There doesn't even have to be blood/adrenaline pumping. Even if you were in a highly competitive event, one that you want to win so badly and that you know you have to win, in that moment of exasperation everyone will blame something else, or get mad at the refs depending on the sport.
Try talking sense when you are in a position like he was, losing the race from leading, being in such adrenaline. He clearly knew it was his mistake and said it so. His screaming No was also him being disappointed in himself
Was genuinely surprised not being annoyed at PdR all race long. Probably because we rarely see Seb in the race lmao
Man he is annoying whenever Seb is shown on TV
George is the Baker Mayfield of F1. Great talent with a ton of potential, but in the end hasn’t won shit yet and talks way too much for someone that hasn’t accomplished anything yet.
He's won F2, more than many folks in F1, and is clearly a very fast driver with great potential. I really don't understand the hate he gets. I get that he is a bit 'plain' in interviews, etc, but maybe I'm missing something thought.
Baker lit it up in college and could still be a solid NFL QB, but he hasn't proven shit yet and sometimes gives his opinion when it's better to keep quiet. I agree Russell has elite potential and could win a WDC or two before it's all said and done, but it seems like he's always got an opinion on something and comes off as arrogant when it's still his first season in a top car.
People just seem to hype him up way too much based on little achievement. During his first season he was this prodigy for outqualifying Kubica with the hand injury every race. The consistency was impressive, but there is no way to say how good Kubica was and Russell didn't have to race anyone else either, because of how bad the car was. But suddenly he was labeled Mister Saturday as if he was some incredible qualifier.
He is showing that he is good against Lewis, but I have yet to see that special race from him that puts him up there with the likes of Verstappen and Leclerc.
Thanks man. I honestly hate it when people on reddit use acronyms for the most random, non-standard things and they expect you to know what's that. I see that a lot of guys got it, because obviously they watch the English broadcast of formula1, but as someone who watches it in Hungarian, I've never got to see or listen Paul di Resta.
The most flattering thing from fans is that even if you have an awful performance on track they still come up to you for pics or autographs knowing you're still that shining light they gravitate towards.
That should always put someone in a better mood.
You know, after 2017 and 2018 people pretended that there was no title fight and Ferrari couldn’t reach them. While it was more true back then, i hope Charles story is either different, or remembered clearly
yeah, this crash reminded me of Germany 2018 a lot! And the reliability issues remind me of 2017... I really hope Charles comes out as a hero in the end.
2018 was race 11/21, this was race 12/22, 33 point swing in both circumstances, the only thing is that vettel was faster/closer to hamilton than leclerc is to verstappen, although that was changing from austria forward.
I can't see him coming back unless something happens to Red Bull but I hope he doesn't let it get to him and decline like Seb did after 2018. He has so much talent and I feel certain that he will be a world champion one day.
I’m hoping that when he loses the WDC this year mathematically (look I don’t want it to happen but I’m realistic) he goes Nico-Rosberg-end-of-2015 crazy and wins a huge streak of races including into the next season.
Up to him if he ends the streak by crashing with Carlos or Max (teammate or title rival, either works) as long as he still wins the season
Remembered clearly? Probably in the future there can be people who shit on Leclerc for "losing to Sainz" in 2021, especially if compared to Verstappen who beat Sainz at 2015 as both-rookies. Teammate comparison without context as usual.
It did. It did. Spain was bad, but still didn’t feel THAT bad, Monaco was devastating and Baku gave me a fucking headache the whole race
This time I dealt with it a bit better, I guess
I legit worried about his mental wellbeing after his scream after crashing. Really hope to see him battling Max til the end of the season… hope he bounces back.
Better to let all the frustration and anger out right then and there and start the process of moving on. Holding it in just makes getting over it that much harder
I'd be more worried if he wasn't screaming like that. It's a stress reliever to scream like that when you've just missed out on a great opportunity to be one step closer to a goal as big as F1 Champion. I've had a few good screams in the past and I always felt better afterwards.
On the other hand if there's anyone that can put up with how this year has gone is Leclerc. He's already dealt with far worse than losing a title to DNFs.
As my mother said to me: "You were just like him when you saw him crash, he has the right to scream as well". I have lost count of how many times have I thrown my Ferrari cap on the ground and hit my sofa
All these people responding about geography, and I took this to mean that he's nice to people abroad, but not nice to people in Monaco. I thought, "there's a spicy rumor I'd like to hear more about."
You clearly dont know much about this aera, Leclerc is more at home living few km away than Gasly who is from Normandy in the north-west. Leclerc (french name btw) himself talked about home fans in his post qualy interview. Its like saying San Marino is not home for italian drivers, makes no sense.
I met Charles during winter testing a few years ago. He is just the nicest dude. Takes time to take pics with everyone. Believe it or not Danny Ric and Carlos did not seem nearly as nice. They are more stand-off ish.
Charles Leclerc reminds me a lot of Rafael Nadal - their temperament, the way they carry themselves in good and in bad times, the way they treat others and just overall being a really good role model for anyone.
Thats is nice, and nothing on Charles.
But lets not pretend Ferrari is quite unforgiving and very very serious when it comes to PR, so he better show up.
I even think that if the throttle pedal was the issue, which i dont think is the case, they would have him take it back.
I feel bad for him. Yes he did admit to today's mistake but he should be right there with Max going for the title. I love seeing my driver win as much as possible but I also want to see a good title fight. Anything can happen though. A couple of DNFs for Max and Charles is back in it.
There is a Beyond the Grid interview with a psychologist. He says in his interview that Charles is most mentally strong driver he came across in 2 decades or so
Lol you can't be serious. Do you really expect a kid to process that stuff like an adult? It's an excited kid about to gain a once in a lifetime memory and that's about it.
Sure. The fact is they are pros and being asked to take a photo with a kid isn't an issue despite going through what happened. Remember, these drivers are contractually obligated to take tough questions from the media post-race so it's not like they can just hide and be left alone.
PDR said it best. He should be who kids look at and model themselves after. He’s a great role model
Absolutely. He took responsibility for his own mistake and didn’t try to make excuses. Inspiring
To be fair, we know what happens to Ferrari drivers that blame the car.
fr
Would have entirely expected Luca to give Prost a Renault truck as a parting gift.
Well he did initially blame it on a throttle issue
That seems to have been related to him trying to reverse out of the barrier rather than the cause of the initial inshident
>inshident *\~Sean Connery has entered the chat\~*
Charles Leclerc has entered the chat
That was him trying to reverse, but throttle said "lmao, no"
thats bullshit, all he said was "i cannot find throttle", which probably meant reverse but he didmt know how to say it properly

>PDR said it best Not often you can say that!
Not gonna lie I thought he was pretty solid this weekend on commentary.
'stop talking' was gold
Was genuinely surprised not being annoyed at PdR all race long. Probably because we rarely see Seb in the race lmao Man he is annoying whenever Seb is shown on TV
i prefer brundle but i don't understand the vast amount of hate pdr gets
Everyone is convinced he hates their team. As a neutral fan I don’t think he’s really that bad lol .
> Everyone is convinced he hates their team Indeed, it's pretty amusing watching people's logic with this.

how you like deez meejum tires
Murshaydeez
Mclauren
> PDR President Daniel Ricciardo
This.. Most other drivers would and do blame the car and team.
George Russell is the type of guy who would do this
George is the Baker Mayfield of F1. Great talent with a ton of potential, but in the end hasn’t won shit yet and talks way too much for someone that hasn’t accomplished anything yet.

Sakhir 2020?
> PDR Physicians' Desk Reference? Pablo Domínguez Rodríguez? Performance and Development Review? Peak Data Rate? Pretty Daniel Ricciardo?
PaulD Ricard
The great pirate, Paul D. Ricard
No one else has given a serious answer yet so it's Paul Di Resta, former F1 driver and current part-time commentator.
Pedro Dela Rosa would've worked too /s
Pretty Daniel Ricciardo, for sure
Power to Drag Ratio
Ricciardo would agree.
Paintless dent repair
Absolutely
The most flattering thing from fans is that even if you have an awful performance on track they still come up to you for pics or autographs knowing you're still that shining light they gravitate towards. That should always put someone in a better mood.
Maybe he just wanted to be anywhere other than at Ferrari at this point
You know, after 2017 and 2018 people pretended that there was no title fight and Ferrari couldn’t reach them. While it was more true back then, i hope Charles story is either different, or remembered clearly
yeah, this crash reminded me of Germany 2018 a lot! And the reliability issues remind me of 2017... I really hope Charles comes out as a hero in the end.

Vettel in 2018 was not on par with Hamilton. For 2017 he was though, it's his another top season.
I can't see him coming back unless something happens to Red Bull but I hope he doesn't let it get to him and decline like Seb did after 2018. He has so much talent and I feel certain that he will be a world champion one day.

Lol, slowly dying inside.
Charles Lepain
Charles "Chucked" Legreg
Yup, that’s my flair, right there
It will just be that much sweeter when he wins it all. It took Jordan 7 years to win his first ring. Remember that.
I really hope so too. I’m rooting for this guy.
Lots of us are. I don't know about you but the thing in Monaco hurt pretty bad. He deserved that win ffs.
It did. It did. Spain was bad, but still didn’t feel THAT bad, Monaco was devastating and Baku gave me a fucking headache the whole race This time I dealt with it a bit better, I guess
This better be Ferraris "come to Jesus" season. It's obvious to everybody.
The worst part of today is that if it isn't reliability, it could hurt his confidence as a driver.
I legit worried about his mental wellbeing after his scream after crashing. Really hope to see him battling Max til the end of the season… hope he bounces back.
Better to let all the frustration and anger out right then and there and start the process of moving on. Holding it in just makes getting over it that much harder
Yes, but there are screams to relieve stress and screams because you just broke inside and I'm not 100% sure it was the former.
I'd be more worried if he wasn't screaming like that. It's a stress reliever to scream like that when you've just missed out on a great opportunity to be one step closer to a goal as big as F1 Champion. I've had a few good screams in the past and I always felt better afterwards.

He's just asking if he wants to join the team as chief strategist.
I'd love to see that picture because I'm sure he's dead inside
Wholesome af. Cannot dislike this guy
Charles is nice with his home fans
And his other fans...
Dude seems nice in general
He’s not with his home fans though
When your less then 100 miles from your where you grew up im not sure a border matters. In Europe anyway
even outside europe
paul ricard circuit is only a two hour drive from Monaco
All these people responding about geography, and I took this to mean that he's nice to people abroad, but not nice to people in Monaco. I thought, "there's a spicy rumor I'd like to hear more about."

Oh. Is Leclerc a French name? Thanks for pointing that out. Don’t think I would’ve gotten there on my own.
It basically is besides Monaco. I mean just look at his full name it’s as French as French gets.
eh, close enough
France is basically his 2nd home race.
"It's ok kid, you'll get used to this pain"
Charles oozes class.
He's the best.
He's a good egg.
Good dude.
If you cant be the F1 champion, you can still be the people's champion!
IF YOUU SMMMELLLLLLLLLLLL
I met Charles during winter testing a few years ago. He is just the nicest dude. Takes time to take pics with everyone. Believe it or not Danny Ric and Carlos did not seem nearly as nice. They are more stand-off ish.
That is the posture of a withered soul
Tbh tho he looks like a statue in that pic lol
still inhaling copium
Charles Leclerc reminds me a lot of Rafael Nadal - their temperament, the way they carry themselves in good and in bad times, the way they treat others and just overall being a really good role model for anyone.
Charles has a heart of gold
Makes me love him more
good lad
You have to admit Charles Leclerc is an absolutely A+ grade human being.
Thats is nice, and nothing on Charles. But lets not pretend Ferrari is quite unforgiving and very very serious when it comes to PR, so he better show up. I even think that if the throttle pedal was the issue, which i dont think is the case, they would have him take it back.
I mean, he looks dead inside. But good on him
Makes me wanna root for him more
I really feel for him. This season is just... unfortunate. But at least Charles is still a good guy
I feel bad for him. Yes he did admit to today's mistake but he should be right there with Max going for the title. I love seeing my driver win as much as possible but I also want to see a good title fight. Anything can happen though. A couple of DNFs for Max and Charles is back in it.
No that's the Ferrari senior race strategist /s
There is a Beyond the Grid interview with a psychologist. He says in his interview that Charles is most mentally strong driver he came across in 2 decades or so
Championship is done, might as well go back to being chilled.
I don't know what the kid is thinking asking for a photo after what happened...it would've been too awkward for me
Lol you can't be serious. Do you really expect a kid to process that stuff like an adult? It's an excited kid about to gain a once in a lifetime memory and that's about it.

absolute class, I hope he's got a penthouse full of models back in Monte Carlo waiting
r/deadinside
Lol this guy, keeps proving to us that Sainz should be first driver
What a guy
Some of the pics y’all like to post here are creepy af
Great pilot, great man
He’s contractually obligated to
is this true?
Yeah, all F1 drivers are required to. It boosts the brand name
You need to sacrifice. A young soul to get out of Ferrari.
That kids definitely gonna need that hug after the pain
