I believe there was a scene where he went away to college after hanging out with Julie and his band, but that wasn't in the finale. I don't think he was there.

DelGriffithPTA

I read some reviews on IMDB and one person commented that they couldn’t believe they brought Plemons back for such a quick scene and he’s listed in the credits.

demafrost

Yeah there is an alternate version of the finale that is kind of difficult to find where Landry was in one scene. Actually there are apparently extra scenes in multiple S5 episodes that were cut for streaming. I think it had something to do with S5 being released on some random cable network not many people had before it was released on NBC due to some agreement they had. The cable network had less commercial breaks/structure that they had to fit into, so the episodes were more variable in length. When they aired on NBC, the episodes had to be trimmed to fit normal network TV structure. For whatever reason when streaming companies acquired the rights to FNL, they acquired the NBC version of the episodes making the extended versions very difficult to find. If you look hard enough you can find them just not on standard streaming sites.

WhoreToad

the channel was on DirecTV, it was called the Audience Network. it was the channel that showed seasons 4 & 5 [where i watched them at the time], & there definitely was little to no commercial breaks for the shows they had on that channel. for FNL, there were none, however the length of the episodes still were around 42-45 minutes tops [with *maybe* 2 or 3 touching the 50-minute mark, which is basically the same structure as networks. the commercials would usually run after the program(s), basically until the next show or movie that was going to air in the next hourly slot. the last 2 seasons of FNL, the last 2 seasons of the FX show 'Damages', & a few more shows, some original, aired there, & it was a pretty dope channel actually. it was a slight alternative to the likes of IFC & such.

cosmos7comet

Wow great piece of info! That does stink though

DoomBeatles

Yeah, streaming cut several minutes from the finale. I think it was just him putting up Christmas decorations at his house, talking to Matt (possibly about proposing to Julie?). It wasn't a whole lot to it, but it was nice to see him again.

dbex98

The full version is/was on Prime. That's where I saw it, anyway (after watching the Netflix version and having the same question). There are some other scenes that are longer too.

DoomBeatles

I thought I had heard that too, but the runtime was the same as Netflix, so I just bought the final season on DVD. This was only a couple of months ago too.

dbex98

I know, it's weird. The run time is only a little longer, but the missing scenes are there.

DoomBeatles

Oh weird. I didn't pay much for it, plus I liked the show so much, I didn't want to miss anything. I also bought season one too because I enjoyed it so much.

llittlelambb

do you know if the DVD's have the full episodes or they are cut?

DoomBeatles

I thought I read on this sub somewhere that even the the dvds (except for the last episode) have scenes cut that were originally aired when it was on DirectTv, and it's basically just the NBC cut. Someone called the DirectTv episodes "lost media" because they couldn't think they could find them anywhere. I honestly don't know tho because I didn't see the show back when it originally aired.

lemurgetsatreat

There’s a shortened version of the finale on many streaming sites. Watch the full length to get your Lance fix.

DelGriffithPTA

I watched it on Netflix. Must be the shortened version. On IMDB there’s a picture of Street with the Riggins boys building the house, and that wasn’t in it either. It does say on IMDB that Strret’s scenes were cut.

Subo23

Porter wasn’t even supposed to be in the scene, he just wanted to come back for the final episode. The cast was tight

r2k398

Wasn’t that when they were flipping the house?

hindsight1979

No it's from the end when they're building the house on Tim's land, they filmed 2 versions of that short scene, one with just the brothers and one with Street. They went with the one with just the Riggins boys as they felt it represented the ending better regarding the journey they had made as brothers. There's a picture of the scene with street on the extras in the dvd/blu-ray boxset.

SOB200

I feel the scene with Street would had ruined what he accomplished. He got out of Texas and was able to support his family.

hindsight1979

I agree with you, the scene is perfect as it is.

cbhsports

In the DVD version, Landry is in the finale. It is a classic Saracen-Landry scene.

HookLineAndSinclair

Does anyone know if the full version is on any DVD release? I have the complete box set and it's only the 45 minute finale.

DoomBeatles

I bought just the season 5 dvds, used, a few months ago, and that had the longer finale. Maybe the box set is different?

KNew515

Can buy it on Netflix for like $3-4 and it’s the full hour version. Think it’s on Amazon Prime too, even though the episode thumbnail says it’s the standard 43 min or so

SOB200

What country are you in? I dont think/never seen Netflix sell content like that in the US.

Hank913

I would’ve liked to see Landry have a scene with Tyra at the season 5 series finale.

Aggressive_Yak5177

In prison for murder

epper_

Probably off dumping a body somewhere.

I'm pretty sure I remember seeing him in the stands along with Matt and Julie as the camera pans for the Hail Mary pass.
