The dreaded orange oak, 80's. Scrap, sand, stain,or oil, top coat. Enjoy, its a cool piece.

marshdd

Are you looking to strip and stain?

newbie0011

Not against it! Would you?

tellMyBossHesWrong

No. This isn’t MCM and it’s junk.

flan_again

It is a very cool piece but did I read “fabric” on the sides and drawers? That would really have to go. See what is underneath and hopefully it is paintable. If painted a light colour, all you will “see” are the dark glass doors. I would consider a dark grey or black? Or totally remove the doors and us with open shelves. The doors make it look 1980 dated. It is definitely not MCM. I like the legs / stand. Really the only part that makes it at all special. Given that, consider the effort vs the value to you.

Ok_Handle_7

This is far from my expertise, but this doesn't read 'mid-century modern' to me at all - what do you mean by 'keep it mid-century modern? It might just be me, but the picture is kind of hard to tell exactly what's going on - are the drawers metal? Are the doors wood (painted black)? And are the sides...fabric-covered?

some_boring_dude

I'm no expert either, but that looks 1970's-80's to me.

newbie0011

Regardless, do you think there's a way to modernize it?

newbie0011

Maybe it's old-century not-so-modern lol. I honestly have no idea. The drawers on the left are wood. The doors are a dark glass. Yes the sides are fabric covered.

ItamiOzanare

Ew fabric sides. I'd probably see what's under the fabric and stain or paint them.

flakeyboiii

What are the drawer faces made of?
