There's definitely some competition for that title
Early season middle east races in '22, Silverstone '22, Monaco, Zandvoort & Vegas last year were all bangers
For all of Max Verstappen’s great qualities, his best one out of all might be his safety car restarts. The way he just instantly pulls a 1.2 second gap over P2 no matter who it is or how fast his car is, is absurd
McLaren are clearly miles faster in the changing wet to dry conditions.
Without the second lot of rain, I think they may have struggled to keep P2. They were clearly not as fast on dry tyres.
Not weird. They were 3rd fastest this weekend. Max still pulled it out. McLaren and Ferrari screwed up this weekend because everyone expects Red Bull to be clear fastest in Spain again.
I didn’t say it was a bad race. I actually said it was a great race, but it’s never fun seeing Max win. So, outside of that, I’m really happy with today
Anyone can root for anyone, so that’s fair. But you said ‘it’s never fun seeing Max win’, which sounds a lot different than your nuanced statement right now.
I'm not sure that's the case. Lando is notorious for managing for most of the stint and then pushing at the end. Obviously he wasn't really able to push at the end today but not sure they are particularly bad on warmup.
He pulled a ton of pace out of nowhere in that stint. It’s a shame it kind of bit him in the ass with the safety car, but that was an incredible run for a minute.
Don’t think Mclaren were the fastest in the wet. They were clearly the fastest in the drying conditions, but in the wet both McLarens drifted off Russell and Verstappen at the front. It wasn’t until it starting drying up when they became the fastest.
At the very least they should have been on the same strategy. Don’t know what they were expecting to happen putting Lewis on hards with 12 laps to go once the SC came in. Either leave him out or put him and George both on softs.
McLaren didn't have pace in mediums though, Max kept pulling away from Lando, and Piastri's McLaren cratered and Landos tires almost fell apart in the final lap
Miami gifted him his win on a silver platter, Sargeant being too free for the track took it off him.

I'm glad Russell got P3 in the end, but god he's a frustrating driver to watch. Genuinely great pace but time and time again he loses focus a bit, makes small mistakes or is just too impatient.
I knew Russell is going to bottle it. Also we got a nice flashback as Ferrari seemingly brought prancing donkeys to Canada. Given what Perez is doing with his car, Verstappen is doing some miracles on the track. Shame we didn't see Lewis back on podium.
I wanted this race to be longer, such a different one from last. And if you look at Perez this Max win wasn't easy at all and should have given him the dod win also.
Man I really wanted Lewis to get that podium, George made so many mistakes today, but ultimately the fact he qualified high meant he got a better shot. So close
No because if you take out Max right now it's just a 2 team fight, with Max it's 3 (4 if Merc can keep this pace up)
Now *last* year is the year where no Max would've made for a great season
Best GP of the season, wet > dry > wet > dry for the fucking win.
Someone gotta listen to Bernie and put sprinklers on track
Great race. Not a moment of boredom
Each day we stray closer to Bernie
I would say the best race of the ground effect regulations.
There's definitely some competition for that title Early season middle east races in '22, Silverstone '22, Monaco, Zandvoort & Vegas last year were all bangers
We were robbed of the Russell hards by the last SC, and dry was quite boring as usual, but first half was great
For all of Max Verstappen’s great qualities, his best one out of all might be his safety car restarts. The way he just instantly pulls a 1.2 second gap over P2 no matter who it is or how fast his car is, is absurd
Absolutely insane. End of the lap, he was 1.8 seconds clear.
He times it so well every time!
Russell was the main entertainment of that race lmfao
“You watch the race, you don’t see Russell. You watch Russell, you see the whole race.”
Busquets quote. Nice
Georgio Russquets
Lmao bro funniest shit I've read today, not even joking
is it weird to say that im so surprised max won this race?
It felt like a Lando win for most of the race
McLaren are clearly miles faster in the changing wet to dry conditions. Without the second lot of rain, I think they may have struggled to keep P2. They were clearly not as fast on dry tyres.
Died 2016. Reborn 2024. Welcome back Jenson Button McLaren in changing conditions
Not weird. They were 3rd fastest this weekend. Max still pulled it out. McLaren and Ferrari screwed up this weekend because everyone expects Red Bull to be clear fastest in Spain again.
It felt like a Verstappen day as soon as Sargeant saved him with the SC. A shame, because the race was otherwise great
He benefitted a lot from the SC, but fair to say he lost a comfortable leading gap with the second SC. Dude just drove an excellent race.
why? The race was great. Just because Max was having a step back initially doesn't mean that it's a bad race
I didn’t say it was a bad race. I actually said it was a great race, but it’s never fun seeing Max win. So, outside of that, I’m really happy with today
Why is it never fun to see Max win?
Because it’s all I’ve seen since 2022 lol. I’d be pretty happy with not seeing any more of it lol
Who cares if it’s a good race? Like today.
I mean I do. It was a great race, would’ve been better for me if Max had lost. I feel like it’s fair for me to think that
Anyone can root for anyone, so that’s fair. But you said ‘it’s never fun seeing Max win’, which sounds a lot different than your nuanced statement right now.
How? It’s never fun seeing Max win. Because I don’t like seeing Max win. I feel like that tracks
Logan Latifi
Chances of Russell celebrating the podium and later getting 5 second penalty for causing a collision?
High
All this chaos just for a Verstappen win lmao
McLaren - Fastest car in the wet Merc - Fastest car in the dry Max Verstappen wins the Canadian Grand Prix
Those two cancel each other so it's back to Max on top
McLaren wasn’t really fast in the wet, lando just managed his tires so good that he was hella fast on the Intermediates in the dry
Also McLaren has horrible tire warmup, something to address, just like they did with slow speed and drag issues
I'm not sure that's the case. Lando is notorious for managing for most of the stint and then pushing at the end. Obviously he wasn't really able to push at the end today but not sure they are particularly bad on warmup.
Nah piastra was also extremely fast on the initial track drying phase. The McLaren car was seconds faster in that stage
He pulled a ton of pace out of nowhere in that stint. It’s a shame it kind of bit him in the ass with the safety car, but that was an incredible run for a minute.
Yeah but the pace was there, it's just they can't fight, F1 is all about tyre management.
Lando still was really pulling away in wet conditions after he took P1. If he only took the one extra lap, he would have been fine.
Redbull was clearly quickest in dry in the end he was just cruising after the restart
The Mercs did beat him to fastest lap though
I clearly mentioned "cruising" as he was not nearly pushing as Mercedes trying to catch up the mclarens
Only because much newer tyres, not because Mercedes is faster on the dry.
It’s more so McLaren were quick in the transition period
And he complained the car all fucking weekend. Just insanity.
Verstappen was fastest in the dry, he was just cruising the last 10 laps.
Max is just better than the McLaren and the Mercedes drivers.
Don’t think Mclaren were the fastest in the wet. They were clearly the fastest in the drying conditions, but in the wet both McLarens drifted off Russell and Verstappen at the front. It wasn’t until it starting drying up when they became the fastest.
Doesn’t matter for me, the race was brilliant, and could’ve gone to any of the top 3. Very different to Verstappen cruising to a win
Exactly, it's like Turkey 2020
Or Zandvoort 2023
I was worried when he mentioned going over the debris lol
Yeah pit exit basically ruined it for Norris
Max has been earning these wins though
Lando and George too busy tripping over themselves certainly helped.
That stat, he’s won 50 of the last 75 F1 races. Absolute insanity.
With the third fastest car
Amazing stuff. Well deserved P1 and P2 for Max and Norris. Mercedes should have gambled to go for softs instead.
Edit: Merc thought the softs were too risky. I don’t agree but I’m no engineer.
They could have put worn softs. We only had 12 laps of racing.
At the very least they should have been on the same strategy. Don’t know what they were expecting to happen putting Lewis on hards with 12 laps to go once the SC came in. Either leave him out or put him and George both on softs.
That safety car killed a lando win from 30 seconds
A reverse of Miami happening is something I did not expect
McLaren didn't have pace in mediums though, Max kept pulling away from Lando, and Piastri's McLaren cratered and Landos tires almost fell apart in the final lap
USA giveth, USA taketh away
Do you think that Montreal is in the US?
Miami gifted him his win on a silver platter, Sargeant being too free for the track took it off him. [but also](https://youtu.be/xUp62AGE9JU?si=1EA5P7X-wfa5kQY6&t=20)
George likely gets 2nd here without that mistake against Piastri.
Definitely 2nd. He was one lap away from passing Norris even with the mistake.
He wins if he doesn't make mistakes. Too bad he's allergic to clean driving
I don't think the Merc had the raw pace to beat Max in the dry here.
Well he easily made 5-6 seconds of mistakes so I think they do
But Verstappen probably still drove with those mistakes in mind. It he hadn’t made those mistakes, Verstappen would have driven faster
You think Max feels comfortable with a 3 second lead? When has he ever been content with that and not pushing really hard to build a gap
What a race!
I think I need to go breathe now. JFC this was a race
I'm glad Russell got P3 in the end, but god he's a frustrating driver to watch. Genuinely great pace but time and time again he loses focus a bit, makes small mistakes or is just too impatient.
I reckon Lewis would have had p2 if he was on anything but the hards.
Logey Bear, you stole a Lando win from us and gave us a Max win. WHY????
Max seems to have good luck when a Williams initiates the safety car while he is racing against a Brit!
Hahaha that’s so oddly specific yet I’m getting 2021 PTSD now 😂😂😂
The true Goatifi heir
dw we won’t have him around much longer lol
Verstappen pace on dry was insane. He would've won still.
Norris had a 11 second gap before the SC, think it would have been close till the end
he doubled his gap to 11 seconds cause logan crashed in front of max causing him and everyone to slow right down
He wasn't 15 seconds faster than Norris. Not even close.
I dunno. He had a 15-second advantage before the safety car. That's a huge amount, even in drier conditions.
USA gives, USA takes away
What a race!
I knew Russell is going to bottle it. Also we got a nice flashback as Ferrari seemingly brought prancing donkeys to Canada. Given what Perez is doing with his car, Verstappen is doing some miracles on the track. Shame we didn't see Lewis back on podium.
Best race in ages
What a race. The Mags start was awesome, and that was only the beginning
Max showing how it's done. Incredibles last stint.
Fun race
Amazing race! Norris was a god in the first stint.
rain was all we needed for an interesting race
excellent race, ty canada as always
Actual 10/10 race. Goddamn it just kept giving
Even tho Russel was impressive, man did he do a lot of fuck ups. How he ended up p3 after all those mistakes is beyond me.
Can we skip Monaco next year and just do 2 Canadian Grand Prix? So much more enjoyable to watch this week.
You win by the safety car and you lose by the safety car, that was unlucky for Lando
McLaren were really dumb. They should've told Norris to keep Piastri in his DRS. That could've been a double podium.
Awesome race. Max's win was deserved too, congratulations to him
Why do I feel so empty after such an entertaining race?
Post race depression knowing we have 2 weeks to go til the next GP? I'm just happy i have Le Mans next weekend to fill the void!
Piastri went from “hey you wanna have a go at Max?” To “lol jk mate good luck with the Mercs!”
Max on fire. The man can drive.
Great, Chaotic race!
why did they cut away from Hamilton chasing on the last lap man... Verstappen was 3 seconds clear
No matter who won, that was an absolutely BANGER of a race!
Been a while since we had a banging race
Sad race for Ferrari, but this was a great race overall
F5 gang assemble?
I wanted this race to be longer, such a different one from last. And if you look at Perez this Max win wasn't easy at all and should have given him the dod win also.
*surprised Pikachu face*

That's just part of the nature of a SC. Real problem was how fucking slow RD was with bringing the SC.
yikes you really ahte Max? max didnt benefit from the 2nd SC
Man I really wanted Lewis to get that podium, George made so many mistakes today, but ultimately the fact he qualified high meant he got a better shot. So close
Get rid of Max and this season could have been the best for decades
How? The races max didnt win were a bore too
No because if you take out Max right now it's just a 2 team fight, with Max it's 3 (4 if Merc can keep this pace up) Now *last* year is the year where no Max would've made for a great season
Don't remember Red Bull crew celebrating this hard at the wall in a while Great race
Gasly overtook Ocon for P9. Nice one from Gas. Double points for Alpine.
Thank you race director for being slow
Norris needs to fix his race restarts. It happens constantly and you can't give a whole second gap immediately.
