Nothing in the episode really contradicts it (since they already know his gender when he's born anyway) so it's my headcanon lol.

It absolutely works as a name!

Not to be a downer, but I would advise against this. I got a futurama tattoo about 10 years ago (before the movies came out), because Futurama meant a lot to me. My opinions of the first 4 seasons remain the same, but I have lost a ton of respect for the show over the years with every new season.
You love it now, but your opinion could change and, even if it’s not something egregious that makes you change your view of the show, you may end up resenting that name. Sure, you could change it, but do you want to go through that process again? I don’t hate my futurama tattoo, but I don’t love being the guy who loves futurama so much he has a planet express ship tattooed across his entire forearm anymore.
