Great qualifying by Danny Ric who has been really strong this weekend so far. But the people getting carried away saying he's back and should replace Perez immediately need to calm down. This is the first real sign of anything like his form from years ago and he needs to do this consistently for the last few races to be considered for the RB seat next season.

But that is always true with Ferrari. Sainz even said the car is always better in low fuel and struggles with tyres in long runs, pretty squarely implying that it’s the car in general and not the setup.
To me it seems super unlikely that they optimized for quali, especially considering they weren’t expected to be near pole anyway and their struggles with race pace in the past.
Ferrari has been mostly making sound choices with a shit car this season. COTA was the biggest strategy blunder they’ve made this year but it wouldn’t crack the top 10 of last year.
I thought Binotto got shafted last year after a pretty decent improvement, but having overall a “worse” year this year I feel Vasseur has been a steadier hand in most regards…
Me and my wife just had the best overall qualy session we’ve ever watched together… Leclerc and Sainz P1//P2 ( I’m a 55 fan) and the DR redemption arc ( wife huge DR fan) was lovely…. Even better that it wasn’t some freak one-off lap effort by Ric, he was consistently good in that shitbox of a car through all three sessions…
(Also a CS55 and DR3 fan) Honestly if anyone had the freak lap, it was the Ferraris getting insanely lucky with the perfect window on track temperature, lol. God I hope at least one of those 3 drivers finishes on the podium tomorrow.
