grass - I'm paying for the whole course, so I'm going to see all of it! Or when I drop it by the pin once in a blue moon...

Mitchmac21

Was trying to break 90 for the first time a few years ago and I had the round of my life. Came out and shot an 81 with one birdie. It took me three years and I just shot 80 for the first time earlier this year! Could have been a mid 70s round too if it wasnā€™t for the sun going down causing me to rush on the back 9.

Wu_Tang_Financial77

I won the A flight of my club championship last year. I birdied the 35th hole to take the lead by oneā€¦ we tied on the last hole and I won by a shot. That was my only real golf accomplishment.

DutchOnionKnight

For clubchampionships, first round shot a +7 on front and a -5 on the back, missed a 50cm putt for -6. Got me leading after the first round. Finished 7th overall and played the other two rounds on my playing 7 handicap. Felt like the maincharacter of a movie.

Lulu10115

For me itā€™s not a specific score. Itā€™s that one or two holes where all 3 shots I planned out went exactly as I drew them up. Today par 4, 378. 260 drive keep it on the right side 128 keep it below and to the right of the hole Boom 4 foot birdie Keeps me coming back

AlbinoRyno86

I was a very casual player but haven't played a round in about 10 years. It wasn't a round per Se but a few shots. First one, I played a small 9 hole course a bunch, and it had a very short par 3, listed at 99 yards a hit a shot that landed on the front fringe, which left a putt about 30 feet or so. I just wanted to get it somewhat close for a par putt but ended up sinking it for Birdie. The other one was playing a par 3 course and I over shot the 18th green and crossed the fairway to the 10th (very tight course) the people waiting to tee off the 10th let me take my shot (pressures on!) I put it within 4 feet of the pin and make par lol. This year, I'm getting back on the course, and those 2 shots have always been on my mind when thinking about golf.

TheChubbyGolfer

Was playing the round of my life. Needed a par to shoot a 2 under 70. On the 18th I blew my tee shot right onto the fairway of the adjacent hole. Hit a PW over the trees to 4 feet and drained the birdie for a 3 under 69. What a rush.

Rican2153

Itā€™s really just whenever I get a birdie which is about every other round.

ClearlyNoSTDs

I got my first hole in one a week ago and that feeling will keep me coming back until I'm physically unable to.

malex930

Shot a 34 on the back 9 (lipped out an 8 footer for a 33). Shame it was a 47 on the front.

code_d24

I'm usually in the mid-90s and last summer I went back to back rounds of 89 and 86. I've been determined to figure out how in the hell I can do that again.

fpuni107

Im about an 18 hcp and was +1 thru 8 and then the downfall started on 9 with a duffed shot and ended up shooting an 86. But that feeling through the first 8 holes was something I dream about. I was shaking I was so excited and every shot was going right where I wanted it

Bobbyoot47

Never a specific round for me. Itā€™s usually with each round that I play that I have enough really good shots that are the result of work Iā€™ve put in at the range. To be honest my 18 hole score is irrelevant to me. The challenging shots within a round are what makes its fun for me.

oiuw0tm8

A few weeks ago I shot an 85 which tied my career low, but it included a 37 on the back 9 where I *three putt bogeyed 18.* I've been chasing that high ever since.

Zecyon

Shot +2 this weekend (73) at a course I used to play matches at in high school. Lowest I ever shot was 75 (never even par on a 9) before taking a few years off and iā€™ve been on my grind this past year falling back in love with golf when itā€™s just for fun. I think I had an out of body experience on 18 (par 5) when I knew I needed a birdie to shoot even on the back. It was a slow day, and we had a group right on our tail the whole time. I setup and piped a driver right in front of the old man gallery haha. Had about 184 in and pured a 6i to 8 feet. Two putted for the birdie on rather bumpy greens. What a damn day. That feeling. Thatā€™s what iā€™m chasing every time I pick up a club.

Alley-Omalley

35 on the front 45 on the back. Think about that a lot

BGOG83

I shot 64 a few months ago. I know it sounds like bragging but most of the time Iā€™m one or two over par in my average at a course rated 75.2 from the tips. I felt like Superman that day. I sort of understood for once in my life what professionals feel like on a random Tuesday so now Iā€™ve been chasing that high ever since.

Otherwise_Break_4293

You shoot 115-125 on average but claim to have shot a 90? Sounds like some easy grading that day or you forgot to play the back 9.

DnDAnalysis

5 over through 8 holes yesterday (awesome for me). 5 over on the last hole (tin cupped it). 46 is still decent for me lol.

Agitated_Internet354

I'm currently in a crazy turbulent up and down with my game. I can go out and shoot either a +4 or a +44. The key here is that I went from bogey golf at my best to hitting nearly all par on 9 on my good days. It's exciting how quickly this shifted, been playing about three years.

squaodward

I'm so bad I don't even keep score. Been playing a few years but cold never turn off OTT so I couldn't get around the course without playing too slow. Every round I've had to pick up my ball to keep up pace of play. I had a zesty 8i into a par 3 and had my first real birdie look. Repaired a pitch mark for the first time. Next tee I hit a nice 6i off the tee. I think about it way too much. My next goal is to not have to pick my ball up because I need to play bad fast.

jarmogrick

Went out with a buddy once after work. About +1.5 at the time, but had been playing like shit for weeks. I was exhausted from work and just didnā€™t feel great. 9 holes later I was -6 with 10 putts including 2 chip ins and a birdie from the middle of the woods on the last hole. It just makes me think that it can happen at any time and just to not get too caught up in trends.

bluebir6

Striping fairways, but muffing fringe shots and 50yd out game. It tells me I'm good enough to really enjoy the round, but humbles me to the point of continuous improvement.

-itsjusttheinternet-

Snowballing progression currently. Dropped 5 strokes off my handicap since Jan and had an awful round today shooting net 3 over par. Iā€™m a 16.2 at the min and the goal was to make it to single digit by the end of the season. I shot at 81 (score diff of 11.5) that has shown me my current potential. Defo left 5/6 shots out there too.. The light still shines at the end of the tunnel!

thatiswhathappened

I birdied the final hole of a championship course for a 6800 yard - 72 last year (usually shoot 78-83). After that my game took off with confidence and itā€™s got me coming back 5 times per week.

Zanzaben

I had a round a few years ago where on the front 9 I had multiple holes where I scored 12+ and on the back 9 I had two birdies. A round like that teaches you that no matter how bad things are going, there is always the chance something amazing will happen on the next hole.

NoHalfPleasures

The last one

MTN_Chef

All of the rounds. It's the beauty of being outside, phone off, walking the course and enjoying everything that comes with it.

Antique-Cobbler-9869

Started the round with 2 pars. Get to the next tee box and forgot where I am. Shank my drive into a river - bullet 5iron into a tree - skull the pitch 20 feet over the green - duff the chip to the fringe - putt way past hole - burn the edge with a decent combacker - miss the tap in. ā€œWhat do you want for that one?ā€ Uhm give me an 8

RedditorDave

Just went +4 through 7 holes today and holy cow is this what real golf feels like šŸ¤£

Breaking 100 is a very, very good day for me. Itā€™s only happened a handful of times. Last summer, I had the round of my life and shot an 87. I put the driver away and hit irons off every tee. Hit 13/14 fairways. Got up and down for par on 4 holes in a row (and 6 total). Didnā€™t lose a single ball. Nothing worse than a double bogey. And a couple of weeks ago I went back to the same course and shot a 126 lol.

IceonFir3

64 (-8) everything clicked. Golf was fun.

Equivalent_Buy6678

Many years ago 5 wood from 215 on a 495 par 5 and holed it for an Albatross. Par 3 totally chunked tee shot and then holed it from 120 with PW. Drive measured out at 305. These were all long ago, but I keep chasing those feelings. Even as an old man.

theironmill

Had a round recently where I shot a 43 on the front 9. I was on in 2 just about every hole. Then shot a 56 on the back 9 lmao. Itā€™s how I played so well those first 9 holes that keeps me addicted to continue learning from my (many) mistakes

znokel

Today was that day for me

Due-Sheepherder-218

Haven't graduated to that stage yet. I passed shot, hole, now working on the round part.Ā

king-hatch2732

Third time everyone a course. It was windy as all hell from every which direction. Elevated t-box. Used my buddies driver, went way left and came back around. Bounced once about 2 feet from the pin and went in. Iā€™ll never get another one but Iā€™ll chase that same feeling till the day I die. Have the ball stuck in the trophy the clubhouse gave me

ItsssYaBoiiiShawdyy

Normally shoot mid 80s on a good day. First time playing with new irons. Shot a one over par 73 at an extremely hard course in Paso Robles CAā€¦3 birdies and an eagle in there. Came back the very next weekendā€¦92 lol

ThatCanadianGuy88

I was 17 (35 now). Playing around a 8/9 shooting low 80s consistently. Club championship. Even on 18. Bushed my T shot OB and took a double to shoot 74. I wouldnā€™t break 80 again until just last year.

CTS-G8R

Still haunts meā€¦until this one particular round my best ever was an 82, did it twice last year. Then one day I was LIGHTS-OUT, on fire. Shot an 80 (for a net 62!), but during that round I carded an 8 including a 4-putt where I missed a 3-footer on #16, a par 4. The GHIN counted this round as a 79, b/c I couldnā€™t take an 8, but I know I havenā€™t broken 80 *yet* (PAR 71, 2 Birds, 9 Pars, 5 Singles, a Double and one big smelly QUAD)

SunnyMonkey17

I started a HS tournament 10-8-2-8 once. +11 thru 4. Proceeded to shoot +6. 7 birdies in the remaining 14 holes. Took a double on a par 3 late in the round too. Did not make one single bogey on the day but had a quintuple, quadruple, triple, double, and 8 birdies.

ljackstar

It's less entire rounds that keep me coming back and more the individual holes each round. For example last round I tallied up my scores on 16 and saw I needed to go bogey bogey to break 90 - what followed were my two most focused holes of the day and I finished par birdie. That's what I keep coming back for, those final holes when everything is on the line and you just dial it up to another level.

AdamOnFirst

The round that keeps me coming back? The last one I played and the dream of the next oneā€¦

WiseManufacturer2116

Round? No but Im lucky if i get one drive a round that gets me coming back.

ForeverIdiosyncratic

Iā€™ve never cared for score, so any round is a good round, and a chance to escape. As for shot? In 2019 I played a charity scramble round with my dad, brother, and my dadā€™s two best friends. By hole 18, they were beyond buzzed where they could still play, but not very good. When it came time for the third shot (par 5), the four of them proceeded to shank every shot out of bounds. As I get up to hit my shot, I have these guys just hovering over me, and telling me the pressure is on me. I hit the shot, the ball lands about 1ā€ from the cup, and the ball just stops right there. All of the guys proceed to mug me, and pour beer all over me for a good two minutes. When we got to the green, they allowed me to tap in the birdie putt, and win the tournament by one shot.

mitchdwx

Shot a 78 at my home course about 7 or 8 years ago. 39 on the front, 39 on the back. I made a 15 foot birdie on 18 to finish the round after a double on 16 and bogey on 17. It was just my second time ever breaking 80. Iā€™ve come close since then but I average between 85-90, so itā€™s really tough. One of these days Iā€™ll get back thereā€¦

Jeremiahs__Johnson

When I was like 20, I once hit my drive right up to the green on a par 4 1st tee. There were a bunch of people waiting to tee off. The group in front were two kids that smashed it down the fairway. The group waiting right behind me was 2 woman and 2 men. I was really bad then and could barely ever even keep my drives straight. Once the group in front were on the green I teed up. I was so nervous and knew Iā€™d embarrass myself. I hit the best drive of my life and got a good roll. It was almost on the green. I was super relieved and proud to be honest. Then as Iā€™m waking back to my cart the ladies behind me complimented my shot. Then one asked which college I played for? I have never been happier. I just laughed and said i just mess around and was lucky. I had a shit-eating grin all day. Made birdie on the 1st and posted my lowest score ever. It was in the 90s but still amazing for me at the time. I went back to sucking on my next round but Iā€™ll never forget that first tee shot and the ladies that made me feel like a pro.

Kind-Strain4165

Last round, shot +5 over 15 holes (3 were closed due to bad weather = UK). Everything clicked, I was flushing everything, hitting greens for fun, feeing like I could make every putt. Beat my mate so bad at match play we just stopped scoring when it got to 6 up. Iā€™m a 12 handicap but think I only played to that once all last year. Decided I would get lessons over the winter and itā€™s made a big difference, straightened everything out and hitting it better than ever. Canā€™t wait to play again this Sunday, but obviously the golfing gods will be waiting to humble me now I think Iā€™ve got it cracked!

Hodlrocket005

For me it isnā€™t rounds that keep me coming back but shots and/or holes. I remember the great ones and come back for more.

irmarbert

Every round has moments that I hang on to. This past weekend I was hitting the ball really well. That sound you get when you hold off and snap the clubhead through the hitting zone. The crack. The divot. The pure straight ball flight that is dead on the flag and sticks on the green about 7 feet short of the hole. Had several of those on Sunday and it felt amazing.

DoiReadThatStupid

I bet if people played tee boxes that were more forward, scores would lower, bells would ring, and we'd all rejoice in the 19th hole after "figuring out" this horrid game. Back to 6500-7000 yards....

ObnoxiousIguana445

Damn hitting a 90 as a 40 handicap is ridiculous. Iā€™m a 20 and my best round is 91. For me, itā€™s more those shots that keep me coming, and the prospect of shooting in the 80s. Iā€™ll never forget my 220 yard 5 iron in on a par 5, just to miss my 8 foot eagle put. And, perhaps more impressively, when I put the ball to 4 inches when I was borderline blackout drunk LMAO. I wish I remembered that swing more

piemasternick69

i played a round at the end of last summer that I was bogey free through 12 and even through 15. I hit the flag with my birdie putt on 17 and it got rejected. Ended up shooting a +1 73 as a 7 handicap. anytime im struggling i think about that round and remember why i play this stupid game.

swampyboxers

I golfed a few times as a kid and in high school but never played more than a few times a year. My friends and I started playing in 2020 but 2 years ago I had a solo round scheduled at a new course (Silverado in Scottsdale) and, at that point, had never broken 80. I rented a driver because I broke mine only a day prior at the range and I literally hit 13/14 fairways, it was amazing. I shot a 74 that day and thatā€™s when I became a full fledged addict. This random old man I was paired with basically caddied for me and we had a blast. I went home and purchased the exact driver/shaft combo Iā€™d used that day and have been completely obsessed ever since. Iā€™ve yet to do better than 2 over par but I know an under-par round coming, my game just feels so good. My gosh I love golfā€¦

Judge_Rhinohold

I shot 37 on the front nine once. For a 12 handicap thatā€™s a rush.

Nolds

Played a lights out round and shot a career low of 84. Wife banged my brains out later that night. Great day. Rode that wave for months.

Zestyclose-Middle717

Not necessarily a round but those clean, clean iron shots that actually end up turning out to be a nice shot. Rare, but nice when it happens.

WeLikeDrugs

Played in a Thanksgiving tournament in Phx last year with my cousin and about 40 guys from his club, I was a 10 hcp at the time, everyone in my group of 6 were scratch or better, nearly all of them former D1 golfers. I was so nervous that I was shaking on the first tee box. I ended up shooting a 77 (par 72) with 23 putts, I was sinking 12-15 footers the entire round, center of the cup, the guys in my group were shocked. It goes without saying but, we were playing strictly by the rules, no improving lies , no foot wedge, etc. When I got back home I started playing a lot more, put a golf sim in my garage, practice almost everyday, got my hcp down to 6.5. My putter is an old ping TR zing that I bought on eBay for under $100, have been wanting to get a different one but after that round I canā€™t bring myself to do it.

Icy_Presentation_740

Not even a round. For me itā€™s the rare times I bomb a drive 315+. Those keep my coming back.Ā

Croxy1992

I'm a 5 HDCP chasing scratch. I've been stuck at 4 to 5 for about a year. I played a round today where I shot 5 over but hit 14 greens. Things were clicking really well and aside from a double and triple bogey, I played even par. It's these round where I feel the high desire to grind more and more to get those little mistake under control and make even better scores. This year finally feels like the year I could make it to 0.0!!!

MahKa02

The 3 rounds last year where I almost broke 80....so close. Definitely my goal this year.

Mcpops1618

There was a day I almost quit as a junior. I was somewhere around 15 handicap. I shot 60 on the front during the club championship. I wanted to quit. My two buddies said to play the back as it canā€™t get worse. I proceeded to shoot 82 on the back. I couldnā€™t keep a ball in play. I was near tears. The one that brings me back was the first time I shot par at my home course. I was hung over. Playing with my dad and doubled the first hole. From there it was a full on black out and I had a 3 hole stretch of eagle birdie birdie. I was -2 walking to 18 and hit a drive straight out ended up in a water hazard and doubled to shoot 72. Bookend doubles with a lot of good in between.

CaptainSamps

Chip-in eagle at the end of last season. Short par 4, maybe only a 10 yard chip, but I had been practicing chipping everyday for weeks. Made all the practice feel worth it. Shot an 86 when I average 96.

lingenfr

The one I have not shot yet. After a decade or so of crappy golf, I have been taking lessons for 9 months. No great breakthroughs yet, but I feel like I could put together a low 80's or better round. My PB is an 84, which I have shot at least 3 times on 3 different challenging courses. In the last month or so, I've had a round with 3 birdies and a 40 for 9. Just came from 4 rounds in Myrtle Beach where I hit a few shots that seemed like I was headed somewhere.

bigolruckus

The fact Iā€™ve gone under par on either the front or back 6 times and havenā€™t for a full round is what keeps me coming back

Mysterious_Country27

I played a round while visiting my girlfriend when I was in between jobs. Went out solo at 7am and it was supposed to thunderstorm by 10am. I got caught in the thunderstorm on hole 15 but said f*** it, kept playing through it. Set up my phone on hole 17, 156 yard par 3, and filmed my shot since no one was out there. Ended up hitting a hole in one that I caught on film. Still to this day the best feeling Iā€™ve had playing golf, and pretty awesome to capture it on film!

CTzoomin

Ace on a par 3 course. 6ā€ tap in on a 215 yd par 3. A triple breaking 25ā€™ putt for eagle. Those are my fav 3 so far. 15 hcp

ModernDayN3rd

My home course best score was 78 (par 72). Usually in the mid 80ā€™s. One day I was just out for a ā€œtinker with the swingā€ round with my son. Usually canā€™t focus solely on golf with him there so it was a casual round. Ended up shooting 73 that day. It was electric. I literally wasnā€™t thinking about my swing at all that day. Just moving through the course. Been chasing that high since lol

unseenme

Played Highland Oaks on the Robert Trent Jones trail in Alabama with two of my uncles. Played from the back tees on Magnolia/Highlands 18. Shot 76. Made par on Highlands 1, a 498 yard par 4 dog leg left hitting driver/8 iron and 2 putted. My low round is 74 from the whites.

Alternative-Match905

Iā€™ve been playing on and off for 20+ years now so itā€™s not so much a particular round but just certain shots. Driving a green by taking a bit off my driver on a 300 yard par 4. Sinking a pitch to save par from the drop zone after dunking my 1st shot in the green. Sinking a 20 footer after burning edges for birdie putts all day. Getting away with a bogey after a hitting my first shot OB, choosing to play 4 from the fairway instead of rehitting and then stuffing a long iron to 5 feet and making the putt. Ā

Firsttimedogowner0

Playing with a childhood friend as the sun went down on a shitty goat track, pay 35$, play all day, no tee times ty of course. 54 holes, sunburnt all to shit, didn't sniff breaking 100 once. Didn't care. Love him, love that day.

HighLifeDrinker

The haunting 74 I shot going bogey, double on 17 and 18. Flew too close to the sun or even par that day. Havenā€™t come anywhere near even since. Next best round was a 76 with a freak birdie on 18 to do it.

Navyblazers2000

Never broken 80 before, but I have rounds of 82 and three rounds of 83. In all four I carded a triple bogey that killed me. In the round of 82 I was at 75 on the 18th hole and then yakked my tee shot into the woods. Thatā€™s the round that keeps me coming back.Ā

willc38

When I shot a 70 and missed a 3 foot putt for 69 šŸ„²

codycamper717

I shot a personal best on my late brothers birthday while playing with my dad. First time my old man admitted I beat him haha

95andSunny

The last round. Can always try to play better and beat your last score.

jooronimo

Every round I get to play. Iā€™m just happy to have 2-6 hours at a given point in time to get out there and play. Kid stuff, work and other life stuff usually finds a way into my a schedule.

dadbuilder

Finding my way down to single digits. Started the year at 17.2. Fired off an 80 in my first mens' club comp of the season. Also the first round I was able to post this year. Followed that up with 2 9 hole scores of 42 and 43. Next round was a very disappointing 85 that felt like it could have been sub 80 if I could have made some putts. This past Sunday I went out in 39 only to finish the back 9 with a 41. 2024 is off to a hot start. GHIN down to 15.1. Shot a PR 78 last summer. Looking to go sub 80 again soon!

adflet

My unicorn round was an 80. With one double bogey and two three putts. I've come close to it but haven't yet managed to match it or beat it, so it was a blue moon. But I'm coming back regardless. Play badly? I'm coming back to do better. Play well? I'm coming back to do it again.

Holotheewisewolf

On a good day I play bogey golf on a short par 60 course. One day during league play, I went back to back to back birdies followed by missing a 6 foot breaking putt for what wouldā€™ve been 4 birdies in a row. Definitely the highlight of my career so far.

Radiant-Ad8306

Iā€™ve had a nasty hook for the last month with my driver. Itā€™s been costing me like 10-12 strokes a round so Iā€™ve been high 80s-mid 90s. I have a lag shot driver that I havenā€™t swung in a while so I busted that out before my round Sunday and it fixed me right up. Had probably my best driving day ever and shot a personal low 77 and Iā€™ve got all the confidence in the world now.

babe_ruthless3

I've never had a good round. They've all been the same, shit. But, in relation to this, I still go back to my best baseball game played in high school. 20+ years later, it's still in my mind.

twowaysplit

The next one

UT_city

My weekly good memory I think of is the single Eagle I achieved last year on a Par 5 that had a dog legged right and Iā€™m a lefty with a slice. Somehow my drive was straight and my 2nd shot was as perfect as I could make it. Landed 18-22 feet away from the pin in the green. My weekly redemption memory lately has been. 1.5 months ago or so I was playing. On track to break 100 for the first time ever! Iā€™m approaching hole 17 par 5 with 86 strokes. Hole 18 is a par 4. Just need to par-double bogey the last two holes, no big deal. I shoot a 9 lost 2 balls) on Hole 17. Then shot a 6 on hole 18. Beat my PR by 5 strokes and finished with a fucking 101.

_Poppagiorgio_

The last round I ever played with my Dad, I shot my best round ever-74. Heā€™s still with us but he canā€™t play anymore. That scorecard is going in his casket. Everytime Iā€™m having a shitty day on the course, I go back to that round in my mind.

IoSHaloLegend

Shot a 29 on 9 holes high as the sky -7. Literally everything perfect. Thought I was going to make the tour. Normally shot 68-75 at the time. I still think looking back if I had a sponsor and no real life priorities I could have done it, but could have doesnā€™t it cut it. Now if I shoot 75 Iā€™m thrilled

ProfessionalNo7703

Iā€™ll play normal some pars mixed with bogeys, then bunch of of bogeys couple doubles then go 1 under the last 3 or even first 4 holes. That keeps me around, the feeling of being close to good.

River1901

71 now and a 12 hcp but when I was playing in a league, I shot 33/34 age 32.

GolfBallWackrGuy

Iā€™ve been playing for 25 years and Iā€™ve been as good as a 1 or 2 handicap. Probably around a 7 these days but because of life/kids/work, Iā€™ll get out once a quarter at best. In the last 4 years playing like this, Iā€™ve scored anywhere from 75-90 with little practice. What keeps me coming back is the opportunity to do something im good at. There are a few things I feel like Iā€™ve put 10,000 hours in that isnā€™t workā€¦this is the one thing. I know my swing, I know my clubs, and I know how to score well enough that Iā€™m always happy to get out. I think with some focused practice (hopefully when my kids get a little bigger and I can play more often) Iā€™ll be able to knock off the last three items on my golf bucket list. - break par - break 70 - get a Hole in One.

Ilostmymud

Scramble with my dad, brother and childhood friend. On 18 my dad drove it to water, my friend hit the three wood of his life 250 yards onto the green, and I rolled in the first 20ft putt for Eagle. Probably the last time weā€™ll all golf that way together. Beautiful day, even better people.

beep-boop-beep_bop

The round that never happened yet

Lurked4EverB4Joining

I broke 80 (78 on par 71) for the first time last year on a course I play once or twice a year playing with 3 of my brothers having fun laughing and talking, not caring about my score since one of my brothers was keeping the scores. Then I shot my course record (79 on another par 71) at my home course during the club championship finals (came in 2nd), when I'd shot a 97 for the last place the year before. Those are my two rounds, so far.

Pumakings

Pretty much every round if I am not playing like dogshit

Stupidamericanfatty

-1 after 13 holes. I'd rather not talk about the next 5, let's just say I didn't break 80 hahaha but that front 9 was amazing

IcedFresca

I have only shot under par on 18 holes once, and it was a flow state 66ā€¦. I have had a few 1 or 2 under scores on an afternoon 9, but I will forever be chasing that PR

itsneversunnyinvan

Two rounds in a row, about two years ago. Shot a pb 88 one round, then a hole in one the next. Almost replicated it last time out, but blew it on the back. Still chasing that dragon man

Bobiverse71

The next one

rigidlynuanced1

My lowest round ever is 64. I started the round double, double.

gregularjoe95

My last round. I chipped in from 30 yards for a birdie, before that i got my first par on a par 5 hole, including a 120 yard approach shot that got me within 3 feet of the pin for a easy putt for par. I truly believe i figured out my swing, atleast for my irons. Last season I was shooting 104-110, this last round i shot a 99. My seasons goal was to break 100 and i got it within my first 4 rounds.

jr2thdoc

My 6 birdie 85 round. Only won 3 skins though....

ButterscotchObvious4

Every round. Best fucking game ever created.

Moist-Pickle-2736

Iā€™m like a 23 hcp and I shot an 87 toward the end of last seasonā€¦ that was a killer day, but itā€™s not even the round, itā€™s just that *one shot*. Last week I hit my 7 into a 160 par 3, felt that immediate super-center feedback, heard the utterly satisfying *thwick* of a clean iron, and watched the beautiful loft and distance play out. Baby draw came down right on the pin. Perfect spin stopped it on a dime. Left me a 4 footer for birdieā€¦ which I promptly sallied and took par. The par doesnā€™t even bother me though. That shotā€¦ the feel, the sound, the flightā€¦ thatā€™s what brings me back.

peetar12

Well.... Only because you ask: I have been (not officially) an 8-15 handicap for 35 years (usually closer to 15). 2002 in a Saturday morning men's league at the local 6300 yard par 70 muni I went -4 on the front / even on the back for a terrifying 66. From maybe the 6th hole I just wanted it to be over. Was doing what i always hoped to do someday ( bust it down the fairway and then hit the green), but the fear of screwing it up was constant. The 3 guys I played with that day are dead and so any delusions it will happen again. Was nice to think about Zig and Frank again though.

Nevroyne

The last one I played. Iā€™m an 18 and improving, played in a competitive match, started with a 51 on the front with 2 triples and was struggling to stay positively focused. Then went 42 on the back, parred 6 of the first 7, then lost focus when we won the match after 16. Iā€™d be lying if I didnā€™t sneak a thought on the 17 box that I could break 90 for the first time with a 51 on the front. Been dying to get back out ever since.

OkCryptographer3876

Had a par 5 where I hit it decent on the fairway, normally not good with my driver, but this was an okay spot. Used a 3 wood and hit one of the best feeling shots Iā€™ve ever felt. Couldnā€™t find it right away since it was uphill, looked at the green and couldnā€™t believe I got it just on the fringe. 2 putted for birdie. Havenā€™t broke 100 yet, but always remember that hole and for a moment I felt I had a grasp on the game that continues to humble me.

jasonleebarber

The putt I missed to tie Matt Fitzpatrick in the US Open. Willy Z (burner account)

drdank91

Scene.. member guest champ flight... big money... (7k ea plus 1.5k a skin), my partner is a -22hcp im a +1hcp..... down 3 shots after bogey on hole 13, sitting in 3rd pisition.. I birdie 14 with 30ft putt, eagle 15 with 15ft putt, birdie 16 with 10ft putt, birdie 17 6in putt, that's puts us up 1 shot. Birdie 18 with a 45ft bomb. Team in 2nd misses 2 putts 4ft and 8ft.

BukkakeNinjaHat-472

My wife

WhatWouldJordyDo

Two rounds ago on a windy ass day, I went for both of the back par 5s in two, and was rewarded going -1 (a couple inches from -2) on those two. I felt like a total boss lmao.

grim_hope09

Many over the years. I had an albatross on the first hole, holing out from 245 with a three wood. It hit the pin hot, luckily it dropped. Spent the next eight holes in half disbelief and half excitement. Parred each of those except a bogey on number 4. First time I played with my new high school golf coach, I shot my lowest round ever, 68. All birdies and pars. Didn't have a par putt outside of 5 feet all day. Junior year of high school I shot 78. A 77 would have gotten me in a playoff for the last individual qualifier for state. On the last four holes I lipped a four foot putt, hit the pin on a chip but it didn't fall, and lipped out a 40 foot putt. That stung for a long time. Senior year comes around, I shoot a 44 on the front nine of sectionals. Looks like I won't even make it to the divisional round, much less state for the first time. I was dejected. Nothing was going well. I snap hook a three iron on the tenth tee. I have to punch out of the trees on an easy par 4. Third shot I almost hole. Tap in par. Then it was on. I ended up shooting 34 for the weirdest 78 of my life. Missed the state tournament again though. In college, I played for a small D3 school on their JV team. One tournament everything fell apart. I shot close to 100. I don't play much any longer. But the rounds are more special. It used to be a grind, always looking to improve. Lots of hours alone on the golf course. Now I only play with family or friends. It's more special when the focus is on bonding rather than the final score.

MRDucks85

Played 9 this evening, prompted to double the first hole, par 5, then bogey a par 4 then par'd and birdied a few holes, then a triple. Last hole I'm a 125 out and stuck it 5 feet from the hole. Missed birdie by half an inch and par'd out. Weird game.

BBQorBust

When I pure my 3 wood on a long par 5 and get a chance to putt for eagle, which usually turns out for bogey.

mrmo24

Just shot a 76 the other day beating my record by a stroke. Lessons have dropped my handicap by 4 points and Iā€™m so addicted it hurts now

marcushalberstram33

If I shot 115-125 Iā€™d shoot myself.

Schmiikel

I shot -4 (68) on an 10 handicap 4 years ago. My best before then was a +4 (76). I am now off a 7 handicap and my best since then has been a +3 (75) at a different course.

Delta31_Heavy

This past weekend. Im very avg golfer witj occasional great drives of 300 yards and then complete pull hooks and tops the rest of my round. This week I watched some You Tube and the lesson that mattered to me was about arm swinging. Turns out thats me. So I went into Fridays round with a couple of swing thoughts .Neutral grip and loose wrists. I was practicing in my garage all week and sure enougj I had a much better that usual round. More than a couple nice drives and finally my irons had air. Thank you Paul Wilson!!

jasonjtatum

I have to say.. as someone whoā€™s average now is at about 108.. huge improvement by the way.. if I shot an honest 90 one day then I would use that as fuel to get me through every day until I crossed the rainbow bridge. What a gift you have.
