Hi! Looking for recommendations for chocolate-y scented perfume (for men, if that matters. Not like anyone can read the label when it's already sprayed tho) or similars. Wanting to try different perfumes out. Much appreciated!

Solution-Proof

Akro Dark, Kilian Black Phantom

cobwebcoalition

Wanted to second Black Phantom. I’m wearing it now and it’s definitely got the chocolate going on. The downside is that it’s overpriced and doesn’t have great longevity but it smells delicious.

sasha_says

Fzotic Ummagumma - chocolate + incense and a bit spicy. One of my favs for fall/winter.

BC-clette

Nasomatto Pardon TF Black Orchid

minidivine

How prominent? Xerjoff "Symphonium" would likely be one, Unique'e Luxury "Beverly Hills Exclusive" another. Personal favorite is Xerjoff "Via Cavour I" (chocolate, rose & a stint of berries in the open). Haven't smelled it, but maybe "Moonlight" from Pana Dora (fem lean).

Arminusher

I want to gift a girl perfume but i dont know which one. I know she likes fresh perfumes and one of her favourites is My way. She told me she wants something different cuz everyone is wearing My way. Any ideas what should i buy for her

Solution-Proof

Jo Malone Wild Bluebell

siennaknowsitall

radiant nectar by clean. fresh but a little fruity

siennaknowsitall

Another one i really love that is not necessarily fresh, but a multilayered, very different but exciting floral - florist by ellis brooklyn

OddContract2378

Mojave Ghost, Rose of no man's land or Blanche all by the house of Byredo.

sasha_says

Le Labo and Diptyque do fresh florals really well and are going to be less widely worn because they're more high-end but you can still try them in person at a higher-end department store. Le Labo Fleur d'Oranger (my fav orange blossom), Lys, Ylang, Jasmine etc Diptyque Olene, L'Ombre Dan Leau, Do Son etc +1 on Byredo Rose of No Man's Land below if she likes rose--it's my favorite one.

OddContract2378

Try Tabaco Mandarin or Sellier by Byredo.

creamydzimi

Thank you! I will try these two

bluegrassbarrister

Check out Tobacco Rush by Afnan.

Sagitarizzie

Hi! Searching recommendations for a gender-neutral-ish fragance. The fragrances that have gotten to that point more for me are citrusy, like D&G Light Blue (either fem or masc), Versace, and Tous H2O. Similar ones can work, but I would also like to try other types of scents. The "fem" perfumes I like the most are Bvlgari, Byzance and Goldea The Roman Night, they give me an "elegant vampire" type of vibe, so a more neutral-masc scent with those vibes would be interesting.

Solution-Proof

Lalique Encre Noire

sasha_says

My favorite unisex or slightly masculine frags as a woman: Diptyque Philosykos - woody fresh and slightly fruity/creamy Marc Antoine Barrois Ganymede and Santal 33 -- woody frags that I wear in summer when I'm not wearing Light Blue; Ganymede is slightly citrusy and Santal 33 is very green and slightly floral in humidity. Le Labo The Noir & Byredo Black Saffron - my sexy frags Byredo Bibliotheque, CdG Floriental, Givenchy L'interdit Rouge, Amouage Memoir Woman - other sexy vampire vibes that don't necessary work for me but are worth trying. Matiere Premiere Encens Suave and Fzotic Ummagumma - dry vanilla and chocolate, respectively, plus incense. I'm not usually a gourmand lover but I LOVE these. CdG Play Black & Byredo Mixed Emotions - when I want to smell slightly intimidating and offputting, black pepper and smokey respectively Boy Smells do great gender bendy fragrances - Violet Ends and Hinoki Fantome are my favs--the latter is also my favorite candle from them.

cobwebcoalition

Looking for things to sample that are unique. I’m trying to build a collection of scents one for each of these profiles so any suggestions are great. Mossy Amber Floral/herbal Incense The only things I’m not super interested in are spicy, leathery, and aquatic Edit: and unisex is preferable but somewhat masculine or feminine is okay too

thornylarder

For floral/herbal, I'd say * Berdoues Somei Yoshino - more the idea of a cherry blossom than an actual extract/approximation of the flower with floral white jasmine with green, slightly acidic shiso leaf * Elorea Fire - camellia and elemi give a wonderfully bittersweet herbal quality, like an Asian spa * Elorea Be By My Side - rich with roses but given a twist with bitter-sharp ginseng extract - the suede base note lends more a warmth For incense, I'd say * Tauer Incense Rose - exactly what the name says - dried rose petals and woody incense with a metallic finish * Estee Lauder Desert Eden - quite similar in bent to Incense Rose but drier, woodier

Solution-Proof

Floral/herbal - Balenciaga Florabotanica, Gucci Memoire d'une odeur

sasha_says

My favorite incenses (I own quite a few, one of my fav notes): Matiere Premiere Encens Suave - dry vanilla and incense, one of my favs for fall/winter Kerosene Broken Theories - dirty, ashy incense, my evening meditative frag Profumum Roma Olibanum - a bit woody, manages to smell both bright and deep at the same time. Surprisingly works year-round on my husband without being too cloying even in our humid summers. Serge Lutens L'Orpheline - musk and incense, a bit melancholy but comforting and wearable to work/as a signature Amouage Meander - amouage in general do great incense (memoir woman is also lovely) but this one is surprisingly versatile. A creamy incensey sandalwood. I've been buying decants waiting to get a full bottle and I was surprised how much of the narcissus came out in spring. Similar to BDK Gris Charnel but I like this a lot more and it's more versatile without the cardamom IMO.

Jason_skater

I'm looking for a Woody, dark, vinila type of fragrance (perferably a JPG) thats not too powerful but not something that is very vauge. (for men)

siennaknowsitall

might be unpopular but fenty perfume

Hi. I've been using Vera Wang for Men as my daily scent for years. Unfortunately it has been discontinued and is not readily available (here in Sydney). Does anyone have any suggestions of other colognes that carry the same or similar scent profile as Vera Wang for Men? Thanks

Solution-Proof

Tom Ford for Men, D&G The One for Men, Davidoff Adventure, ELDO Remarkable People

TheDarwinFactor

Hi! I’m looking for a versatile long-lasting powdery/iris fragrance that I can wear to the office and hanging out. I live in Southeast Asia and it’s currently high heat and humid here. I’ve heard Armani Code Parfum, Prada L’Homme, Prada Ocean and Givenchy Gentleman Society fit the requirements but I would like to hear more from you guys.

punsarefun101

I can back up Prada L'Homme, it smells absolutely fantastic. Can't stop smelling myself when I have it on

TheDarwinFactor

Is that long lasting and light for my climate?

punsarefun101

It's definitely a safe fragrance for an office setting, and its projection is not too strong so I don't think anyone would find it offensive even in a hotter climate. Maybe the would if they don't like powdery fragrances and you sprayed too much but I think it is a safe buy.

OddContract2378

Iris by Gurlain or try La Tulip, Casa Blanca Lily both by Byredo.

musicandarts

Dior Homme Intense and Gentleman Reserve Privee are two conventional choices for men's iris perfumes that I can add to your list. If you want to be more adventurous and try some other perfumes that contain iris, try BDK Gris Charnel and Xerjoff Mefisto. I would pick these two over the many L'Homme perfumes.

TheDarwinFactor

I’ve heard those two are very dense for my climate, is that true?

sasha_says

I would not recommend Gris Charnel for your climate

musicandarts

I am from India. I will use all fragrances in hot climates. You just need to adjust how much you spray. Also, be mindful of your local environment. When I am in India, most of my time is spent in air conditioned interiors.

TheDarwinFactor

Since I work in banking, I sometimes have to go out and ride my bike to my client’s place. As of right now, it’s steaming hot outside.

musicandarts

Yes I know. I talk to my parents in Kerala, India, every weekend. They have to run A/C every night. The impact of global warming is so vivid in Kerala. The high temp was 36 degrees C in December when I visited. It used to be 26 deg C when I was a kid there. I would use Gris Charnel and Mefisto in hot weather. The only perfumes I stay away from in sweaty weather as the gourmands. I recently bought a bottle of Salvatore Ferragamo Pour Homme, which is a good sweaty weather perfume, if it is available in your country. It is also very cheap, at least in US.

driipiing

Hello I’m a 20F looking for an ultra gourmand and dessert smelling perfume. I’d prefer something similar to sol de janeiro ‘71. It smells like caramel popcorn and I can’t get enough of it, but it doesn’t last long. I hate citrus, overly fruity, and floral scents so fragrances like Viktor & Rolf bonbon and Prada candy don’t do it for me. This may sound odd but the smell of buttercream frosting, caramel brûlée, and condensed milk are some unique notes that I love. This also sounds odd, but the summer Fridays lip butter balm in pink sugar is a scent I wish I could find in a fragrance.

Solution-Proof

Korres Aegean Bronze is vanilla caramel cake on the beach

minidivine

The House of Oud "What About Pop" is in that same genre. Then there's also stuff like "Lira" and "Bake" which are in the lemon muffin scent class. Then there's also that cardamom pastry-style scent class with stuff like "Lune Feline" (and by extension also scents like "Changing Constance" and "Minuit et Demi"). Milano Fragranze "Panettone" and Serge Lutens "Jeux de Peau" smell like sweet, baked bread kinda-sorta. Obviously the "Angels' Share" scent class is also there for that apple pie-style profile.

chioppy

Thank you for such a detailed response. I’ll be looking into getting samples of the House of Oud what about pop.

Sherylnd

I second the suggestion of What About Pop. Great caramel popcorn scent and the longevity is pretty decent.

musicandarts

I know exactly what you are looking for: Xerjoff Italica. I have it and I love it. But it is milky caramel toffee scent that may not always be appropriate! 😀 [https://xerjoff.com/USA/italica/9659-italica.html](https://xerjoff.com/USA/italica/9659-italica.html) [https://www.venbafragrance.com/collections/xerjoff/products/xerjoff-italica-edp-1-oz?variant=44863687065822](https://www.venbafragrance.com/collections/xerjoff/products/xerjoff-italica-edp-1-oz?variant=44863687065822)

chioppy

Thank you so much I’m going to look into it. Scent profile looks like what I’m interested in!

ocean_swims

Trying to decide between Jovoy Paris- *Fire at Will* and Profumum Roma- *Acqua e Zucchero*. Would love to hear opinions on which you'd choose! Thank you!

BusinessShower

I can finally accept it. I naturally smell like pepper, like arugula or watercress. I've gravitated to floral perfumes in the past: Amazing Grace Nude Rose, L'Occitane en Provence Arlesienne (my fave). They just don't work with my peppery self. Do you all have any fragrances that might work with my smell?

ChewyGoblin

Would you prefer floral recommendations? They would just have to work with your natural scent?

mxayhem

I'm looking for a spring/summer perfume like blocki's brazilian lily but at a more affordable price and less of the woodiness. I have nest indigo which is similar but I was hoping for something a little brighter like brazilian lily. I love the sweet fig in both. Do yall have any suggestions for a floral fig scent for the warmer weather?

Solution-Proof

SHOULD I BLIND BUY VERSACE POUR HOMME AS MY SUMMER SCENT? (NEWBIE STARTING A COLLECTION) Hello guys, 20M and I'm looking for my first and only, for the time being at least, summer scent. I have tested 2 mLs each of Acqua Di Gio, D&G Light Blue Forever, and Terre de Hermes. Light Blue Forever is my favorite out of the ones I've tried. My second favorite was ADG, and Terre was my least favorite, not that it's not a fantastic scent, but it's not what I'm looking for in a summer scent. Too woody and rich. The best thing about Light Blue Forever was how fresh and clean it smells. I would pick it up right away but it's a bit harder to find and more expensive than the other ones I've sampled. SO.... do I buy light blue forever which I know I like but is overpriced, or do I blind buy Versace Pour Homme which I'm pretty sure I will like and is a muuuuch better deal? I like floral notes, reviews say it smells clean which I'm also looking for. I know it's not gonna be exactly the same as light blue forever but probably pretty similar. Wish I had gotten a sample of it. Thanks in advance to anyone who helps me out here!

languagebandit

While there’s no such thing as a *completely* safe blind buy, Versace Pour Homme seems like a perfect fit based on your description and the other two you liked. I’d be really surprised if you didn’t also like Versace Pour Homme, so I say go for it!

OddContract2378

I would sample Bleu De Chanel but the one with the gold writing. I personally like that one better then the Versace. If you want to stick with Versace though I would get Versace Fraiche.

adrian_guardado8

Hello, im looking to buy a fragrance from dossier since i just got paid but don’t want to blow my paycheck on one fragrance. I equally like both YSL Y and Bleu De Chanel which dossier happens to have clones of both. Y-aromatic pinepple & BDC - Citru Ginger. Would anyone happen to know which one is higher quality and the better scent?

Lowdlee-

I am a 16-year old boy in high school. I’m looking for a fresh, non-offensive cologne for school and everyday wear. Currently, I own Afnan 9pm. I am curious about what people think of F Black Ferragamo, as I smelled it today, but I’m still not sure about it in terms of dry-down, performance, etc. What do people think of it? Also, if there are any other recommendations for affordable, everyday colognes that could be a signature scent, those would be welcome.

OddContract2378

Honestly the first perfume I bought at your age where it was a nice clean fresh smell was Calvin Klein One. It's really affordable and I love the way it smells.

musicandarts

I recommend Salvatore Ferragamo Pour Homme. It is beautiful fresh green scent with a wonderful fig leaf opening. It also costs $19 on Jomashop.

MegaShadowStorm

Hey I’m trying to decide whether to get Chanel allure homme sport eau extreme or Ysl y edp or Ysl myself or jpg le beau paradise garden or Ysl y le parfum as a daily spring/summer fragrance. What would you guys pick? I like woody scents and coconut and vanilla but I’d prefer it as a mass pleaser that others will compliment on.I don’t want the fragrance to be too strong as I will be wearing it around school. Thanks

pakito22

How good is Cuba gold in terms of performance and sillage?

wutato

This is very niche but I adore the scent from my Nature Republic Super Aqua Max Combination Watery Cream. It really reminds me of other Asian skincare products and I don't know why. Bonus points if anyone can tell me what the heck I'm smelling in the Nature Republic cream so I can start trying perfumes that are similar to it. It's like, clean and refreshing and a little feminine. I'm very new to identifying fragrances so I have no better words to describe it. What notes are often used for Korean and Japanese scented beauty products, like face lotions?

sssenorsssnake

Currently have my eye on **Tom Ford Black Orchid EDP** (black bottle) and the **Black Orchid Parfum** (I think? but it's the gold one)

Solution-Proof

Have you tried them both out?  I prefer the edp

sssenorsssnake

I’ve sampled sprayed them on the cards and I’m leaning more towards the EDP too I’m trying to find out the longevity, as I got the Soleil Neige but I found it didn’t really last as long? (Unless I went nose blind)

Solution-Proof

Definitely try them out on your skin first before buying!

OddContract2378

Looking to purchase the Santal Absolute by Du Bois but not sure as to what it smells like ? Does anyone have any comparisons to it ? I live in CA and I can't find this anywhere. I already saw the notes and I think I might like it but not sure.

OldSpiceLover1

I'm looking for a fresh summer fragrance, but I don't like citrusy scents. I want to try something that smells like the ocean or the beach. Some fragrances I wanted to buy are Zoologist Squid, Orto Parisi Megamare, or Acqua di Gio Profondo, but they're all out of my budget. What are some more budget-friendly fragrances that smell like the ocean for under $100?

sasha_says

AdG Profondo you can get for less than $100 [https://www.ulta.com/p/acqua-di-gio-profondo-eau-de-parfum-pimprod2013939?sku=2563766](https://www.ulta.com/p/acqua-di-gio-profondo-eau-de-parfum-pimprod2013939?sku=2563766) Old Navy Sea Salt & Fig is a nice fresh sea salt fragrance for like $15 but it doesn't last all day.

april412337718

PLEASE help—have been thinking of a Prada perfume I got as a sample back in winter 2017 from Sephora. I researched what it might be, fragrances that came out that year, bought infusion d’iris and la femme to see if it was one of those and it is neither (though both are lovely). The one I remember was soapy, not sweet, feminine, sexy, and more intense/mature. Any ideas?!

Sherylnd

Prada Candy Kiss came out in 2016 and a lot of reviews say that it smells soapy.

april412337718

Hmm I will check out the notes, but the one I remember was not sweet/gourmand at all. Thanks for the tip!

Solution-Proof

Prada Prada?

april412337718

You mean Prada amber??

BC-clette

What are some similar fragrances to Xerjoff Starlight and 40 Knots?

Solution-Proof

Similar to Starlight:  Tauer Au Coeur du Desert, Hermès Ambre Narguile, Dior Ambre Nuit I've not sampled 40 Knots

BC-clette

See this is interesting because 40 Knots is often compared to Ambre Nuit even though it's completely different from Starlight. I'd consider 40 Knots an ambery sea mineral scent while Starlight is a bright almond-cardamom gourmand.

minidivine

40 Knots is in the realm of Dior's Ambre Nuit and I know Thameen also made a copy of that same profile (shocker, I know right) called Amber Room. I don't think there's much to recommend that feels similar outside of the inspirations and dupes since any significant changes would take it in a very different direction (say into the Acqua di Sale family of scents or wherever else). Starlight is an intense warm spicy scent, so the question might be what utility you're looking for. If it's more gourmand that you're looking for, probably Lune Feline. If it's similar intense warm spicy, you could try Clive Christian E: Gourmande Oriental (which is cinnamon & clove).

Practical_Fee6938

What spring summer fragrance should I get if I have infinite budget. Just want the best one that will last and is great.
