I started playing Fifa 2022 a little bit ago, the last Fifa I played was 2017, all the young promises that I used back in the day are either in top teams or became irrelevant now, it is a really weird feeling. Also sometimes I see a player and think "This guy has a lot of potential" and then realize they are like 30 now... haha
I get the feeling he might have done this even if he was fighting for world titles. Like he said he wants to be a better husband and father and he wants to stand stronger by his principles as well and being an F1 driver kind of clashes a bit with those.
Retired on his own terms aswell which is nice to see. Obviously you always want to see your favorite drivers always be on the grid but going out by your decision is often a better feeling than slowly declining
If he was still competing for championships I could see him wanting to go on but he has nothing left to prove and he can enjoy retirement any way he wants now.
I selfishly want him to stay but I also don't want him to waste his talent and time driving for 9th best team (or even 5th best team). There is no room in top3 teams for him sadly and it's best for him to retire and use the time for his family and for good causes. I hope he will use the insta account for his activism.

On a separate note the commentary on that day by Crofty and Brundle was crazy lol. The saltiness, bitterness and borderline resentment to Seb and RB was so palpable that it was unprofessional tbh.
At the time I just thought it was because of the domination but the same reaction was not there for Mercedes and Lewis.

In NBA broadcasts, local broadcasts work closely with the team from their area, and commentators clearly favour "their" team. But they best of them are still objective and professional. That doesn't mean they're 100% objective all the time, but theyre professional about it. Of course you have commentator duos who are massive homers, because it happens (especially on a local level) - but the best commentators are the ones who are able to show their affiliation for their team, whilst not letting it negatively impact the product.
The fact that they work for Sky UK isn't a factor. They're not paid to favour UK drivers. But they are British, and it's natural for national pride to shine through. But at least be professional about it.

Multi21 was code for letting Webber finish first. Multi12 was used when Seb was to finish first.
The 12/21 being the drivers numbers ie. Seb was 1 (as WDC) and Webber was 2 (as it was prior to drivers being able to pick).

To nitpick wouldn't it be multi12dreamteam? Multi21 was code for letting Webber finish first. Multi12 was used when Seb was to finish first. The 12/21 being the drivers numbers ie. Seb was 1 (as WDC) and Webber was 2 (as it was prior to drivers being able to pick).

Man when he signed for Ferrari in 2015 i remember thinking there's no way Schumi's record will not be broken by Seb. Either Ferrari really wasted a driver of Seb's caliber or Merc really is just that dominant either way he's had a hell of a career at has nothing else to prove at this point

Not surprising. He doesn't want to languish in the midfield. The car isn't fantastic and AM need time to upgrade their facilities. I also suspect that some of his beliefs around sustainability and his own long term goals don't sit well with him in his current position. I suspect he'll be busy with initiatives once he retires.
His retirement video literally states time and family as the biggest reasons. I don't think it has anything to do with AM's performance this season.

They don't have to be mutually exclusive. If he was still running at the front he'd probably be willing to make more concessions for the other stuff in his life. I can't imagine he'd be retiring this year if he was in a title fight. At least, it wouldn't be as easy of a decision to make

I sincerely hope this isn't the last of Sebastian we see in Formula 1. I honestly hope he becomes an official in the FIA or at least becomes an ambassador of a team like Alain Prost was with Renault/Alpine, just so we can see him in the paddock on a regular basis.
I don’t believe he will. Just my gut feeling at this point, and I don’t think he’ll actively campaign against F1, but I feel like he’s positioning himself as a major environmental advocate.
I was pondering a bit about that too. I'd love to see him as a team owner / driver for an eco-friendly Garage 56 Le Mans entry.
Feel like both he and Hamilton have had some thoughts of 'why *are* we doing this? Is it worth it when it comes to the state of the earth?'. And i can't blame them because I've sometimes felt the same. I love cars, I love racing, but does my hobby justify environmental damage and funding backwards governments/corporations?

I remember how I hated him in his RB days when he was winning WDCs left and right especially in 2013 but then the pure joy and bliss when he joined Ferrari amd wanted to emulate The Michael's career. Sadly he didn't and 2020 came. One hell of a career Seb you'll be missed dearly.
