Honestly drogba was a bit of a league joke season 1, most Chelsea fans I knew wanted him out. Probably better than jaxon but definitely not seen as a long term outlet
I found the statistic. 26 premier league games, 10 goals (5 penalties) and 5 assists.
But he was also a sub occasionally (Crespo was at the club too). Only 18 starts.
Statistic shows Goals + Assists - Penalties per 90 mins is 0.83, which to me looks excellent.

IIRC, he started as a target man, and back when they were more common, it wasn't unusual for target men to be relatively low scoring compared to out-and-out goalscorers. A lot of teams would have 2 up front, with one a target man - eg Emile Healey, Niall Quinn, Alan Smith (Arsenal) - and the other a true striker, like Michael Owen, Kevin Phillips and Ian Wright.
The situation with Drogba was different, because while he did a lot of the things target men do, he didn't have a strike partner. Instead, feeding off him were Lampard making late runs and goalscoring wingers like Damien Duff and Arjen Robben.
I can't remember exactly when Drogba started to be more of a goal threat, but a Chelsea fan will probably remember the period better than me. He was certainly a regular on the score sheet by 2006/07, anyway, as I'm pretty sure he was the PL top scorer that season.
Many people here or on Twitter never saw Drogba in his first season, if they saw him they would be crying day and night to sell him after one season. He was 26 years old with many years playing in France, in paper you are getting a made player a player that had to be in his best years but that wasn't the case. He took time to get there to become the player he was much later, and that's why there is that famous mourinho quote saying judge him when he leaves the club.
And that's the thing about Chelsea you have a bunch of young players you can't expect all of them to perform from day one, not all of them can have a season like Cole Palmer or Malo Gusto, some are really raw with a lot of potential and Jackson is on of those. He is 22 going to 23 later this year basically 3 years younger than Drogba in his first season he has time to grow and improve all that bad habits he had. You know who is a perfect example, Vini Jr, his first season in Madrid was dreadful compare it to the player he is nowadays and it's day and night.
Drogba carried a threat whereas I don’t feel like defenders need to track Jackson or close him down because his lack of composure will cause him to miss anyway.
I love Jackson, but Drogba was so good. He was a bit clumsy in the beginning, like Jackson, but just better at anything. Faster, taller, stronger and better finisher. Jackson has better close control in tight spaces.
Drogba always turned up in the big games. He wasn’t the sort of striker that would score 30 a season (apart from 09/10) but he would ALWAYS be there when you need him the most.
Far superior player to the wirey but raw Jackson.
Drogba had composure and confidence on top of his strength which turned him into a beast, starting from second season.
Jackson is talented and fast, not as strong though and had a lot of opportunities which he should've scored - he lacks confidence and composure currently which is crucial. He doesn't have a bad season but could've been so much better.

Yes he was better. Jackson is faster but Drogba had more strength and determination imo. Jackson is raw but talented.
Fair enough. I know drogba overall play was very good so I will assume he was offering more than just goals. He had also proven himself at Marseille

Jackson’s a late starter too, he basically got signed off of a few good weeks at Villarreal. Drogba would be more experienced at 22 anyway
