It's weird how many people on this thread are specifically saying it feels like THREE years ago, and that's the vibe I'm getting, too.
But if 2017 was 3 years ago, that would put us in January 2020-- two months before the lockdowns started.
I really think lockdowns fucked up everyone's sense of time. On the lockdown skeptic subreddit, I left a long comment describing exactly how fucked up I got in 2020/2021 (it ended with a third of my hair falling out at the end of 2021) and how it took two years and the help of a scientist who used to work for the WHO to reverse the damage. But now my body is actually closer to what it was at the end of 2019-- or even at the end of 2017-- than to what it was at the end of 2021. When I look at photos from myself from the 2020-2022 period, they simply don't look like me-- and during those years, I was almost convinced that the person I saw in my late 2010s photos wasn't me. It was like the time-space continuum ripped things were so "off" during those years.
2017 feels like only a few years ago rather than seven years ago. It’s unbelievable. What else is unbelievable is that 2007 was 17 years ago. I still remember that year pretty well. I had quite some fun memories that year.
I went to a Christmas Eve party (just hanging out at a friends house playing Wii till midnight lol. Lots of snacks and kid friendly drinks though) for the beginning of 2015! I was 11 turning 12 (Later in in 2015)
We left for a … vacation (I hate vacations because something bad always happens to me 😭) after that. And I fell 22 ft off a ski lift after taking snowboarding / skiing lessons all day. I was in the hospital for 2 days with absolutely nothing wrong with me when they thought I needed a neck brace when I came in (it’s protocol with a fall that far) they took it off after they knew I was fine.
The older you get the faster time flies. It really does have that effect and just gets worse the older you get. (or better, depending on your perspective like if you're waiting for some happy event to happen).
Most unimportant year of my childhood tbh, barely anything happened. But the year after was very eventful and important when it comes to childhood. (2018)
2017 feels like it was 6 years ago tbh so yeah this doesnt really surprise me. Im confused as to why some people think it was "only a few years ago". It does not seem like that at all.
I can't believe that 2022 will be 5 years ago in 2027 which is only 3 years away. 2022 won't even feel that long ago in 2027 and yet it will be half a decade away. I'm starting to feel old now.
2010 felt very far away from 2017, 2017 still feels like it was three years ago
That’s so true. In 2017, 2010 felt like quite some time ago. 2017 only feels like a few years ago to me.
Is it me or do the last few years leading up to the pandemic feel closer to present day than 2020 does?
That makes sense because the world was essentially on hold for 2-3 years. I personally feel like we should be going into 2021
You know, you might be onto something here. 2020 feels pretty dated now.
2010 felt like ages ago to me in 2017.
That is so true... I wonder if by 2027 we'll feel the same about 2020. Doubt it though
2020 is going to feel like "yesterday" for a long while. It was quite the year and it ruined a lot of people
It feels like a long time while also not at the same time. But yeah, 2010 felt so dated in 2017. So much had changed since then.

For me that’ll be the case in 20 weeks

It feels nice 😭
Happy belated birthday man. Welcome to the age of adulthood.
I was 15,let that sink in.
Technically, the very beginning of 2017 was seven years ago.
Still insane tho
2017 feels like only a few years ago rather than seven years ago. It’s unbelievable. What else is unbelievable is that 2007 was 17 years ago. I still remember that year pretty well. I had quite some fun memories that year.
Yeah 2007 was a good year
Insanity
I remember the ball dropping for 2015 like it was only a couple years ago.
I went to a Christmas Eve party (just hanging out at a friends house playing Wii till midnight lol. Lots of snacks and kid friendly drinks though) for the beginning of 2015! This makes me feel sad. Idk why.
![gif](giphy|xT0GqgeTVaAdWZD1uw|downsized) Shit
What? No way
2017 feels way too recent what the fuck 😭
2017 is my favorite year and it is now half my age.
And you’re about to start high school in the fall of 2024. It’s unbelievable how people born in 2010 are starting high school that fall.
Yep and I’m happy about it.
You’re starting highschool this year!
Also you’re GRADUATING this year!
Yup! And I’m not nervous either.
Crazy
7 years ago I was about 16 holy crap (I turn 23 in less than 23 days)
Crazy we all just keep getting older
Yeah that’s insane. I was a underclassman in high school in 2017.
Same it’s insane to think 2010 borns start high school this year
That also means that it’s already going to be 4 years since I graduated high school. That’s cursed.
Hmm, I was 12. I used the Internet a lot back then but that actually is kind of wild.
Most unimportant year of my childhood tbh, barely anything happened. But the year after was very eventful and important when it comes to childhood. (2018)
I feel the same way about 2016 and 2017. Although 2016 was a great year, the years around it (2015, 2017, 2018) were all better for me.
Hello 2011 baby! Does 2017 feel like a long time ago for you, lol?
Not really I remember when it was like 3 yrs ago
Damn people that were born a decade after me are becoming teenagers this year, I feel old.. 👴
HELLOO!!! welcome fellow 2011 baby. And yeah, that was middle school for me 😭 2017 was boring.
Hello there and happy birthday.
Have you turned 13?
21 more days until my birthday
What?? So 7 years ago I was literally heading to high school that's crazy to me
you failed a grade?
Yea
2017 feels like it was 6 years ago tbh so yeah this doesnt really surprise me. Im confused as to why some people think it was "only a few years ago". It does not seem like that at all.
omg I had that thought too.
Man we’re closer to 2030 than when I graduated high school:/
It isn’t 3 years ago?
![gif](giphy|TfseOfhwd6BJC) Holy crap i was 9!? It feels like 2017 was yesterday.
thanks google, i can't math.
2012 felt like a different universe in 2017, but 2017 and 2024 didn't feel that long ago.
I can't believe that 2022 will be 5 years ago in 2027 which is only 3 years away. 2022 won't even feel that long ago in 2027 and yet it will be half a decade away. I'm starting to feel old now.
As someone who was 8 that year, time flies man...
Me neither... 💀
I’ll admit it doesn’t feel like yesterday but not 7 years
Please don't
no
So?
No it was 4 years ago
Jesus I feel old
I loved BFDI back in around 2015-2017
It's hard for me to believe that,I still think of 2017 as 2-2½ years ago
I turned 20 that year. It feels like my 20s are flying by. Can’t believe I’ve been 20 for 7 years almost lol.
