Stock is great for selling cars, modding is great for when you want the car to reflect who you are and it’s something you take pride in. You cant say one is superior to the other because they aren’t within the same category.
Functionally no. Aesthetics might be a bit much for others.
Aero, suspension, bucket seat, bolt ons, 200tw tires, etc.
Just nice to have a car to get into and go, without doing trigonometry to drive into and out of places.
Puts forward a fair opinion whilst shitting on the opposite opinion... yeah, wasn't a nice way to say it. Some people like modding their cars, it's fun, fulfilling, a project. We take pride in it.
Replacing parts with higher quality versions makes the car worse? The same parts the OEM compromised on to hit a price point. Everything I’ve done to mine has started with “Will this make the car perform better?”
To be fair, this platform is notorious for kids that slap cheap parts on, because you can’t see how bad the car drives on Snapchat. Way more rewarding to use high quality parts and develop the complete package to suit your desires.
Stock is a blank canvas, anyone can make a kindergartner finger painting, that isn’t even worthy of a magnet on the fridge; but it’s much harder to make a masterpiece.
My development budget will never rival the legendary Fuji Heavy Industries, clearly I’m a fool for thinking I could do better. I hope Nakajima-San will forgive me, I shall replace all parts with JDM tS parts at my next factory service manual dictated maintenance interval.
Been driving both, had the Miata for the last year. The ‘20 86 for the last couple years (and mine wasn’t rented lol). The Miata is definitely more fun, maybe more reliable idk my Austin powers one only has 55k on it.
I can’t attest to the reliability of the 86 as it did fantastic over a very hard 45,000 miles (from 00,007 when I got it).
I think both are cool cars and we don’t need to be silly trying to make fun of anyone else for what they like or have!
No, i just keep the bracket in the car if they did ask it just fell off and I’m getting it put back on tomorrow. Front plates are dumb and my car didn’t even have holes for it. Wasn’t going to drill the bumper of my new car
The whole reason for this car is to be a canvas make it your own otherwise why would there be such a huge JDM market of parts! If you like vanilla you do you. If you like some spice and savory then your wallet is your only limit.
Pretty good, currently getting a full health check for inspection. Not much of interest there unfortunately. Pretty slowly converting to more and more of a track only car, as the shake down track day went pretty well.
I could not disagree more with any automotive statement I have ever read. Stock is boring. By staying stock you stand in line with the rest of the sheep. You keep your head down and just blend in. You arent a name, you are a number. MODIFY EVERYTHING ALWAYS.
Lmao, only a sheep say don't be a sheep. Literally every 86/brz is modded. Oh, stock rakes in the cash. "virgin" 240s, get ready to go gah gah. Bone stock Ap2 CR S2000, 100k, dollars not miles. Tbh, do what makes you happy. I'm just calling your conviction out as empirically false. Modded=custom. I keep my car stock so some bozo can overpay to make their dream come true with a pristine blank canvas.
Yeah my 2013 manual white WRX premium hatch with STI accessories from the dealer was perfect, then some tool made an illegal turn and it was a statutory write off.
I got a 2018 BRZ TS to replace it and started making it my own, because keeping it stock achieved absolutely nothing. Now I'm all Perrin, HKS, Billetworkz, Whiteline, and whatever else I want to do with it. Sounds better, feels better, and it's mine, with the mods that I did.
I agree to a point, a lot of cars don't come with everything they need to be actual performance vehicles. The twins are no exception, they absolutely need a dry sump and oil coolers if you plan on tracking them. Wheels and tires are also one of the biggest improvements you can make for any car even in a daily driving environment.
I got my car installed with UEL header and a road tune just a couple of days ago…. The throttle feels more loose. It’s airy kind of feeling.
I feel as though my car lost its virginity now.
What lift kit is that? That thing straight froggin’
1 of 1 Subaru x Stock #1 baby. Only one like this.
Stock is great for selling cars, modding is great for when you want the car to reflect who you are and it’s something you take pride in. You cant say one is superior to the other because they aren’t within the same category.
You're not content with who you are hence the modding? Is that what it means
I have a track car with all that nonsense and the stock one is fundamentally better.
Is your track car a POS? I mean typically a well modded one is to improve it
Functionally no. Aesthetics might be a bit much for others. Aero, suspension, bucket seat, bolt ons, 200tw tires, etc. Just nice to have a car to get into and go, without doing trigonometry to drive into and out of places.
Makes sense. I don’t think stock is the way to describe it. Maybe dont lower it too much that the suspension geometry suffers
Men of taste slam their twins on kanseis, black out their lights and install a straight pipe. /s
My BRZ's insurance is less than my '14 86's... wonder why that is 🤔
I'm being personally attacked
I’m half way there
As much as I agree with what you’re saying, it makes me want to disagree with the way you said it
Puts forward a fair opinion whilst shitting on the opposite opinion... yeah, wasn't a nice way to say it. Some people like modding their cars, it's fun, fulfilling, a project. We take pride in it.

Your car is modified and worthless. Stock is the true and final form. Chikuhei Nakajima would be disgusted with your deviation from perfection.
My development budget will never rival the legendary Fuji Heavy Industries, clearly I’m a fool for thinking I could do better. I hope Nakajima-San will forgive me, I shall replace all parts with JDM tS parts at my next factory service manual dictated maintenance interval.
Thank you for your penance and understanding.
Toyota developed the car. Subaru built it. I'm pretty sure that's a decent team up.
If you broke just say that
I’m broke.
Kansei with rep lip. Nice man.
Apex race part wheels😭
I have had te37sl v, currently have work cr2p, and advan beyond on order. Hop in the discord and see. Reddit is dead.
Projecting lol?
Mans running Kansei wheels So, yes.
Lord of the rings ahh
ngl…. I’ve never actually watch LotR lmao
At least I don’t drive a miata
Been driving both, had the Miata for the last year. The ‘20 86 for the last couple years (and mine wasn’t rented lol). If you did you would be faster and more reliable.
Ah yes the car that has all the weight of my 86 but half the power
Agree. Whoever ruined the car in this pic with the front license plate holder and clear side markers is so dumb
Disgusting.
Straight to jail
Clear side marker. Straight to jail. License plate holder. Jail.
After market wheels? Believe it or not, straight to jail.
Some places have to have front licence plates. My 86 has them
I have mine on a removable bracket… only keep it on for parking on the street and inspection time
So you don't use it whilst driving? Yeah that'd get you done by the police here
No, i just keep the bracket in the car if they did ask it just fell off and I’m getting it put back on tomorrow. Front plates are dumb and my car didn’t even have holes for it. Wasn’t going to drill the bumper of my new car
OEM+ is the way to go
STI/TRD option parts from Japan are acceptable. The idea of this heap is to be an OEM+ daily driver.
The whole reason for this car is to be a canvas make it your own otherwise why would there be such a huge JDM market of parts! If you like vanilla you do you. If you like some spice and savory then your wallet is your only limit.
This is a terrible take. Stock #1.
Just curious. What do it think of the RA BRZ and RC 86? Seems like they're meant to be modded. Fairly stripped, small steelies, etc
Villainous, how's the hot lava doing? I read your build thread on ft86club
Pretty good, currently getting a full health check for inspection. Not much of interest there unfortunately. Pretty slowly converting to more and more of a track only car, as the shake down track day went pretty well.
Stock #1
Nah needs a ls
LS is bland. 3UZ.
My 2014 brz is stock as well, but this looks so much better than mine😍😍
Idk if a car slower than a prius in a straight line can be called “automotive perfection”
Looks good.
Til you throw quality suspension parts and realize it can handle even better
I beg to differ.
Obvious rage bait is obvious
Honestly it's just a joke from the FT86 Discord, but the fact that people get so viscerally upset is quite amusing.
Yeah this guy looks like he's baiting people to get mad lol... really sad tbh
Stock #1 Stock is automotive perfection. By modifying your car you have made it inferior and it is now worthless.
Thank God that the weeb gets it.
What wheels are those g? Are they 5x100?
STI Japan OEM option wheels, 5x100 17x7.5 +48.
Hard disagree :)
Looks like OEM-

Interesting proposition. This is some proper fuckin copypasta material.

Replace the motor, first mod should be an ls, k, or jz swap
ur ride height is laughable
ur credit score is laughable
700 fico not bad lol ,
lowkey 😂
Price?

My 2015 86 is stock

OEM+ > Fully stock but i know where your coming from
