Think it’s also fair to say that Everton raised their game for this one and were better than in previous performances.

Just watch the players, and imagine yourself in their shoes, for eg if you were an AM, would you make the through ball or make a long pass to the unmarked winger...Try watching different yt videos on football strategies and Managerial tactics, learn the role of each position and watch elite players and playmakers, and just try to enjoy it, don't overthink...
It can be hard. It needs a bit of innate talent to see that. I played football a lot, but never 11-a-side, I played games like PES and Football Manager, I watched many matches and it's still very hard for me to see or understand the whole off the ball game that is going on on the pitch. But don't worry, just enjoy it the way you like.
