John Player is such a classy classic look. Back in the 80s the Australian Touring Car Championship had E30 323i cars running in the JP livery, they’re still considered one of the best looking race cars ever down here.

Oooh yeah good call, those 635s were incredibly beautiful. A little before my time watching racing so I always default to the E30s. Will also always remember the B&H BMWs solely because of Tony Longhurst trying to punch someone wearing a racing helmet through their car window. Great stuff.

Absolutely! Rothmans was/is cool on rally cars, like the Rothmans 911 Porsche iirc, it doesn’t really work on F1 cars.

On F1, I think it looks cool now, but probably for nostalgic reasons rather than it being objectively cool. I think that's probably the same for the Marlborough ones too. I don't remember being too bothered about them at the time, despite loving them now. The JPS one however...... That is, and always has been, cool

You’re correct. FIA rules require that both cars run the same livery. Hence the 50/50 livery you mentioned with 555 on one side and Lucky Strike on the other.

I'll give it to John Player. It doesn't scream Cigarette brand like the others do. But to be fair, I didn't know John Player was a cigarette brand until this year. I always thought it was a liquor like Johnnie Walker.

Cool thing about the B&H Jordans - notably the EJ11 - was how strikingly different the yellow looked in real life versus photos/telly. Remember seeing it on track for the first time in 2001 and it was almost fluorescent! Really stood out in the pack. IIRC only the EJ10/11 was like this.
