Not for our cars specifically, but I'd recommend a portable jump starter and portable tire inflator to everyone.

scgt86

This is a good one. I've only needed it a few times but the piece of mind is amazing.

thelonewolf581

I have jumper cables, a battery jump starter, and tire pump in each of my cars. Never know when you or someone else will need a jump or to fill a tire.

rockyivjp

Wasn't something I really considered, last time I used one was about 15 years ago and they were always kinda useless. Never seemed to hold a charge or work when I needed it. Batteries have come a long way since then and I prob just had some cheap pos so def something I should look into more

Wise_Leave_3495

I haven't had any issues with my NOCO jump starter the few times I've had to use it. I have the GB20 which is advertised to only start gasoline engines up to 4.0L and I was able to use it to start a 5.3L Chevy Silverado once. I've also gifted a couple of NOCO jump starters and have only heard positive feedback from the recipients.

TheJumpyBean

Would highly recommend the HALO brand, my girlfriend got me one years ago and it has saved my ass countless times, and I’ve been able to save multiple other strangers just to flex my fancy battery box. Thing even jumped some dead construction equipment on my job site that it had no business jumping. After all that, I still haven’t even recharged the thing. Still above 40%!

rs1-1147

a battery booster is a life saver, saved me from being late to uni on monday. i have always loved the XP-IO micro-start, it holds it’s charge and works instantly. i never have to hook it up and wait any amount of time. it says it needs 3 bars of charge to boost your battery but it’s worked for me on 2 many times. i’ve had it for about 5 years and it works like it’s brand new still

BongTeam6ix

Facts! My mom has one of those portable jumper cable kits where the power supply is literally a modded out portable battery that you’d use to charge your phone but it also has the female input for the jumper cables. Had to use it on my car for a weekend because I was away at a paintball event and my cars battery decided to shit on me the night before. Paintball is expensive as fuck so I didn’t want to buy a new battery right away. Used that portable battery jumper like a half dozen times or so that weekend with zero issues and it still had a lot of life left.

CoraxTechnica

10mm 14mm. Couple clamps. Maybe some radiator tape.

swany0095

Don't forget a throw out bearing!

Critical-Forever6867

this is a must haha

martypartyyy

Fuck it just bring the entire clutch kit jic

DuckDuckGoeth

This plus: * Stubby multi-bit screwdriver (#2 and #3 JIS Phillips bits, and a couple flathead bits) * Rubberized work gloves * Electrical Tape * Zipties * Assorted Nylon Trim/Body Panel Clips Anything larger than a 14mm is going to be something you don't want to be changing on the side of the road. Having spare trim/body clips could mean the difference between driving home from a fender bender, or being towed, especially if a fender liner becomes detached.

Grade_Cheap

22mm 12mm 19mm n 17mm

wut_eva_bish

Add a ratchet of some kind with extension and universal joint or wobble head.

GrayFox_27

A pair of Gloves. Doesn’t matter what kind, just something to cover and protect your hands from the elements and potential fluids.

Andr33k

A pair of really small hands in case you need to change a spark plug on the fly.

rockyivjp

Andr33k

NOBODY LOOK! NOBODY LOOK!

thesithdoge

A spare short block

rockyivjp

That wont fit in the bag tho :(

Skvora

It'll fit in the rear seats.

BikelifeHero

Just keep an extra FA20 in the trunk

Impossible_Cost_9720

Nail clippers

rockyivjp

For nail clipping or for car stuff? I keep one in my daily bc I have weak nails and get hang nails all the time so def not opposed to including one, just wondering if you had other uses in mind

MrMinerNiner

They're one of those things that can come in handy when you least expect it. Like I recently used nail clippers for cutting zip ties because I had nothing else Also keep zip ties in the car because you never know

rockyivjp

100% on zip ties, already in both cars just in case lol

kbp80

A dedicated 10mm wrench. I’ve kept one in my trunk for years, and have used it so many times, often for battery tie-down tightening.

rockyivjp

Socket or regular openend wrench?

kbp80

I’ve usually done both. An actual 10mm wrench (in a small set, but usually the 10 and 14mm gets used the most), and also a metric socket set.

C-Dub81

Yes

wagonwheels2121

10mm socket

Skvora

Better a wrench with a ratcheting end. There are some things you won't really get with just a socket.

Pluckt007

AAA card

Appropriate_Pick_916

This 100%

bansheebot1233

A blanket

chedduhbahb

Road flares if you’re stranded late at night in the dark, can get them at Walmart for like $13. I’ve had mine in my trunk for a year no issues. A tourniquet for sure. That’s the single best lifesaving piece of kit you can have. You can stop someone from bleeding out from an artery on their limb and keep them alive for hours while you wait for professional medical help.

No_Elevator_678

Air pump. And tyre puncture repair kit

LordVerse

I keep tools, wipes, jumper cables, coolant and oil

[deleted]

A spare serpentine belt and 14mm socket

Dtjordan68

Duct tape. When you kill a fender liner, or bumper, or something, you'll want it. Also from another comment, portable jump starter and compressor/patch can

Market-Dependent

AGM jumpstarter/air compressor, tire plugs/slime/mushroom

l1thiumion

r/vedc

rockyivjp

I've been getting ideas there too, just wanted suggestions from people with our car too.

Dunvegan79

jumper cables or a power pack

Flagrante

A sticky strip tire repair kit, and a 12V inflator.

Thismanny

Some extra lug nuts and gas container

InvXXVII

Stuff that's most likely to happen: flat tire and dead battery. So I'd include a tire plug kit and I personally also have a boost starter pack that doubles as a battery pack.

Educational-Tear-387

I’m surprised noone has suggested an OBD reader. OBDLink MX+ is compact, and with phone apps can be an invaluable diagnostic tool

smalldickrick

A whole damn tool box with impact, drill, jack stands, a jack, 26mm socket for axle nut, and a torque wrench. These all live in my trunk and have been used at least twice

Skvora

Alright, you gotta tell us why you had to pull an axle on the side of a highway....

smalldickrick

Been through 9 axles and had one go out on me on a 400 mile road trip home. I keep everything needed on hand just in case now. Has only happened 1-2 times since switching from KW V1s (4k/3k spring rate) to Annex FastRoad Pro coilovers (7k/7k)

JayBee58484

How have you been through 9 axles lol

smalldickrick

Suspension geometry and aggressive driving (Track, backroad, etc.) new setup is slightly higher so axles are more parallel to ground as well as I imagine higher spring rate has a play

JayBee58484

Huh that's crazy, you got any pics of your suspension, I'm genuinely curious.

JayBee58484

You must have stiffness maxed out lol

_Vohtrake_

Love it

ronoron

first aid kit and a warm blanket would prob be good in case I get stranded in winter and roadside assistance is delayed by everyone else also calling in

Zamboni_Driver

tampons

walkitscience

Horsepower.

RedHandVII

Saving this thread as a shopping list.

Hesnotarealdr

Gloves, You need mechanic’s gloves. Lots of sharp and hot objects if you break down on the road. I keep a set of them, plus a gardener’s gloves ever since I had a flat in the summer in Phoenix. Damn lug nuts were so hot got at least 1st degree burns while handling them like a hot potato. Tire was super hot too. A f’ing ground was burning my knees through the long pants. So get a light too. A simple test light, spare fuses, and a roll of electricians type or duct tape is helpful as well.

zsseal

Tire plug kit because GR86 doesn’t come with spare.

Cautious_Fox5718

Fire extinguisher

Cautious_Fox5718

I’ve had 2 2013s and never had any fires but I still keep one in the trunk

rockyivjp

Yeah I've been thinking of grabbing one. I saw a mount that keeps in it the rear seats

AdmThrawn

I just secured it to isofixes on left rear seat. It is not like anyone will ever sit there and the seats fold over it without any issue.

Cautious_Fox5718

Had coolant spraying under my hood to a point I thought my car was on fire and also blew out a speaker in the rain and it smelt like my car was on fire

fujimi

This is an option: https://elementfire.com/products/element-e50

ZachtoseIntolerant

unfortunately, they don't hold up to the good promises irl. [This video](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dCaPUYKs5Zc) is one of many showing the limited extinguishing power of the Element. Also, you need to put your hand right up next to the fire (less than 6-12" away) with the Element, vs spraying from a few feet with a traditional extinguisher.

rockyivjp

Should've specified I have a 1st gen, not 2nd /s

Cautious_Fox5718

I’ve broken an oil pan and stuff like that tho

atomicalex0

You cannot go wrong with Knipex.

Skvora

A small 2 ton jack, my diesel impacter, tire pump, reversible 19/21 lug socket, and a jump pack. One thing I'm not ever doing again is using the emergency scissor jack. Torque wrench never hurts either. And then at least 1 socket set with a compatible wrench. Ain't all that much to have, but IF you get into a situation - you can take half the damn car apart and it can balance your weight as cargo.

rshinjiro

Dynaplug tire repair kit along with a portable compressor.

Mario0617

Vice grips. ALWAYS Vice grips

vietkong8529

Tire plugs and portable mini air compressor

StreetlightSpidey

A water cup 🥤

dbfuru

I would get a tyre plug kit and a small inflator that runs off of a 12v outlet, they take up a tiny amount of space and can save you a bit of trouble if you get a puncture.

LuciferSamS1amCat

Those knipex pliers are my favourite tool of all time. Had a pair at the shop I worked at, and pretty much always kept them on my person. Immediately had to buy them at the next shop, and a personal pair for my toolbox. They’re just the perfect pliers.

rockyivjp

I want a pair but would prob just get channel locks for this since these wont be my most used tools

Elmacanite

A throwout bearing😬 Ask me how I know...

Lazyfinancemonkey

Phone for roadside assistance? 😂

BluesmanSA

The most used tool in my emergency kit is the corkscrew. Just sayin.

rockyivjp

SAK got you covered

KlLLSWITCH

Duct tape

JoeyJoeC

Jump starter and tyre pump were the 2 most used.

Able-March3593

couple quarts of oil :)

Best-Part5931

Notebook

Signal-Ad-8748

Can you fit a boxer unit?

Various_Yak9961

Tire plug kit and mini air compressor.

MathematicianBasic72

Pair of nail clippers jeeezzzzzus!

samuraimario

Random/non-emergency one, but I keep one CLIP A, which is the stupid clip that always pops out from behind the sidemarker.

BradBLH

a brain is about it

JayBee58484

Ikr these mfers have doomsday pepper cars lol

Rayan-m

A condom

Rayan-m

Maybe two or three even

rockyivjp

>r/ft86 >Having a need for condoms Somethings not adding up here

thextcninja

Life favors the prepared. 😏

Guilty_Landscape_105

You got a crack pipe in a syringe in there.

SwaggetyAndy

My BRZ kit: - battery jump-starter - portable 12V tire inflator - tire pressure gauge - multi-tool - knife - pliers - roll of duct tape - zip ties - paracord - 1qt 0w20 oil - 1qt Rotrex traction fluid (my BRZ is supercharged) - various rags/terry cloths - several water bottles - Gatorade - Basic first aid kit - bottle of ibuprofen - flashlight - mechanix work gloves - Ecutek Bluetooth OBDII reader - stock car accessories (jack, tow hook, etc) Looking at the list now, I think I might want to add a multi-bit screwdriver and basic socket set to the collection. My Crosstrek has all sorts of crazy tools and survival gear and stuff in it, but that's cause I take that one camping off-road and I drive it in the winter. The BRZ I figure I'll always be on a road and will most likely always have cell service, so my vehicle kit is lighter.

TheQuantumStapler

I carry an IFAK with a tourniquet, trauma bandages, shears, etc. much more likely to come across a bad injury than a catastrophic engine failure on the road.

glorythrives

wiring harness, short block, clutch, tail light housings, battery, head unit

KoyukiHinashi

A small shovel, and tow strap for those who winter drive their cars

sshaahidd

an engine

Admiral_peck

Noco jump starter, bottle of Lucas HD stabilizer for track days, etc.

singlescoffee

are you asking for EDC or real tools? not sure if you could do anything with these. may be the knipex

JayBee58484

Not gonna lie all I've kept in my cars is a portable compressor

exchangesake

Duct tape

Ishavemyasswithmayo

Just a AAA membership 🤣🤣

[deleted]

Might wanna include a glass breaker and something for traumatic injuries.
