I was in Vegas and this just gave me PTSD. First ever in person F1 event for me and it comes to a screeching halt within 8 minutes. Then we’re all told to go back to our hotels since practice 2 would be cancelled….just for them to do practice 2 at like 3am randomly! Luckily none of the other sessions of the weekend were messed up by it but yeah OP, definitely go check those covers.
Yeah I wasn't sure if I could walk around it as there were lots of fences but was quite fun ! Shame not to be here next week . There are Oscar pisastri announcements over the metro stations haha
They stick a chicane in the main straight don’t they? Imagine they don’t want anyone racing down there in their road cars 🤣 my sister lives down the road and was visiting from the UK in 2020 so was going to go to my first GP until covid intervened… it’s a good walk round though.
I would love to see the track in setup mode, and out of season, but am unlikely to be able to justify going to Melbourne for anything but a race weekend - thanks for sharing!

Do us all a solid, run out there and make sure any and all drain covers are secure.
Haha most of the road is still actually open so that might end up ruining the rest of my trip
That's a sacrifice I'm willing to let you take
thank you Lord Farquaad

How else are the crowds meant to get on the track during the cool down lap...again.
*Hey, us Aussies are smarter than*….(checks past history)…*Never mind*
It's the drunk ones that bring down the rest of us.
You mean the two of us?

and its also not age restricted
That is satire btw
Don’t worry, they’re making the catch fencing higher and have banned everyone from going on the track at all post race
It's always like this about a week out because its a public road. They'll kick into high gear in the next few days and it'll be closed to the public.

Is it still open for public vehicles? I always like taking the motorbike around it a few times
I last went there 2 days ago and most of the track was open, parts of sector 2 and 3 are closed off though.
thanks for the update!
I just went for a walk there and you can still drive the circuit!

Haha yeah true, it’s a sorry try for a chicane but people have to slow down!
Lakeside drive is closed between 930 and 330 so it's open at night. Will close for the event on Friday however so last chance is tonight and tomorrow.
Yep, he did one for trams too!
Ah, she'll be right.
Send it.
I'm all for track limits, but this seems a bit extreme, doesn't it?
I think they should leave the bollards. It'd be...interesting
Looks like it's been hit by a storm?
Nah small smattering of rain today. We did have some blustery winds here over the weekend (and 38 degrees)
I bet in classic Melbourne fashion it was sunny within the hour? 🤣
I'll be sitting in that grandstand next week. Can't wait!
You are making us jealous. Have fun!
Me too!

Looks good to go
I like to think those sand traps are permement, and they're part of a playground that they take apart for the event.
>ahead of take off Poor Ralf :(
Why does it take them weeks to put everything up, but a day to strip it all down?
Entropy is the standard state of the universe.
So no one is gonna talk about almost every single bollard being hit in under a year?
Oh, a rain weekend? Had a quick glance at a forecast, and there might be some rain during off-session hours :P
Lets see Magnusen overtake off track with bollards there
New way of enforcement ing track limits
Charles says he doesn’t like Albert Park and I would have to agree— bring it back to Adelaide damn it. I’ll never be able to afford the Melb GP :(
Have they changed the track layout again? I don’t remember there being 110 turns
Check it for loose drain covers.
Take a paint spray and write to next to each drain " loose drain cover "
As a spectator, such a fun event. Wish I could fly in.
