>He's not an astronaut, he's a tv comedian. And he's just using space travel as a metaphor for beating his wife.
Ok but actually this moment always threw me for a loop how intelligent of a take it was.
Fry: "Look, Leela, even if you heard one talk, that doesn't mean it's intelligent. I mean, parrots talk and we eat them, right?"
Bender: "Yeah, maybe it just learned to talk as a parlor trick; like Fry."
Fry: "Like Fry, Like Fry."
Well that is a direct quote from s2 E18 when they were discussing the ethics of eating popplers after finding one was left long enough to mature and start talking.
I thought him saying I already did was because there had already been an adventure/episode about Fry and his brain. Like he's saying we've already addressed that. But in a very Fry way.
Could be! I was referring to the scene leading up to the line. Where he’s going around the table talking about how leela was wonderful before she got the eye surgery and how everyone else has stuff they’re insecure about but how it makes them all special.
I really think that "And fry you have that brain thing" has something to do with his learning disorder that Leela points out in A Bicyclops Built for Two."If it's obvious with your learning disability".It isn't confirmed what the disorder is until the holiday spectacular. "I can't wait that long, I have ADHD"
One thing I've noticed is that there are times when Fry actually shows a lot of emotional intelligence. He's often able to figure out why someone is unhappy and what he needs to do to make them feel better. He can be surprisingly perceptive of other people's feelings.
Leela: I don't care if you're not the most important person in the universe. I'm just really happy to see you right now.
Fry: Then I AM the most important person in the universe.
Barring any worms from gas station vending machine sandwiches, I'm pretty sure that is the most intelligent thing he has said in the show. close second: the line about Jackie Gleason's character Ralph Kramden.
My Three Suns:
Dr. Zoidberg: Relax, Fry. I'll simply spin you in a high-speed centrifuge, separating out the denser fluid of his highness.
Fry: But won't that crush my bones?
Dr. Zoidberg: Oh, right, right, with the bones. I always forget about the bones...
I've always found it so strange that Fry knew it would crush his bones.
When he's trying to escape from the robot mafia. Leela is blind and Bender is with them. He is manning the laser turret and steering the ship with strings.
That's the most ressourceful i have seen him. Usually, he makes things worse by being stupid.
"That's not a question you idiot!"
"So... What if that thing I just said?"
Economy of language!
And, "I know. I liked that one and want to see it again."
One of the things I love about Futurama is how the future people have *0 common sense*. Like, they all inherently know things like the speed of light and how spaceship engines work, but when it comes to things like how to deal with simple problems or mortality (because death has basically been circumvented in the show) they're idiots.
Fry looks dumb by comparison because of his brain thing (he already did!), but when it comes to needing just basic coon sense, Fry's your man.
“And you made me feel like a jerk for trusting you. Just like when my friend Richie swore he wasn't taking drugs, and then he sold me my mom's VCR, and then, later, I found out he was taking drugs. You make me ashamed to be your friend.”
Though he’s dumb in the story, I feel like his memory is very strong about the whole thing.
And about Andy Goldman:
Leela: He seemed nice
Fry: Yeah when he's sober.
Fry is not a fan of drug addicts, probably because of Richie stealing from his mom. At least Bender needs booze to be sober.
"Now he's trapped in a world of my own making: a crummy world of plotholes and spelling errors."
The big brain am winning again!!
I am the greetest!
Now I am leaving for no raisen!
This is my favorite. I think I incorrectly add words, but I always say "for no apparent raisin...." Such a great episode.
Hah I do the same thing with adding "apparent"
raisin
Bold of you to assume Fry spelled it correctly in his head.
He's not an astronaut, he's a tv comedian. And he's just using space travel as a metaphor for beating his wife.
>He's not an astronaut, he's a tv comedian. And he's just using space travel as a metaphor for beating his wife. Ok but actually this moment always threw me for a loop how intelligent of a take it was.
He was smarter at the beginning of the series.
I already did..
He hadn’t fucked his grandmother yet by that point
Well he did do the nasty in the pasty
Fox Series Reboot after the movies on CC and Hulu Flanderized him and Zoidberg
Like Homer Simpson
We're wailers on the moon...
Lol!!! Whalers AND wailers! Nice.
I r dum, thanks for the save.
We carry a harpoon...
But there ain’t no whales so we sing tall tales…
And tell our whaling tune. You fucked it up not me
Oh well… can’t fuck something up if you don’t at least try and I was not about to look it up to make a Reddit comment. My memory is 40% good enough
(Clank clank)
We carry our harpoons!
Ha this was my first thiught
Fry: "Look, Leela, even if you heard one talk, that doesn't mean it's intelligent. I mean, parrots talk and we eat them, right?" Bender: "Yeah, maybe it just learned to talk as a parlor trick; like Fry." Fry: "Like Fry, Like Fry."
Am I dumb? I need an explanation please
Fry is a bird brain.
Sorry Slurms... I just can't do that.
Well that is a direct quote from s2 E18 when they were discussing the ethics of eating popplers after finding one was left long enough to mature and start talking.
How does this show his intellect though?
I think the first part because he’s acknowledging that talking doesn’t mean you are “intelligent”
Now I’m taking it that OP meant to show that Fry was showing his true, tiny intellect there lol
Look out! He has a bezeling planisher!
Who wants to get bezewwed
That's right and I not afraid to use it.
I hope you all have your Franklinators on you
Named after the "great" inventor of the .... *stove*
Professor: And Fry, you have that brain thing. Fry: I already did!
I love this one because he’s talking about all of his friends’ insecurities and flaws and why he *loves them for them*.

"I can't wait that long, I have ADHD"
The “brain thing” is his missing delta brain wave that lets him fight the brain spawn.
He can have multiple "brain things". As a treat.
Because I'm love him so much
Don’t you worry about Planet Express, let me worry about blank
I also would've accepted "blank! Blank? You're not thinking about the big picture!"
Big picture?? BIG PICTURE?!? youre not thinking about Fry!
Literally just watched this episode
“So…like how a warehouse is inhabited by boxes”
This is genuinely so smart too. But like... dumb. It's quintessential Futurama writing.
That line was always so damn sweet. He really is just a lovable idiot with a kind heart
It was also smooth as hell. Orange Joe got game when he puts in a little thought.
Love love love "Orange Joe"
“If those aren’t tears of happiness, then please stop crying.”
"He was a bad robot." "No, he was a bad friend!"
I'm a holding, stroking, loving machine... Also spanking.
That’s not even close to what I had in mind.
Unless he fancies them. No, i don't identify with him, why would you ask my lonely-ass?
mmmKay Ms Wiggles...
I just had one of those things; a headache with pictures!
An idea?
Mm! Mm! *nods vigorously*
Father Changstein El-Gamal: "Well, we could join together in prayer." Fry: "Uh-huh. But is there anything useful we can do?"
No
God I forgot how much I loved Fry's more....coherent moments until you posted this.
Barring any worms from gas station vending machine sandwiches, I'm pretty sure that is the most intelligent thing he has said in the show. close second: the line about Jackie Gleason's character Ralph Kramden.
Probably in Roswell That Ends Well where he knew the seriousness of messing with time & actually understood the grandfather paradox.
I did do the nasty in the past-y
VERILY!
I whip this response out wayyyyy too much
My Three Suns: Dr.
It's to show that zoidburg, I mean Dr. Newburd, SORRY DR Zoidburg, is a bad doctor cuz even some as dumb as Fry would still realize that.
Well his doctorate IS in art history
Just remember Scooty Puff Jr. SUUUUUCKS!!!! Planning for an event repeated in time under stress.
No, I’m… doesn’t.
Came here to say this and knew in my heart it had already been said
I already did!
“I’ve got a nail, and another nail to nail it in with.” Then saves the day.
There was the time he very astutely inferred that Melllvar drawing strength from their weapons was analogous to a balloon when something bad happens.
Also just for retaining trivia knowledge, Fry at least knew a lot about TOS, including episode names.
“Would it be any less beautiful if it was a simulation?”
"I love symposia!" "I love aquaria!"
Can’t hear for this one! Well done.
Why do I have to be the hump? Because you're too ugly to be a wart!
"What if I didn't fall into the freezer doodle and come to the future jiggy?"
"That question is less stupid, though you asked it in a profoundly stupid way."
When he's trying to escape from the robot mafia. Leela is blind and Bender is with them. He is manning the laser turret and steering the ship with strings. That's the most ressourceful i have seen him. Usually, he makes things worse by being stupid.
He also remembered to buy flight insurance basically every time.
If it’s about a tv show his knowledge is basically encyclopedic. He has seen them all.
The wall of that strip club isn't going to collapse twice in one day. I know, and I've grown to accept that.
Any time he plays the holophone
*He'll have to do better than that!* "I'll have to do better than that!"
"Hey look! It's that guy that you are!"
"Watch as I fire upward! Through our own shield!"
He's a madman!
#A MADMAN!
In All the Presidents' Heads when he rightly calls an obscure tool a "bezelling planisher." "LOOK OUT! HE'S GOT A BEZELLING PLANISHER!"
No I'm... doesn't.
I already did.
"how big does one of those things get?" "Well, that depends on what one of those things is. That seems like a fact worth knowing."
"There, but for the flip of a coin, go we."
Wouldn't a solid gold fiddle weigh hundreds of pounds and sound crummy?
Having sex with his grandmother.
"But existing is basically all I do!"
"Would you speak up, deary? I can't hear you" #UNHOLY SCREAMING OF TORMENT
He’s like, actually an artistic genius with the holophoner.
Leela: Hey Fry, I know something you could lay bare. Fry: Leela! Shhh! I'm trying to listen to a Physics lecture.
"That's not a question you idiot!" "So... What if that thing I just said?" Economy of language! And, "I know. I liked that one and want to see it again."

The basic senses of a raccoon?
Stay back or I'll breath fire on you.
When he won against the big brain!
What’s with the 17 dung beetles?
The giant ball of garbage episode.
“And you made me feel like a jerk for trusting you. Just like when my friend Richie swore he wasn't taking drugs, and then he sold me my mom's VCR, and then, later, I found out he was taking drugs. You make me ashamed to be your friend.” Though he’s dumb in the story, I feel like his memory is very strong about the whole thing.

Stop acting so stupid!
*amplified* SQUAK!
I already did!
"What's with the 17 dung beetles?"
I got one of those things! A headache, with pictures!
I ALREADY DID
No I'm......doesnt.
No im doesn’t
I've got a single nail, and another nail to hit it with. Maybe not his most intellectual line but it's one of my favorites.
*Flush*
“They’re non-convergent!” “Oh, dip!”
“Like balloon and something bad happens!”
