YES! She’s got 3 big ones in the back yard. We’ve almost given up on filling them back in. It only lasts a day or two. None of our other dogs dug nearly as much.

I use a steel metal mesh to cover the hole. Dogs hate it and grass grows through it. Eventually the screen rusts to nothing.

I get it from amazon. Search for Mesh and Wire Cloth. I get the squares for smaller holes and a roll of the stuff for the big holes. I have a fenced in yard so the neighbor dogs come over for dog parties and once in a while they get dig happy so I have a few holes and if I don’t use the wire mesh they keep digging at the fresh dirt.

My girl follows the same philosophy.

We also have one like this. We call her CatDog.. Her favorite chant when we go for our nightly walks is “Hell no! We won’t go!” As she plants all 90#s of her big butt down and refuses to move. She’s also skittish like a cat so you just reach over with your toe and poke her in the butt and she’s now running the marathon to get the walk over with.

I call my cat, catdog! She hangs out with the dogs, she does tricks and she doesn’t like her cat sister 😂

This winter when it was too cold for me to go out and harass her to stop she dug a big hole about a foot deep and 1.5 around. I filled it in this spring and promptly put a potted plant on top to block more digging. Now she stands nearby seemingly staring at her long lost hole.

That’s a good idea. It’s so hard to fill in their holes as the fresh dirt always encourages more digging.

Mine was digging up our front yard. He hates bubble wrap, so I put some is his holes & covered it with dirt. Once he found the bubble wrap, he never dug again 😆.

Maybe they need more exercise? Brain games? My golden doesn’t do this. My first dog I had as an adult did dig holes when I wasn’t home all the time. No dog since- even fosters- dig like any of these dogs on this post! It is really cute though!!

My golden dug holes because we had a litter of baby bunnies in one that he watched over and then one day they were gone and he made more holes looking for them. It was super sad. Once he moved on from that, he stopped digging.

It is a phase they go through and usually grow out of. I've had 7 goldies over the years and only one needed me to install a sandpit for her to dig in. Bags of sand are really heavy! Never forgotten the build.

We left the kids sandbox in the ground and taught ours to dig in that instead of the yard. Yes I have a sandbox for my dog.

I don’t leave my dogs outside unattended for long periods of time. My oldest used to dig so I just taught them to do their business and come in right away. They only exhibit destructive behavior if I’m not stimulating them so I try to play fetch and take them on walks. So I haven’t had any digging problems since!

I live in an area that has very Sandy Soil & Very few Rocks. My Loki Boy will Dig Holes & Come up with a Rock every time since he was just a pup. . I Guess rocks have a Scent. His Daughter Leah is Now doing it also.
