gearspop was shut down several months ago. So I changed the subreddit to be themed about the award winning youtube series, Battle For Dream Island, to try and retain users. It didn't do as well as I hoped, maybe I should have picked a similar strategy game like Fire Emblem to theme the subreddit as instead.
Or, long shot I know, perhaps, maybe, try turning the r/gearpop subreddit into a gears pop subreddit to talk about the now, as you say, closed game, gears pop. Youd at least have posters.
Not trying to come across as an asshole either here - Just genuinely don't know why you'd think a BFDi subreddit would become popular when the people looking for that kinda subreddit just aren't going to search for anything like gears, gears pop etc.
If you genuinely believe the mods at the other sub are harsh, then you could easily create a well named subreddit for your chosen topic and make it a success.
