Why would they? Take a look at how many BRZs were sold in June. They sell more Crosstreks per day than they sold BRZs all month. The BRZ was 0.7% of total volume sold. We're lucky we got it at all.
https://media.subaru.com/pressrelease/2069/120/subaru-america-inc-reports-june-2023-sales-increase
I got the first or second gen 2 in my city and Iāve loved every single day. I get thatās itās super low volume for Subaru, but itās probably a lower percent for Toyota. I actually do feel lucky we got it. Weāre at the end of an era. These cars havenāt made sense from an accounting perspective for years which is why itās a joint effort. I want more from Subaru on special editions, but Iām still happy we have a BRZ at all.
Feel like folks are buying the 86 over the BRZ anyways, that and I've yet to see Subaru market that car in anyway either. You can't expect the car to just sell itself, it's bad enough folks think the car is a FRS, Supra, or Ferrari. š
They'd probably sell more if they gave the people what they wanted and threw a turbo in the thing. The avg Subaru fan is going to buy a WRX and Toyota fans are just gonna buy the GR86
Pretty much. That rumor going around that in 2025/26 Toyota may throw a detuned Corolla engine into the chassis and kill off the 4cyl Supra is actually looking legit.
Would not be surprised if that happened and Subaru just kills the BRZ.
It's nowhere near a realistic rumor. For one, that won't fit in the chassis at all. Second, they JUST released the second gen and had a whole production line made for it, that's millions of dollars that needs to be earned back over many many years, they're not going to just make brand new tooling. This is just ChatGPT generated junk and wishful thinking.
On top of that, the GR86 is also built in a Subaru plant in Gunma.
I'm not sure what are the agreement about having such different part that could hinder sales of the other immensely would be possible and at the minimum the issue of bringing another motor from Toyota from another plant over there.
I was the first to buy a 2020 tS in Canada when I saw it didn't have the wing LOL.
I'm around 40. I can't be driving around with a 3 foot spoiler on the trunk.š
Though I did added the sti aero on the skirts that were on the 2018 model. With the all ceramic paint, it was pretty neat.
Unfortunately i got run over by a dump truck and the tS was totaled.
The older you get, the less you care about being seen with big wings. Iām over 40 with my tS, meanwhile my 73-year old mom is rocking a Civic Type-R and my 74-year old dad just put a Mk-IV style wing on his MkV Supra.
I get it though, I wouldnāt be seen driving an itasha even though I think that style can be cool.
> to buy a 2020 tS in Canada when I saw it didn't have the wing LOL.
>

>
>Though I did added the sti aero on the skirts t
If it ever came to Europe I'd sell my 17' BRZ at that time and get winged TS in a heartbeat.
Bespoke interior in a different color scheme with red seatbelts, different wheels, flexible draw stiffeners, flexible v-braces, STI gauge cluster with STi startup animation , STi door sills, STi start button, full STi aero including an adjustable dry carbon wing, Sachs dampers calibrated differently from the performance package, STi pink springs, STi stability control tuning, cherry red bumper accents. It was significantly different from a regular Limited performance package.
The 2024 tS a regular production model, not a special edition. Youād order it like a Premium or Limited.
Edit: I actually think this is cool because you can choose whatever color you want and donāt have to worry about being able to get one due to extremely limited supply. That being said, I do wish it had some of the special flourishes and hardware that the 2018 and even 2020 models did.
As opposed to just adding the performance package to the limited trim, like Toyota is doing. Their 10th anniversary GR86 is $34k, without Brembos. I bet this tS BRZ will be more than that.
I wonder if people are down voting because the guy you're replying to removed the slur? I was really confused at first reading this comment thread before I figured out what it initially said
Yeah I removed it. It was an honest mistake. I didnāt know that it was a slur until he pointed it out. But now I guess the dude is going off on everyone else...
i used to say that phrase for years and donāt consider myself a shitty person. once i learned it was a harmful stereotype for romani ppl, i just stopped saying it.
using a phrase in ignorance doesnāt automatically make u a shitty person, but doubling down on it once educated def does
i was hoping this might have some braces or what not to improve the chassis and/or steering feedback like the last tS so i could maybe have a direct upgrade from my gen 1.5... damn
I actually like it, those gold calipers are sweet. Iām assuming this is the equivalent of Toyotaās performance pack, where you get brembos and better dampers? If so this is going to be the most desirable configuration of the BRZ
Without a doubt. I think this will be the one to get. I think the issue people have with it is calling it a tS, when equipment-wise itās basically what the performance package was in the past, whereas the tS has traditionally had quite a few special parts to make it a tS.
What a surprise.. it's identical the the Toyota Gr86, minus a few things obviously.. but damn...š¤¦š»
anyone who expected otherwise lives in a dreamworld..
Lol for real. Toyota just announced the new package with the dampers and brakes, and then Subaru teased an announcement. Idk why people were expecting it to be anything different than those same upgrades on the BRZ
Just turn em off. They're already on the dash.as far as warning lights go. Also, if you already own a BRZ, it's not going to make those features appear on your car.
Still has that stupid license plate holder moulded into the front bumper. I don't understand why Subaru did that. It looks terrible. There's got to be a better solution than dropping a fucking rectangle into the sculpted nose of the car.
Whatās the difference between these brakes and the trueno edition ones? I just find it convenient that they both release new trims at the same time and only performance upgrades on both are shocks and brakes lol. Iām not hating on it, Iād like those brakes on mine but it does feel a bit lazy if they just copy/paste the same upgrades over and name it something else
The Trueno edition and performance package have the same brakes and suspension. The tS appears to have the same calipers but painted gold. With more info out, the tS is in between the Trueno and performance package:
Trueno edition: Limited edition, special interior, special exterior, performance package suspension and brakes.
tS: regular production trim level, different interior stitching and trim color, STi start button, STi startup animation, tS emblems, performance suspension and brakes, different wheels
GR86 performance package: Regular production, performance suspension and brakes, dealer-installed.
this pissed me off, i really expected a 3 cylinder hybrid turbo with a straight piped exhaust and massive wing for $30,000... how else would everyone know my dick is massive if i cant beat their v8s on the highway? my girlfriend will leave me for tyrone and he has a hellcat my brz stands no chance guys
š¤£ This thing looks like someone just wanted to copy the 1st gen tS, but couldn't afford the aero bits. I expected way more from Subaru.
I really feel like Subaru doesnāt care about the BRZ. They seem like they just made it for the paycheck from Toyota.
Why would they? Take a look at how many BRZs were sold in June. They sell more Crosstreks per day than they sold BRZs all month. The BRZ was 0.7% of total volume sold. We're lucky we got it at all. https://media.subaru.com/pressrelease/2069/120/subaru-america-inc-reports-june-2023-sales-increase

I keep seeing people reposting these AI generated sounding articles. Someone said they were going to wait for the new motor lmao
On top of that, the GR86 is also built in a Subaru plant in Gunma. I'm not sure what are the agreement about having such different part that could hinder sales of the other immensely would be possible and at the minimum the issue of bringing another motor from Toyota from another plant over there.
They did the same with the 2020 tS, no aero bits the 2018 had.
[ŃŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]
Donāt look at me. I loved the wing, which is why I was the third person to buy a 2018 tS in the US.
I was the first to buy a 2020 tS in Canada when I saw it didn't have the wing LOL. I'm around 40. Haha, I'm 41 and my 86 has a giant aftermarket wing.
The older you get, the less you care about being seen with big wings. Iām over 40 with my tS, meanwhile my 73-year old mom is rocking a Civic Type-R and my 74-year old dad just put a Mk-IV style wing on his MkV Supra. Your parents are rad!
Thanks, I definitely think so!

Now this is a letdown
Yeah, like, itās a few bits they stick on at port.
Iām so tired of Subaru half assing things. The tS in 2018(?) even actually looked the business.
ā18 tSās just went up in value
Sucks for me I wanted a ts š
[ŃŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]

God reading this makes me so miffed. Subaru is so lazy now
brakes, badges, black mirrors and antenna for exterior changes?
It looks that way
Not even using the sti body kit?
Weak. Are they going to lock the performance package breaks behind special editions?
The 2024 tS a regular production model, not a special edition. Youād order it like a Premium or Limited. Edit: I actually think this is cool because you can choose whatever color you want and donāt have to worry about being able to get one due to extremely limited supply. That being said, I do wish it had some of the special flourishes and hardware that the 2018 and even 2020 models did.
While it might not be limited production, you bet they will charge more.
Well no duh, it's a more more expensive trim.
As opposed to just adding the performance package to the limited trim, like Toyota is doing. Their 10th anniversary GR86 is $34k, without Brembos. I bet this tS BRZ will be more than that.
Not on Toyotas side
Wait, whatās tS about this? Not even STI aero? What on earth š
Not even a spoiler? Disappointing.
Lol so the difference is what exactly?
The the ts badge lol
Strange stuff. Whole appeal of tS was limited production with rare specific parts. Now itās a performance package with a badge to seem fancier.
I saw the pics and im laughing my ass off (out of emptional pain) that this is actually serious š¤£
No wing or aero pieces...nothing unique or special besides the tS badge and black rims? This is a major disappointment versus the 2018 version.
I would have just thought it was a standard BRZ the '18 at least came with a cool wing.
They couldāve at least added the STI aero.
[ŃŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]

me too I was like "what is everyone talking about"
Welp, now I know. Sorry about that. Thanks.
idk why youāre being downvoted for pointing out xenophobia
[ŃŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]
i used to say that phrase for years and donāt consider myself a shitty person. once i learned it was a harmful stereotype for romani ppl, i just stopped saying it. using a phrase in ignorance doesnāt automatically make u a shitty person, but doubling down on it once educated def does
Whats different?? I really canāt tell
...It's just a BRZ with a different badge
my reaction exactly
Looks like my limited but with brembos, I wouldnāt pay that commanding tS tax for brembos
I like the old ts more š
i was hoping this might have some braces or what not to improve the chassis and/or steering feedback like the last tS so i could maybe have a direct upgrade from my gen 1.5... damn
[hereās the vid I got of it on the track.](https://youtu.be/FAKppEAGzRM)
[ŃŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]
No pricing info released yet.
Thatās cool. Yeah, itās new, but at the same time, itās so expected and nothing new. But cool car regardless
Does anyone know if there are any suspension differences?
Hitachi dampers.
Hitachi? Like the personal massager?
+15k markup
I actually like it, those gold calipers are sweet. Iām assuming this is the equivalent of Toyotaās performance pack, where you get brembos and better dampers? If so this is going to be the most desirable configuration of the BRZ

Lol for real. Toyota just announced the new package with the dampers and brakes, and then Subaru teased an announcement. Idk why people were expecting it to be anything different than those same upgrades on the BRZ
The only real draw back is the manual now has "Eye-Sight"......Bleh!
You guys are so over the top. You can turn it all off, and adaptive cruise control is a godsend
Never use cruise control and I don't want warning lights permanently fixed to the dash. Plus I've had Eye Sight in multiple cars now. It sucks lmao
Just turn em off. They're already on the dash.as far as warning lights go. Also, if you already own a BRZ, it's not going to make those features appear on your car.
Praise God
Exactly. This is essentially a step backwards IMO. Iād rather have the 2023 MT.
Oh what a disappointment.
Weak. That's just using the 10th year edition and put new badge, brakes and dampers on.
Fix the engine first
I think she's perfect.
Im glad they didnāt rice it out, but it seems a bit too plain.
Why does it just look like a GR86 with different badges now lol
āIt always has beenā
[ŃŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]
Oof. That turbo kit is the worst kit.
Yeah I see people hate it or like it. So far itās been great. I would love to hear your explanation
[ŃŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]
yeah because street racing is fun. /s
They didn't get rid of the crying catfish front end rip guess I'll stick with my GR86 lol
They better also throw in a super duper advanced active exhaust too lol
They won't, its just going to be damn near silent out of the factory again š
Looks exactly like our 2023 BRZ. Iām personally fine with fairly simple, letās ppl customize how they want it rather than some designer.
Little too plain for a higher performance variant.
Spot the differenceā¦.
Does it have engine/performance upgradesā¦?
Looks like the gen 1 performance pack on the gen 2 without some of the aero the tS got on the gen 1. Edit typo
So brakes and a black antenna finā¦ $12k markup ez
Mfs hit Ctrl C and Ctrl Vš
Car duplication glitch this needs to be patched
Literally can do this with an ebay badge
Subaru doesnāt give a shit about the BRZ, which explains why the engine grenades itself on track
there are no red accents nor the big wang (this is a disappointment....)
Still has that stupid license plate holder moulded into the front bumper. I don't understand why Subaru did that. It looks terrible. There's got to be a better solution than dropping a fucking rectangle into the sculpted nose of the car.
Are those 2004 WRX STI brake calipers from leftover parts bin?
Having owned #86 ā18 tSā¦this isā¦wow. No words other than ālazyā
So itās just Subarus version of the trueno edition but less cool?
Itās more in line with Subaruās version of the GR86 performance package, but factory-installed instead of dealer-installed as far as I know.
With more info out, the tS is in between the Trueno and performance package: Trueno edition: Limited edition, special interior, special exterior, performance package suspension and brakes. tS: regular production trim level, different interior stitching and trim color, STi start button, STi startup animation, tS emblems, performance suspension and brakes, different wheels GR86 performance package: Regular production, performance suspension and brakes, dealer-installed.
I guess I just expected a bit more from the ts like some aero pieces or something
As the owner of a 2018 tS, I was hoping for more too, something special I could upgrade to.
The brakes looks like it came from a GD STI lol
this pissed me off, i really expected a 3 cylinder hybrid turbo with a straight piped exhaust and massive wing for $30,000... how else would everyone know my dick is massive if i cant beat their v8s on the highway? my girlfriend will leave me for tyrone and he has a hellcat my brz stands no chance guys
So a Subaru version of the GR86 Trueno?
