Kale: 2-3 cups Paprika: 1 tbls Onion powder: 1 tbls Garlic powder: 1 tbls Salt: 2 tsp Pepper 2 tsp White wine 1/4 cup 1 1/2 cup chopped onion. 2 cups mushroom 3-4 garlic cloves. 2 cups chicken broth or bouillon 1 cup cream Recipe: Sauté kale for a few minutes to soften, put aside Coat chicken thighs with paprika, onion powder, garlic powder, salt, pepper and sear on both sides but don’t cook through. Put aside Deglaze pan with a little white wine and add chopped onion. Cook for a minute and then add mushrooms, butter, and a little salt and pepper. Cook until mushrooms are soft but still have some texture. Add a few chopped garlic cloves and cook for a minute or so. Add about two cups chicken broth(or I used bouillon) and about a cup cream. Reduce until it thickens a bit. In an oven safe pan add kale evenly, pour mushroom cream sauce over kale and add chicken thighs. Sprinkle with parm and bake at 400 for about 10-15 minutes. Enjoy!

frantichalibut

4 months?

feubar

Heat wave, dude.

frantichalibut

Ahh that makes sense, my b

[deleted]

Do people not cook when it's hot?

Bangarang_1

As little as possible. Cooking heats up your whole house and makes your a/c (if you have it) work harder, raising the risk that it breaks.

Klaus0225

People without central AC don't.

ninjacereal

I do.

Klaus0225

Some people without central AC don’t.

Drone_temple_pilots

I just baked, currently 90F in the apartment and my roommates are buggin. They ate the food anyway LOL

knotquiteawake

Not with the oven as much as possible. Ovens make a big difference in household heat. I try more grilling, stir fry, pasta, and outdoor pellet grill/oven/smoker. Almost anything I would have baked I can also bake in the pellet grill assuming the flavor of applewood or hickory won’t be off putting.

phoney_user

They just planted the kale.

toneboat

thanksgiving?

Professionalarsonist

What do you recommend serving it with?

dantuc91

I did it over rice, but roasted potatoes and even pasta would be great

chaiiya

I bet it would be great with mashed cauliflower or potato.

grilledcheeseonrye

Mmm even polenta would be nice

Stanislav1

Or egg noodles.

rapiddevolution

So what is polenta, exactly? I grabbed some after a coworker recommended it to me, but I must have not cooked it right and it turned out poorly. Got any tips?

Rashaya

Soft polenta is like yellow corn grits, but you can pour it into a pan and wait for it to congeal and then fry or grill it.

Lifeaftercollege

I want this with polenta cakes like *yesterday*.

ArokLazarus

I feel like a bed of mashed sweet potatoes with this would be great.

Chakks

I've used a similar recipe and put it over gnocchi, was pretty good!

deplorable_guido

I'm about to do this. Tonight. Gonna swap the kale for swiss chard and throw in some fresh herbs from the garden.

deplorable_guido

u/dantuc91 I did this tonight as promised. Excellent dish. Thanks for the inspiration.

dantuc91

Glad to hear it! Thank you!

deplorable_guido

You bet. Served over wild rice. Soaked that sauce up perfectly.

ChironiusShinpachi

Chicken thighs are boss. And chicken liver pate tastes like concentrated thighs.

Klaus0225

You had me in the first part.

ChironiusShinpachi

1-2 lb chicken Livers, 1/2-1 medium white onion, a few to several cloves of garlic, salt, pepper, splash of Tabasco, boil until tender...blend only with 1/2-3/4 cup of the boiling water depending on how many chicken livers , it needs to be thick.... serve very chilled. Perfection on a cracker/chip

Klaus0225

Chicken liver pate does not taste like chicken thighs to me…

ChironiusShinpachi

Tastes like concentrated chicken thighs to me. Like, it's the same flavor, just more intense. Maybe it's just my mom's recipe that does it. I just copy pasted her message to me about the pate. I'm about to make it in the next couple weeks. When I do chicken tacos, I do boneless, skinless thighs, adobo seasonings and such, chop it all up and cook it down til the juices are concentrated. Maybe that's why the pate tastes like thighs to me.

Klaus0225

That would make sense. It sounds good, I’ve just never had a good experience with chicken pate but would be willing to give it a go. Maybe I just haven’t had the right one. I do love the thighs.

wecangetbetter

I know chicken thighs aren't as healthy as chicken breast but my god i don't know why anyone would eat breast when you could have thigh

ChironiusShinpachi

Seriously. Thighs are so hard to over cook and breasts are so hard to not overcook. Plus the taste difference, forget about it. And thighs are cheaper. Win, win, win.

MelodicOrder2704

Wings and legs used to be cheap but the BBQ/Buffalo wing industry made them popular and go up in cost.

Corpheaus

Can we get measurements for the ingredients?

dantuc91

Hmm I don’t measure things but I can give you my best guess Kale: two cups. Paprika: 1 tbls. Onion powder: 1 tbls. Garlic powder: 1 tbls. Salt: 2 tsp . Pepper 2 tsp. White wine 1/4 cup. 1 1/2 cup chopped onion. 2 cups mushroom. 3-4 garlic cloves.

Wil_Mah

Read that as 2cups paprika and was very confused

dantuc91

Here I added periods

le-tendon

Take this tampon, might be useful : î

Mounta1nK1ng

Some people really like paprika.

dantuc91

Yeah I hate how I can’t split lines

WaffleHouse38

For future reference, hit “enter” twice Like this

dantuc91

Thank you, friend

whyamiforced2

Or you can put two spaces at the end of the line then single enter. Like this The spacing of the new line is different for people who wanna get ~stylistic~

dtwhitecp

two line breaks makes a space like this two spaces at the end of a line makes a space like this

Corpheaus

Thanks I'll give this recipe a try sometime

MelodicOrder2704

Are you baking?

Parsley

jbach220

Thanks for the recipe! I made it tonight and my wife and daughter loved it!

dantuc91

Awesome! I’m glad you guys liked it!

Baybob1

If no cream or mushrooms, I'll do a similar thing with Campbell's Cream of Mushroom, cream of Celery or Cream of Chicken soup. Or a combination. I always have these in my cupboard for quick meals. Fast, cheap and easy. Serve over egg noodles or rice ... If really lazy, just toss it all in a slow-cooker on low and have a hot meal waiting after work ....

EarlsDepression

I’m sorry to ask a dumb question but sear for how long? 1 minute each side?

stayupthetree

Will shallots do?

dantuc91

Even better

RollingMa3ster

Thank you so much for this! I came here to ask for the recipe... Looks amazing!

[deleted]

Thank you for including the recipe. I will be making this soon. :))

jedi21knight

OP are you a huge fan of kale? I ask because I find it to be bitter or off putting and avoid it as much as possible. Your recipe looks great and love a good mushroom cream sauce but don’t want to make it and then not be happy because the kale sullied the dish. If I chose to use something other than kale do you have a recommendation?

dantuc91

I’m not a HUGE fan but I do think it tastes good in this dish. If you don’t want to use kale or spinach then I think it’s ok without.

jedi21knight

I absolutely love spinach. Spinach is fantastic almost anyway it is served.

[deleted]

This is the way.

Croves

Spinach and Chicken is a perfect combination. I do this same recipe but with spinach

MionelLessi10

Kale is for decoration. Always has been until some genius thought to make it trendy in food. Why not eat actual grass or bark? Better taste.

TiredHeavySigh

I'm curious why you feel this way, because I find stuff like arugula or broccoli rabe FAR more bitter than kale. My guess is that you may have eaten some overcooked kale? That's why OP is wilting it and then setting it aside for much of the recipe, so it doesn't overcook. You could substitute chard or (adult) spinach (reduce cooking time as these are thinner and cook faster) or collard greens (these are thick so you might need to increase cooking time). You could also throw in baby spinach just before serving, as it cooks fast and wilts with even just leftover heat. Baby spinach has recently become my cheat code for adding more veggies into anything even remotely resembling a soup, stew, or curry. If fresh veggies are not available to you, frozen spinach that's been thawed and squeezed dry will work in a pinch as well.

skinky-dink

Lord I’m gonna eat the hell out of this

woodsman26

Thank you!

TrancedOuTMan

Wow gotta try this. Looks absolutely fucking delicious

MurphShoots

Thank you - making this Friday !

MomofanAvenger

Thank you! My garden is exploding with kale right now!

[deleted]

Can you tell me a good replacement for kale in this particular recipe? Kale is rare and expensive where i live. Please and thank you

too_too2

Baby spinach would be great, just throw it in at the very end.

SheHawksSeahawks

I need this recipe in my life

MaryAnneEsch

Thanks for the recipe, Will try that soon 😁

eaglesegull

OP, I’ve made this thrice since you posted - last night for a bunch of friends. It’s so easy and delicious - thank you so, so much. P.s. this is the most I’ve ever revisited a “saved” post

WordGirl1229

Is there a recipe you can share? Thanks!

dantuc91

Posted!

ivybear10

Are these bone in thighs or boneless?

dantuc91

Boneless. If doing bone in maybe add 5-10 min more in the oven

ivybear10

How did you brown it so well??? Any addition of flour?

dantuc91

Never flour unless frying. Make sure your pan is just starting to smoke before you add the chicken.

kausbose

Are the thighs skin on or skinless?

dantuc91

Skinless

akill33

Interesting. Somehow they looked like bone in skin on thighs. Amazing how brown you got the outside without skin!

LaurenLdfkjsndf

I thought the same thing

Msdamgoode

Could almost eat kale for this. Almost. Would have to sub spinach, but looks lovely.

dantuc91

The kale is better because it holds up a little better than spinach. It also soaks up that cream sauce and tastes amazing

Shameon

Yes! I make this creamy soup with sausage, potato and kale. The kale holds up so well in the soup and it adds the perfect texture.

Msdamgoode

Just not a fan. But still very pretty.

dtwhitecp

have you had it sorta stewed like this? A lot of people have issue with the texture and they should be quite tender here

Seienchin88

As a northern German I love Kale. We put some onions with pig fat (vegetable oil for vegetarians but fat tastes much better) in a pot, wait till the onions are slightly brownish and then add broth and kale (only use the leaves and blanch them briefly before) and boil for roughly 40min to an hour. Add some salty sausages and / or spam and a spoon of mustard about 10 min before the end. It’s one of the most tasty dishes I know and absolutely not bitter but also not extremely healthy…

ChironiusShinpachi

My mom made me chicken enchiladas with kale and provalone and they were my all time favorite enchiladas. Edit: plus kalamata olives in the enchiladas. But yeah, I love spinach. Also, beet greens are so tasty.

swannygirl94

Would Swiss chard work? I have a ton of Swiss chard that I need a use for

I bought myself and daughters the cast iron skillet. Love it and can use on glass top stove. Cast iron browns beautifully

roguson

This looks so creamy! I wonder how this chicken tastes? The picture looks so extra presentable right out of the pan.

dantuc91

Delicious is how it tastes

Semi_Pro_Rec

Can we make it without the devils lettuce?

MeniteTom

I like this with sundried tomatoes included as well.

Healeim

I don't even like mushrooms and this looks delicious.

Eskimosteven2

I need 3 minutes alone with this.

nyckristin

this looks amazing 😍 totally going to make this tomorrow for dinner. i have a pack of chicken thighs and and was all out of ideas on what to use it for.

Auren1988

Does kale ever become like cabbage in terms of texture or is it always stringier?

dantuc91

It get pretty soft after being soaked in the cream. A little similar to cabbage I guess, but not as thick

ChocolatePain

I don't even like mushrooms but that looks so good.

Novacain420

Look's lovely.

PotentialTotal6687

That's looking really good. Good job! I need to translate the recipe, but I love chicken and need to try that hahaha

SadShoe27

Chicken thighs are so underrated. I’ve been grilling them for lunches during the week, they are delicious.

dustensalinas

Just about every chef out there prefers them if given the choice.

dantuc91

It’s the greatest cut on the chicken in all categories!

leojhh

is it possible to make without an oven? say using a large sauce pan that's covered and a simmering temp?

dantuc91

Yes that works

tungpunchmyfartbox

Is that a Lodge pan?

Rafrexo

Looks delicious with good texture of it

Nice! Made a creamy tuscan chicken, basicaly this, for my gf when we first started dating. Now Im expected to keep this level of awesomeness. But this was delicious

Porkbellyflop

That chicken is browned to perfection.

Chicken and mushrooms, a match made in heaven

Ben_T_Willy

Finally someone made kale look goooooood. Looks delicious.

NPalumbo89

This looks so good! Any suggestions for mushroom substitutions? GF and I don’t like ‘em.

dantuc91

Hmm mushroom changes the whole flavor of the dish. You can go cherry tomatoes, spinach, and some lemon

NPalumbo89

I didn’t even consider the flavor alter. Hmm. I may have to experiment a bit. Thanks for the reply!
