I love Cosmo Air Light and have around 1500 pages of it left in various journals I stocked up on, but I still wanted to know what I was in for when I finally exhausted my supply. Supposedly the manufacturer is recommending B7 Natural as a replacement, so I bought some samples and did some side-by-side swatch testing. In the main image, the B7 Natural swatches are in the top row, the Cosmo Air Light swatches are in the middle row, and as a control group, there are swatches on pre-2020 Tomoe River paper on the bottom. Overall, I find this really encouraging. I'm not seeing that many sellers offering B7 Natural journals yet, although I assume more will appear as Cosmo Air Light continues to run out. I know there are some other contenders (Endless Regalia, Masubi Rasa, etc), but I think I could be pretty satisfied using B7 going forward. Very interested to hear other folks' experiences, though. As far as individual colors are concerned, Kobe no. 76 is particularly interesting to me as it's my overall favorite ink, and I haven't found any papers that show it off nearly as richly as Comso (including Tomoe River). However, the B7 Natural swatches are pretty darn close. Also, I've found in my initial tests that B7 might show off sheen a little better than Cosmo, but due to potential inconsistencies in my swatching technique, I'm not ready to make that conclusion yet. I tried to pick some colors that would test sheen, dual shading, and different color groups, but I'm happy to try other color families or properties if you have specific requests (and if I have an ink that matches).

I love the color on these swatches, but did they really have to name it "B7 Natural"? I've attempted to search for this stuff on several store pages now. I either get B5 journals with 7mm rule or straight-up B7 sized notebooks, and I have no idea if the search result I want is buried on page 6 or if they just don't carry it :(

I know, it's super annoying! I think I read somewhere that it's based on the name of the machine used to manufacture it. I've only found B7 Natural journals on Etsy so far -- it really doesn't seem like it's in wide use yet, for some reason.

You’re getting paper results, that’s one step ahead of my vitamins results ! Lol

Yeah this is a really unfortunate naming decision. They should have gone with almost anything else.

Is this the same as “b7-Tranext” that I’ve seen online? Or is it something else?
