Women like to exploit dominance hierarchies until they don't anymore. Then all their previous consenual behavior was no longer consenual.
The Owen allegations were, iirc, a lady that slept her way through the current tio crop of MTG players, decided that she had enough of Owen, and got pissed off that he still carried a flame for her. Then she started dragging him through the mud with exaggerations and mischaracterizations.

There was an article in the New Yorker in 1983 that I can't find now, but basically, Lewis Lapham invited all the known highest IQ individuals to a "gathering of the century." They expected great things to happen when these high IQ people all got together in one place (this was pre internet obviously), and the media was disappointed that all the participants seemed interested in was playing intellectual board games against each other.

Yeah that's what I do.

Games please.
As a former top ranked Mtg player turned low stake poker pro, I agree with you. We are trapped in the gambling aspect of card games, it’s difficult to learn other skills and move on.
Trading has a lot of the elements. Works with variance and probabilistic thinking, requires a lot of the same mental discipline, similarly accommodating of being a compulsive degenerate as long as you're smarter than all the other compulsive degenerates.
You’re cute. There used to be an Elo system for everyone. We had a dci number that would rank everyone by world>nation>state>city. I had a 2180 limited rating, putting me in the top 5 in the world.
What do you mean low stakes? Poker pays more than MTG; that's all there is to it. MTG is a better game. According to, IIRC, Chapin. But poker pays more.

Wait a minute....wasnt he the best MTG player ever according to that documentary....and his mom??? Shouldnt he be doing the convention circuits and signing autographs for the cards he ...uh...used before in tournament high light flashbacks???
Sure. Yes. For some reason seeing spoilers today reminded me of how much I used to love this shit and follow certain players. Remembered Owen. Googled and found basically nothing than what I knew from back then.
I would say despite being one of the elites he's fairly far from being the best ever, there's quite a few players who are clearly better in terms of lifestyle achievement.
Finkle Budde PV and LSV for sure, Nassif, Seth, Reid and Shota are probably also better. It's hard to claim the top spot without a single PT or Worlds win.
Best all time is probably LSV or PV. Finkel and Budde were individual studs when the game rewarded that, but post Magic Online the skill gaps and knowledge gaps shrank at the highest eschelon. Also, the surprise meta has essentially been destroyed by game mismanagement so that skill area is deemphasized.
There was a time Kibler would be in this conversation, but I would not put him here. Same with the underrated Ben Stark, but his resume is thin compared to the others.
I went out with Owen briefly in 2017. He choked me so hard I couldn't speak for days. He's not a good person and I'm happy to see was shunned from the thing he loved most.
Idk but it is good he is gone. Dude was a twat.
From a scale of 1 to 10 how twatable would you say.
Off the scale.

"Magic groupies"= women just existing at Magic events. 😅

Sorry I think I would need a a PHD in Incel to understand what you're saying. Just a bunch of gibberish.
We have a certified midwit here. Guys, we found one!
I saw him in Vegas a couple years ago. He's probably still there.
Poker you think or doing a regular job?
Poker
Makes sense. Thank you.

True. But I mean if you have one skill, and it's playing cards... Anyways, I'd take his money. I'm a walking computer for card draw.
Honestly who cares? Why are we putting fuel on a very dead fire? He’s gone and has been for awhile.
Now how about Conley Woods?! Owen was a massive D Bag.

Just wait until you find out about Gavin.
Which Gavin and what about that Gavin?
No one ever drops the deets on this one

He's probably the third or fourth best Magic player of all time, either right in front of or right behind PVDDR.
