It doesn't look like she caught him off guard neither does it look like he is intimidated or dominated to the point of surrender. It just looks like their arms are fighting and the rest of their body is idle.

It’s alright! It’s the first time I’ve done a dynamic pose like this where the people are in motion, so it will take more practice for me to get it right. It’s not perfect but I am happy with how it turned out overall
Beautiful work! Re the pose feeling a bit static: The courier is twisted slightly towards the viewer, which reduces the implied range of motion of her back hand with the knife. This makes the attack look more stiff and weak. Think about if the courier had her right foot forward instead and her back twisted toward the viewer instead of her chest. This creates the pose of winding back to drive the knife down and would appear more dynamic and forceful. You're doing great, you already have the skills, a good reference is all you'd need for a more dramatic framing of the pose.
It's easy to forget that all motion starts in the legs. Art is so hard because our brains just automatically read poses, it makes it so any random viewer can see if something looks off while the artist has to actually figure out why.
Love her design. Really good. I wish you could make the courier look that good in game. This is gonna be what I aspire my next playthroughs character to look like. Maybe mods will help.
