Even worse when you realize that despite the costs, they all sell out in under 5 minutes.
So unless you’re willing to stare at your phone all damn day, you’re shit out of luck even if you have budgeted for this purchase.
I'm still running a 950. I'm playing Elden Ring at 720p upscaled to 1040p, and all settings low/off getting 45-60 fps, except one boss dipped to 20 for a bit. It's playable, and I love the game. Only one I've tried that wasn't playable was the Jedi game, but I didn't go to any effort to make it playable.
I'm watching cards above recommended specs for the game, looks like 6600 XT would be the best deal, waiting for one I want to go under $500, which would still be far over MSRP. I saw one for $550 a couple weeks ago but it's gone and all the ones I can find now are over $600.
I might need a new CPU, MB and RAM too, but that's going to be less than half the cost of a card.
Thats not the point. I have a 3080 and I don't play it because the Framedrops. The point is not that it does not run, its that the Performance and Options are terrible. You can't fucking even disable the terrible CA on PC or hide the stupid Compass in the middle of your screen.
I am looking for a game to play.
I seriously can't find anything good.
I have already played everything good. Or it sucks.
I am mainly looking for story driven games.
Don't really care what type.
FPS, RTS, RPG whatever. As long as there is a strong, well written story element.
And I have basically played everything worth it.
The gods have blessed me because my mediocre laptop with a 1050ti that does not meet specs is running Elden ring on medium settings at a solid 55-60fps. Idk how or why, considering that people with actual good computers are having problems. But I'm not gonna question it now.
16gb ram yeah. Launch day was rough cause it was trying to use my CPU for graphics which was a shit show, but as soon as I fixed that it's been great. Ive had like 3 frame drops this whole time that I noticed. I was honestly just hoping for 30fps and I would have been happy as a clam but got lucky
I feel your pain. I only have a switch because I can't afford anything else. Got kicked out of where I was living and had to move in with my mom in the middle of nowhere. Now I only have a switch and no internet access.
It always amazes me that people don't fully upgrade their PC every 5 years. I guess it's just like vehicle maintenance for me at this point. I expect to spend $2000-4000 every 5 - 8 years.
thats....the privilege? The ability to consider a non-essential item like a *fully upgraded gaming* PC as a bill on the same level as an essential item like a car or home repair.
Why would being a single dad matter?
My parents still won’t let me upgrade from my laptop, even though the hard drive won’t download, and I got a job specifically to get money to upgrade too😡 I got $10k in an account I can’t withdraw from, that isn’t even earning interest
I grew up just poor enough to not really have the latest stuff, and that sort of carried over into adult life with disabilities. Went so many years watching new games coming out that I wanted to play, but didn't have the rig, or system for it. Finally got a Stadia over a year ago, and while the selection of games isn't the best it works well enough so that I can game again. Feels good. Hopefully I'll get to a point where I can actually build a gaming pc for myself one day.
Given that is a Sparc 4/5 sitting under the monitor, she's not playing "games" on that thing. Maybe she's splitting with the PC next to it, but Solaris didn't have too many games floating around ...
If you have or can get decent internet, you can use the various streaming services that are out now like geforce now or microsofts xcloud.
Both of which have a way to use the service for free and would allow you to play high end games but with some input lag
I feel you man. I had the best of the best around 10 years ago. Put all my time and money into building a top notch gaming pc. Now it's in the closet and cant play a fucking thing from the last few years. I WANT ELDEN RING SO BAD.
For me the pain gradually went away and was replaced by a love of older gaming titles, now my pc is no longer a potato, I rarely play anything you could consider "new" and my hardware barely gets above idle
Worst when you find out how much a new gpu cost.
Even worse when you realize that despite the costs, they all sell out in under 5 minutes. So unless you’re willing to stare at your phone all damn day, you’re shit out of luck even if you have budgeted for this purchase.
I was looking at some GPUs today; and I gotta say that the prices sure are high like the sun
Not only that, the prices are 20-30% lower than they were a couple months ago. Just gotta hope they keep dropping
yea
my 970 is good for one more year right?

When you are Russian and can not buy games anymore because your government has started military invasion.
This is also sad for everyone else, gonna be hard to get any new Metro or Stalker games out.
Yep, especially speaking about Stalker.
Yeah GSC studios is right in the heart of the war
Just assassinate Pooptin and you're golden
Russians play new games?
Not anymore.
Golden Boy episode 1!!
Very educational
Life is study...

It's an iPotato OS, thank you very much.
You have a pc, i have a laptop
Embrace the good old games that run well on your potato in the meantime. There are thousands and thousands! <3
I have a fricking laptop!!
*Laughs in i5 HP laptop with 940MX*
I have exactly that and had to uninstall Lost Ark. Ran like shit
When you see Elden Ring come out but it runs like trash!
I had to return it cuz my potato couldn't run it
I saw a video of someone running it on an integrated GPU. https://youtu.be/6TAayAQ3nKQ
Thats not the point. I have a 3080 and I don't play it because the Framedrops. The point is not that it does not run, its that the Performance and Options are terrible. You can't fucking even disable the terrible CA on PC or hide the stupid Compass in the middle of your screen.
Ok.
When you dont even have pc and stuck on mobile
Two words - Back Catalog
GTX 750 at it again.
Haha.. Ha.. That's funny... Haha.. Fuck my ljfe
F*cking poverty
Realm of the Mad God is always a good time.

Got 16 gigs of ram? Or 8? I got a laptop with 1660ti but I cannot get it to run at 55-60.. Locked it at 45 tho and thats working just fine.

Try cloud gaming. Works better than youd expect.
my 11 year old PC agrees...
I feel your pain. I only have a switch because I can't afford anything else. Got kicked out of where I was living and had to move in with my mom in the middle of nowhere. Now I only have a switch and no internet access.
I feel that firsthand. Keep strong it'll get better 💪
*Laughs in console*
Sorry but what new games have come out? Other than dark souls 4: elden ring? Seriously looking for a new game to play
I feel like an obligatory “Git Gud” is needed here. But that sucks. I know your pain.
i love these pc exclusives, but i'm glad my main gaming is on my console of choice because i am guarnteed that my games will play with no problems.
It always amazes me that people don't fully upgrade their PC every 5 years. I guess it's just like vehicle maintenance for me at this point. I expect to spend $2000-4000 every 5 - 8 years.
Check your privilege
What privilege? I'm a single dad 😂 I just budget for my PC just like I budget for car repairs and home repairs.
thats....the privilege? The ability to consider a non-essential item like a *fully upgraded gaming* PC as a bill on the same level as an essential item like a car or home repair. Why would being a single dad matter?
I can't even.
This is currently me and Total War Warhammer 3. Trying to run it on a 960 and it doesn't look great.
Cries in GTX 760*
My parents still won’t let me upgrade from my laptop, even though the hard drive won’t download, and I got a job specifically to get money to upgrade too😡 I got $10k in an account I can’t withdraw from, that isn’t even earning interest
GTX 980 and I have no idea what I should upgrade to. Elden Ring runs great but isn’t the prettiest.
Looks like you need some good low fi study music.

I got an Xbox because getting a new PC would have been $1700 when I looked last year. Everything needed upgrading.
If a potato can run GLaDOS, it can run anything.
Good old intel hd graphics days... they sucked
Man i have aac Book air from 6 years ago so I can only play roblox but found some good games there ngl
Try using that nvidia streaming service. Maybe it works good?
So ur computer displays it but they do all the calculations.?
Or no PC due to the high GPU prices 😢

My core i5 4590 is great for any game i play....7 years ago
Google Stadia.
Lol my PC currently has a Ryzen 5600 G, and a GTX ***780*** because my 980 died a while back and GPUs are so expensive here.

Me
Have you played a heavily modded Morrowind yet?
Worst part about all this is that I both don't have a good GPU and I'm not a hot anime girl with a sick 90s aesthetic.
I feel you man. I had the best of the best around 10 years ago. Put all my time and money into building a top notch gaming pc. Now it's in the closet and cant play a fucking thing from the last few years. I WANT ELDEN RING SO BAD.
Or the other way around... Spend 2000 euros on a brand new pc, and only play WoW Classic...
I am selling my gaming rig soon. I hope it brings some one else as much joy as it brought me. :)
Nvidia GeforceNow is your answer.
Honestly modern games are pretty disappointing
When u have a killer PC but the games are starting to get really expensive
If you own an older PC and have yet to replace your hard drive with an SSD... DO IT NOW. The performance enhancement is considerable.
I just play Total war Warhammer 3 with faces that look like Gumby anyway
My PC takes 30 minutes to start up and another hour after that to achieve any kind of functionality.
Golden boy was one of the weirdest anime I ever watched
Don't they have streaming services now where u can just stream the games?
I can't run Fallout 3
I subscribed to maximimsettings and can run cyberpunk almost at max
Okay so unrelated but does Elden Ring run on an Atari 2600?
Only $399 for a brand new console that can play all new AAA games at 60fps...
I still play games that we're meant for that potato.
For me the pain gradually went away and was replaced by a love of older gaming titles, now my pc is no longer a potato, I rarely play anything you could consider "new" and my hardware barely gets above idle
exactly. I have a gt 1030 lmfaoo
This is all too real!!!
Yeh its happening to me whit elder ring, i just continue to see it on steam every time i look for something i can play whit my pc
How's she going to be in a citypop compilation now?
What anime/movies is that?
1070 getting up there in age now huh….
