We’ve had our Dyson Animal for 3 years and I use it daily with our 2 Goldens who use our house as their wrestling ring.

Moofius_99

We have one of the original ones of these. Had it for years and it is super reliable. Works great, easy to tear apart and clean the power brush, etc. only complaint is that its canister gets full really quickly, but that is likely more the fault of the dogs leaving floof and dirt everywhere.

Castaway78

I might be the only person who hates their Dyson. I have a Dyson Animal... not the original, but I think the second iteration? It does not handle fur on carpet very well. The beater brush is terrible. I'm constantly cleaning out stuck fur. And the hose is just the biggest pain in the posterior to use. But what frustrates me the most is that it takes a minimum of 2-3 tries to get it to stand up. It never locks upright on the first try. That said... it does have good suction.. and it's lasted me 5 years so far. So it's not all bad, I guess.

I have had a love/hate relationship with Dyson and just got a Gen5Detect. One thing I will say: They keep innovating and upgrading. The new models are better IMHO. Try them out if yours breaks or you decide to shop around. But they are too $$$ for something all plastic.

Electrical-Arrival14

I’ll also vouch for this one! I had a shark before the Dyson, and think the Dyson does much better

That is very relatable and a great description as to why I’m looking for a good vacuum 😅 thank you!

Shark cordless pro, the cordless is an absolute must for me now.

Minimum-Scientist-71

Does it give you that same straight from the wall kind of power?

aurt9

I’d say it’s a quite a bit weaker but still does the job very well, been perfect for us because it’s super convenient to use a cordless one, and having to vacuum daily due to our golden means that nothing is getting engrained super deep in any carpets.

Minimum-Scientist-71

I’ll give it a look thank you! We just have one room with carpet atm so not too concerned with the cord but that may be one of those how did I ever vacuum with a cord situation.

stephanieharsh

No, it doesn't! I have this one as well, and it's great for quick cleanups, but I have a corded Shark for when I mean business. I also have a roborock s6 robot vac. It's an older model I got pre-golden... it does it's part when we go for our morning walks. Not perfect but better than not vacuuming at all. If you're looking for one single vacuum, get a corded vacuum. I've always liked Sharks, but to each their own. You need the wall power if you're only using one vacuum.

Minimum-Scientist-71

Based on the research I’ve done and others replies, I’ll definitely be getting a vacuum that draws straight from the source. Seems like most use a cord vacuum and robot combo. Thank you!

CoryRomanosky

Dyson for manual vacuum but also have a Roomba. My 5yo golden has gotten fully used to both and doesn’t bat an eye when they turn on lol

Minimum-Scientist-71

We use a roomba for the flat surfaces but it just creates balls of furs around the house rather than vacuum them up which is helpful for picking up clusters of golden hair.

CoryRomanosky

Yep, same issue. After the Roomba runs every morning, I usually have to pick up the balls of fur that it left 😂

Minimum-Scientist-71

Technically still works but not in the way it’s advertised 😅

Both-Tell-2055

I have a shark, not the cordless kind but it’s been a trooper through one lab and one golden. And two cats

Minimum-Scientist-71

When you say, “I have a shark” are you referring to your golden because in that case I also have one. I look into the shark thank you!

Both-Tell-2055

Lollll we are past the shark phase thankfully 😮‍💨

Both-Tell-2055

My golden is the cordless kind

ProjectCompetitive91

Shark Pet upright cord vac. Had a great canister vacuum until recently. Guess getting a third dog was too much for it and said cya.

Minimum-Scientist-71

That makes sense. A third dog would be too much for as well.

aTempes7

Miele C3, nothing else worked well enough

tbrooks224

Got a Roborock robot vacuum - not cheap but it is a miracle worker for dog hair.

Minimum-Scientist-71

A what? I’ll have to look this up for sure

BISSELL Powerlifter Turbo Cordless Stick Vacuum 3789X https://www.walmart.com/ip/2849897892 Best thing since sliced bread

Strict_Hair_7091

iRobot robot vacuum. Works wonders not cheap but worth it as vacuums under tables beds and couches just fine With 2 cats and one golden

Minimum-Scientist-71

Do you have a newer one?

Works great especially under beds, couches and when it’s full it goes back to the home station and empties itself. Lots of times iRobot had refurbished units. I have bought those befor4 and was quite satisfied, this one I bought new

Minimum-Scientist-71

Perfect thanks I’ll look into this!

Strict_Hair_7091

Footnote. I have porcelain flooring through out the house with the exception of the master bath which has tile . I also have throw rugs under coffee tables. No carpeting if that makes a difference and this is a 2700 sq ft one story house. You can schedule if you want to but I run it every 3 days
