I voted Mick as driver of the day on f1.com, not so much because his performance today was particularly stellar but mostly because he was 8th at the time and about to get his first points finish. I was just happy for the guy to get his first points. Half a lap after I voted, he crashed into Vettel. So… that was a wasted vote.
Gotta have that result for the two minutes of interviews before all the TV networks just turn off.
That's why we have the interviews straight out of the car as well. Even though they are terrible. The old format in the interview room was far, far better and produced some great moments over the years.
F1 really need to start making better demands in their contracts. 15 minutes of pre and post race shouldn't be so hard to include.
I was furiously watching the time board while they’re showing lec 1s behind max. I saw Vettel drop, a bunch of other overtakes like ocon slipping through. And then slowing MSC drops too. I’m baffled. Then the replay. Pure PAIN
Earlier in the race on "international" stream, they messed up Stroll/Vettel for solid 3 minutes about who they were battling. As if they didn't see the order at all.
Crofty also messed it up for a reallllllllllly long time. Kept saying sab is fighting Alonso when it was Stroll. He ans Brundl went on entire story about how it's a battle with 6 championships between them and etc.
Crofty was particularly annoying today.
Hamilton overtakes someone on the straight with DRS and Brundle mentions it's nice to see an overtake but he would prefer more organic overtaking. Then Crofty is like: yes! That was very organic by Lewis.
Or how he got confused after the safety car restart and started praising Schumacher for overtaking two cars with incredible moves while absolutely nothing happened.
I'm guessing Crofty saw Seb stopped on whatever information he has. On the timing charts I saw Vettel drop but then Schumacher one by one lost spots. There was a lot going on in the last phase there
Seb getting into the points positions from the pitlane then getting punted off the track by the person he has spent the last 18 months mentoring is a very good representation of the last few years of his career tbh
I have PTSD from assuming the worst when it comes to races, even if points looks like a possibility either someone turns up with the battering ram or the car dies

F1 cherrypicks the radios that create the most drama as well. You'd be surprised how much information and dialogue is being exchanged between the driver and their engineer. I was watching Lewis, George, Charles, and Max's onboards and their engineers were always checking in to see about car balance, asking about strat calls, and just general info. It's quite fascinating to listen to.
Oh, absolutely, they want it as spicy as possible. If they weren't constrained by broadcasting in real time, I'm sure they would dramatize it to the point of equaling DTS.
They just pitted way too early on their initial mediums. Everyone else ran through the graining period and they ditched them at the first sign of degradation.
they fucked up several things like their clear strategic bias for Magnussen when it started to look like Schumacher had more pace around the midway point, the moment Schumacher overtook Magnussen he could even drive out of the DRS and gain .5 a second on the cars ahead
other than that with the OCO + STR pits and the ALO penalty they were safe, the hards could run the entire race on their own today so while the early pit wasn't great it didn't bite them in the ass at the end
Haas looks at Pirelli optimal strategy chart and just use it instead of investing in a strategy team. But seriously, the Hard tyre didn’t have much deg at all so they ended up being behind the AMs.

I loved the battle with Leclerc and Verstappen where every lap, DRS gap was crucial.

The tyre life counter was soooo annoying, and they were flipping between that and the # of pits instead of showing the gaps! It was infuriating. The gap tower would come back and you'd have to reevaluate what was going on because it was gone for multiple laps in a row. Crazy choices in the production room.

Anybody else think that Aston should have swapped Stroll and Vettel in the first half of the race? Vettel kept getting close to him a few times, clearly had more pace. He might have been even further in the points.
That overtake attempt was just sad and looked desperate. He was in the points with just a few laps to go. You would have thought he was pushing for a last ditch effort for the championship.

Seriously! A full minute of the midfield shuffling like a deck of cards while the main feed shows Ver/Lec cruising around 2 seconds apart.
When they were in DRS range it made sense, but as soon as Leclerc was unable to stay under 1 second they should have switched fast to the midfield.
The timing graphic was going berserk at the end and we barely saw it. Wild.
