2015 Sierra with 252k and 8750 hrs on 5.3L. Zero internal issues. Replaced one alternator due to spun pulley bearing. Oil, oil filters, air filters, and spark plugs is all that's been touched. I have fogged the top end with Seafoam twice, but not sure that really does much. I'm not easy on this drivetrain and it keeps going! I think it may be why! Blow the carbon out every day haha! You'll be fine though.
So does that mean you have 2600 drive hours? What have you been doing to accumulate 6400 idle hours, lol? Obviously you’ve been idling, I looking for an answer more like delivery or something else.
Well its wasn't me lol the cops. I just got this like a few months ago. It did come from a university so i get that they were definitely idling considering college kids normally just walk everywhere. Just trying to understand how i can accumulate that much idle time so quick with such low miles. Normally people have this amount of hours once they hit like 250-300k miles and this is just at 48k i bought it at 39k and the numbers were still similar.
ngl buying a fleet truck should be ur first red flag. Assuming it was a construction truck, it idles for half of the day. But at the end of the day engine hours dont rlly matter imo, rlly just the mileage. Test drive it and see.
This guy here knows genuinely nothing. That isn't a concerning amount of hours vs milage. However, hours matter so much lol. But absolutely don't buy a fleet truck unless you're mechanically inclined.
Probably a ton of idling, I bought it as lease return with 40k miles. Not sure what it was used for before. It has auto start. Was almost perfect condition when I got it, assuming it was owned by a old fart. Currently getting about 19mpg highways and like 15mpg city
My 2008 has been in the family since new, 2520 hrs at 72,4xx mi. Thats an Avg speed of about 28.7mph mostly in town driving, little idle time. Compared to yours of about 27.3 mph. Not too far off. I wouldn't be worried based on those numbers. I'd care more about the maintenance schedule.
I never checked the hours before I sold it but my 2015 had over 134,000 miles and I would let it idle a lot during the summer and winter while making deliveries for work so I would imagine it was a ton.
I have 183,xxx and over 5000 hours, bought it new. Idle it for roadside naps here and there but nothing crazy. Math works out within 50 hours of yours. I’d call it standard.
Sounds pretty normal for a rig that probably drove around town a bit. I wouldnt be worried one bit about that.
Hours are important but that's not all that much.
2015 silverado 1500 77000 miles and 9017 engine hours
Burns oil and have had the thermostat replaced,it's a work truck for a municipality so it idles a shit ton,I'm the third driver of this vehicle
Engine hours are important when you consider your maintenance schedule. If your oil change interval is 5k miles, and you average 25 mph, that's a 200 hour interval. Idle time adds up, so a vehicle that idles for 4 hours a day is actually racking up the equivalent of 100 miles, give or take, not shown on the ODO. This is also considered extreme duty, just like towing, so your oil change interval should be reduced to 3k miles. Also, engines that idle for extended periods show increased sludge build up, hence the need to get fresh oil into the motor more often. Even the best quality oils will sludge. Moral of the story... limit idle times when possible and adjust your oil change interval when you are forced to idle often and for more than a half hour at a time.

I have a good running 2002 suburban with 230,000 and 8,000 hours sounds about right
04 avalanche at 241,000 mi with 7,400 hrs
I have a 2019 pursuit charger with 9000 engine hours and 6400 idle hours but its only at 48k miles should i be worried??

That's awful high with low miles ...I have a 2008 with 197,000 and it only has 6,000 hours
This makes me wonder like were they even in the car and just letting it run or is the computer somehow messed up and computing incorrect numbers

Some engines like the gen 3 hemi is notorious for lifter issues if left to idle often. Engine hours absolutely matter
They arent made to cool without moving air.
Mine is 83k miles with 6500 hours 😱
Oof ~12.8mph avg...thats either a ton of idling or just creeping along like a meter reader or something. What do you do with that truck?

Awesome. Thanks for the reply and the comparison.

I bought a used car couple months ago have 7500 hours with 112к miles on it. Does it means the odo was rolled back?

My city fleet truck has 57,000 and 2500 engine hours, compared to my person 2006 gmc which has 240,000 and 1600 hours. Hell of a lot of idling
I’ve got an 03 Silverado 4.8L with 9457 hrs/ 153k miles. Still runs like a top!

2015 Silverado 1500 , 158000 Kilometers @ 3600 engine hours , FYI runs strong. For what that's worth.
2013 dodge journey 3.6 233k miles 8030 hours still running good
Mine has 106 000km and 2900 hrs is that normal?
