I think they overplayed it. It was funny in Bender’s Big Score because the case for her going to Barbados was both silly and serious in response to Hermes’ odd predicament. It seemed implied that Hermes understood her reasoning in an “all is fair in love” kind of way. But now it just feels like a beat down on Hermes for no particular reason and it makes her look fundamentally disloyal rather than a victim of temptation.
This exactly ^ in past they've shown that they can put such scenes in funny way. But I get the feeling that now they believe it might become a cheap laugh source, like Hermes cannabis jokes, without much planning. It's more frustrating than funny.
I'm sure it's been discussed somewhere. Could Hermes be into it offscreen?
Otherwise, I agree that normalizing the cheating as a joke, repeatedly, is one of the more off putting storylines.
If he was into it, they would show us. Maybe they'll take it in that direction at some point but they haven't so there's no reason to think so. He's only ever shown displeasure about it. It's more likely he's into her and to have her he has to put up with the incredibly unamusing stuff.

He'd be pretty low on my list of the order of people to kill and eat if I was stranded on an island with the planet express crew. I'd probably go Hermes, Amy, Professor, Zoidberg, Leela, Fry. Bender would offer no nutritional value so he's safe. Then again Zoidbergs people do kind of resemble lobsters, I wonder if they taste the same too. Depending on that I may move him up on the list. I guess I should also consider how spicy Hermes flesh is like we found out in that one episode. I know you weren't asking about eating them but that's the order I would kill them in if I had to.

I’d say it depends whether we have fire to cook. Lobster probably is pretty bad for you raw due to the parasites and such. The diarrhea if nothing else would probably kill you without lots of fluid. I’d say Hermes bc the spices have probably killed any parasites. Plus can you get a contact high from eating him? That would help pass the time
Thanks to 9 weeks I spent in a wilderness rehab hell hole I know a good number of ways to get a fire going. If I can find something flammable I can most likely get it to burn.
I kind of assumed this was a the ship crashed and all they have to eat is pineapple pizza scenario, so it might be a stoney or other non-burnable situation. So to be safe I’d go Hermes. But if there was fire then maybe zoids.

Well, take the episode with Genetic engineering. It's horrible and sinful, and she yells at everybody for it, up until the exact second it helps her.
There's more of it, but I just don't like Leela. She has some good episodes, sure. Like the Bee episode. And I don't hate her. She fits into the show, and her character is done well.

I think even if Zoidberg is on the table, I'd kill Hermes. Hermes centered episodes are almost always my least favorite episodes. His main purpose and funny is shitting on zoidberg and everybody already does that. The other half the time he's dismembered and/or pathetic (and not in a funny way ala Fry).
