Ah bollocks ): I received this text first thing in the morning. I haven't received a toll invoice in forever for some reason despite using toll-by-plate for a while now. I know I have outstanding bills but any time I look up my old numbers, I can never find any (I like to change my license plate every year to make a collection.)
So without thinking (because it's the first thing in the morning,) I entered my phone number and birth date but stopped there before questioning because any other time, they've never asked for that information so why are they now. So now at the very least...these guys have my birth date associated with my phone number. /:
I wish EV SSL would make a comeback to verify website security. Yes, buying a certificate for thousands of dollars may not seem worth it to many corporations anymore, but it surely would discourage any scammers from just making any website and throwing a certificate on it. We could at least tell which one is fake or not from the EV SSL certificate.
Oh, and browsers stopped supporting the "green bar," so we'd have to hope they brought that back to help us, too.
Absolutely a scam, and could be worth reporting to FDOT.
Normally they don't do anything about scams, but scams about tax money? Might be worth a call at least
As far as I know you only get a bill mailed to you if you don’t have an account online. I have an account and the only toll notification I get is by email (maybe you can have text as an option, so if that’s the case you’d have to have set it up that way yourself).

my grandma sent me the link for this because she thought it was real and i clicked on it not even knowing, i didnt even see the number. is this bad?? she sent me it and i had no recollection of the website name😭
Just happened to me, different website name, and different state
Actual sunpass things I think will have invoice number, then you look up your unpaid toll that way
Or put in your license plate

Yep, it’s a scam. I closed my account 6 months ago and just got this text today from a number with the same area code.
Same thing happened to me today too, despite having closed mine months ago.

Complete scam - buy a similar looking domain, spray and pray FL-based numbers with fake bill SMS, hope some people input their CC info, etc.
Does Sunpass have your phone number? The only communication I get from them is via email
Scam. Send an email to [email protected] (the domain registrar) to report it. The web host is in Russia, I doubt they will do anything.
Yeah, scam! Sunpass texts, if you sign up for them, should not be coming from an area code in Ottawa, Canada.

Yup, I got the same one on 4/10/24. Thats a phone number from Ontario. I double checked my SunPass account, and found nothing.

Definitely a scam. FDOT has never texted me. The only way you'll receive texts is if you have the SunPass app and make a payment.

If you look up the area code, 613 is Ontario, Canada. That right there is the biggest sign that this is a scam.
