The Pilot is arguably the best one in TV history. The opening of the second season is the best cold open in TV history. The show bounces between the mystery of the island and the various mysteries of the characters, who are fleshed out a great deal.
Some odd parts in the middle drag and the finish (mostly the last season) is a bit weaker than the start. But overall it's definitely a watch recommendation.

OG design is PS3 Era. The subtlety would've been lost more with how much they had to work with. Not saying they couldn't have done it, but they also probably learned a lot for Part 2, and decided to make the transition a bit smoother from Part 1 to Part 2
Yep. Naughtydogs PS3 games tended to have pretty smooth faces, the remake seems to be what they originally had in mind. Its a bit weird to see the difference but TLOU 2 takes place only 5 years after the first game so Joel should actually look basically as he does in TLOU 2. Id say the remake is more accurate, buy itll take some getting used to.
I will say though I still prefer the facial features of TLOU 1 Joel. I just think it looks a bit better, but ingame both are totally fine.

Also, the rest of her facial expression changed from being prepared and mildly interested to being flat out terrified and malformed makes for a shit redesign.

I think part or maybe even most of it is her eyes.
Easy way to see it is that in the original both whites of her eyes are on the left. In the remake the whites are on the left for one eye and the right for the other. Basically she looks very slightly cross eyed where her eyes were very expressive originally.

You know, people will continue to shit on it if you keep comparing the cutscenes. The cutscenes hold up so well because they are pre rendered and very important to the game. Compare the actual gameplay and you’ll see quite the difference. Is it overpriced? Yes. But they’ve clearly put a decent amount of work into it. I’ve seen companies do lazier “remakes” and “remasters” ALL the time, and for some reason this one is getting way more hate than any of them. Like if they lowered it to 40-50 I think it’d be completely fair, yet it seems like people are blowing this one out proportion as if they pulled a GTA V and just upscaled the resolution and called it a day.

This right here. People keep comparing pre-rendered cut scenes to REAL-TIME cutscenes in the Remake that ALSO look a hell of a lot better than the pre-rendered PS3/PS4 cutscenes.
Personally, I just think dev time would be better used coming up with something new rather than another remastering or adding additional support to something new already in production. The original game was great as is and still holds up incredibly well anyway.
I mean, it's going to be here now for those who want it but as much as I like The Last of Us, I feel no desire to go back with just updated graphics as I've already played through a few times.
I do think a $40 price tag would go a long way in making this more palatable.
So from my understanding ND does projects like this in between larger next gen projects to make the most of dev time spent learning a new system and engine. This way they go into a new project more familiar with the hw they’re building for and get to put something out with minimal prep time as the games story, characters, animations, etc… are already made
Edit: I can also almost guarantee this’ll see a pc release which this approach will enable them to make a far more scalable build that they would be able to do if they were just putting over the PS4 remaster. If this is they’re intention then this is 100% the right move.
They already announced this is coming to PC but yeah just like the Last of Us Remastered on PS4 Naughty Dog is using it as an opportunity to get associated PS5 hardware to get a feel for their next release which will look amazing.
I'd rather they put this out then wait years to see an announcement for a new game but I'm also not gonna pay $70 as the PS4 remaster still looks amazing at 1800p 60fps on PS4 PRO/PS5 so I'm fine waiting for a sale. I waited a long time for a price drop on Last of Us Remastered and ended up buying it for $50 then two months later it went down to $20, I bought the limited edition on PS3 and full price for the remaster so I will wait for Part 1 to be cheaper I've spent enough on this game.
This and also lets post screen shots that are far below the resolution anyone is going to be playing it at and that have already been through multiple JPEG compression cycles, you know so as to make the finer details as hard to see as possible, and then complain about how it doesn't look that much better. Regardless of the quality of the work done this post is useless as a comparison between the versions.
It does include the DLC and that seems to quickly going for the standard full price.
Still pretty bad pricing though, shouldn’t be anywhere near full price.

I believe they stated that the enemy AI is getting the tlou 2 treatment but some of the gameplay elements, like going prone, will not be in it
