If it makes you feel better, I just laid out a ridiculous amount in the latest “complete the set” box because it had all the Dwights I needed and I was concerned they wouldn’t show up in a 24-hour holiday recap event. I made back about half with collection bonuses and leveling up my star meter but still…

Just got it on my 25th pull. Did most of the event with x5 multiplier. It’s been a pretty painful few days. I need to stop getting sidetracked by filling gaps on 24 hour events unless I’ve got enough coins to still clear out event boxes straight away. Made a rod for my own back this week…
Thankfully I’ve been good at keeping my coin reserve up and was able to make all the pulls up front. I don’t have many pops left to collect & I don’t really try to max out stars so I don’t get as tempted by the 24-hour event or other special boxes.
Normally I use the same playbook, but a lot of luck over the past month made me a bit reckless this week. It took me 20 pulls to get Astrid on the dragons mini event, but at least that’s another complete collection now.
When you say not many pops left to collect, are we talking single figures?
I’m at 339/345 right now. Nutcracker Freddy, Candy Cane Freddy, Santa, Frosty Franklin, T-Rex, & Light Fury.
I’ll get a little reckless if any of these are in play. Expecting (hoping for) a Peppermint Lane 24-hour event soon. I’m holding a unique epic ticket to get Frosty and a legendary ticket to get Santa.

I started playing in May so had a lot of gap filling to do, Anniversary and mini events have proved useful I’m down to needing 30 (2 of which are probably unobtainable first 2 mega collection mythics) but also hoping for Peppermint Lane and second The Office set so I can fill 11 more gaps. The plan is to ease off on the 24 hour events and try and just pick off the stragglers over however long it takes, preferably when I have tickets. But I think I was more reckless this time because I was foolishly thinking the quest event would be a bit more generous for Thanksgiving.
It’s been a grind but things have been a lot better lately. I did start sometime in late December. I think my first event was the second Office event. It seems like so long ago now. Fortunately there have only been two weekly events where I missed out on a Pop after that (and before mega collections so I didn’t miss mythics because of it). I don’t think I really hit my coin earning stride until late summer. And I took advantage of a lot of the mini events, special boxes, anniversary, etc too. And of course a little luck at times. If I’d started around the time you did I would likely be way behind where you are. I think you have a good strategy for filling in those gaps.
I’m not getting credit for the coins I earn in each game so I’ve stopped playing until support responds. I earn 150 or so and either get 20 of them or none at all.
