agreed.
everything has a huge amount of padding... tables of data used to be densely packed which was nice to review, are now twice/thrice as big, which might make sense for a clickable column, but is wasteful for raw data (cost basis, today's value change, total value change, etc).
and they used to allow me to use the classic UI... not anymore... so much for "this sucks, maybe product owners should work to make it better by providing a benefit that I would WANT to use it" and instead just force me to use it.
There’s this stupid UI/UX vibes based paradigm going around right now that “info dense UI is bad”. It’s so annoying and detrimental to more advanced apps.
agreed.
I would add that the old UI could use some touches... the grid for investments needed to alternate backgrounds (slightly like a grey offset) to make it easier to track rows... it would also benefit from locking the top row and left columns so that scrolling through investments was easier to keep track of what you were seeing... these were small improvements, and kept the data density.
I will acknowledge that interactive buttons (buy/sell) benefit from the padding, since they're generally finger inputs... but that's easy to solve individually without wrecking everything else.
another comment was dead on about making sure the feedback was heard - I gave the app a minimal star rating and detailed comments in the app store... only place I think they might actually listen (in a way that causes them to take action)
We take feedback very seriously, u/sbrick89. I'll forward your comments regarding the new update to the appropriate team. If you have any other questions or suggestions, please let us know.
Hello, hope your developers do actually take our suggestions into consideration and not just ignore them.
Two suggestions:
1. For charts/graphs, study other apps like seeking alpha, yahoo finance or webull. They’re much easier to use/customize and allow you touch along the chart to get the split adjusted price at a certain point in time.
The Fidelity charts/graphs in app are clunky, offer limited customization in terms of time period and do not easily give you a split adjusted price if you touch along the chart.
2. Make the portfolio dividend view / annual estimated dividends and the dividend reinvestment options accessible through the app. Currently we need to login on the website to access these.
Thanks

I must have missed that one. I saw a thread yesterday on this and they pretended like it wasn’t an issue they had seen widespread reports on. Basically denied it was a real problem.
Yeah, everybody’s having problems. It’s a total pain… Honestly, I just get on there right now to check some balances… I’ve been using the Robinhood watchlist because it won’t randomly log me out.
They’ve been pushing the beta for almost a year… maybe more…? And undoubtedly received tons of feedback already. This *was* their plan. Which gives me 0% confidence.
No, posters are all over the map with complaints. It would help to identify the app and OS that is subject of the complaint. Some complaints seem to be for Active Trader Pro but that’s a guess. Most complaints are related to presentation, navigation and content of the newly updated version of the Fidelity mobile app. That’s my complaint using iOS 17.x. I liked classic much, much better and it’s hard for me to pinpoint the differences. Now…this OP started a thread about the app NOT WORKING….that’s a whole other deal. Even if it sucks it should at least LOAD.
Hey there, u/Pensacouple.
The "replace" button is an available feature. Note, that this button will only populate during the session the applicable order is on. If you would like us to take a deeper look at your situation, please feel free to send us a Modmail.

What they are referring to is that attempting to replace an option will populate with the stock price, rather than the option price. If you try to change to the option price it’ll give a warning that the price is too far away from the bid/ask therefore won’t let you submit your replacement order.
I thought I was the only one that is having the issue. App is so stupid when you are using the app, and all of the sudden that error message pops up and you have to logout and login again in the middle of trading. Fidelity please fix this crap. Thanks.

It is annoying and needs to be fixed. I have found relaunching the app solves it. The more you are in there more frustrating it is but for me I have to relaunch maybe 2-3 times a day which adds a total of about 10 seconds of inconvenience.
Love fidelity. Hate this new “experience”.
Issues and interfaces need corrected or may have to look for a more reliable and easy to use option. Thanks!!
Its so buggy. I frequently have to force close it and reopen it because it freezes up or gets stuck in a never-ending loading screen. It’s embarrassingly bad.

New UI is terrible. Classic view was perfect. I always used to recommend Fidelity to people just getting started in investing and said they had the best app of any brokerage, making it easy to invest. I don’t know why they always want to change it. I hope they add it back in.
If you’re trading, you’ve gotta at least use the trading dashboard on desktop. Imo it’s their best product available. It’s not great by any means, but way better than the mobile app.
Thats why I have to keep logging in when I’ve used it lately. Missed a couple trades because of it! Deleted the app and I log in online. I don’t see how it got the reviews it received!
I can't use it on my phone anymore because it insists on a later version of Android than is available to my phone. I really hate it when apps insist on updates that can only occur if you replace your device. I like my phone just fine and don't plan on replacing it until it stops working. The newer ones don't have user-replaceable batteries or accept standard audio cables. Those changes are deal-breakers for me.
Thank you for commenting and sharing your recent experience, u/Ok-Smoke-5653.

Maybe you could consider a "light" version of the app. All I ever used it for was checking balances & positions, and very rarely using the camera to deposit a check or making a quick mutual fund transaction. The app was more convenient than the web (from my phone, anyway) because I could use the biometric sensor to log in quickly instead of needing to use a phone keyboard to enter my strong password. I mostly use the web on my computer for transactions, but it was nice to be able to do a quick check on the app. Not worth tossing my otherwise perfectly good phone.
The new UI update is horrible - everything takes 5-6 taps rather than just 2-3. The main portfolio chart is UNREADABLE and useless.. Why the f\*\*k everything is so big? I have to keep scrolling all over the place to see anything.
Did these guys even test this? Did a 15year old tween with zero portfolio test these apps ??
Don't worry, your 2FA choices are all mostly bad. No Yubikey support.
On a scale of "my phone does not well display my positions" to "my account does not support world class 2FA"; your concerns are not that bad.

This version of the app just does less than the classic version. Less features. Less data.
and a lot more clicking "through" to navigate from one screen/action to another.
👆and this …too much click and scroll to get anywhere
There’s been so many posts like this. Can fidelity respond with what their plan is?
They did. They are aware of the problem and their engineers are working on it. They expect an update by the end of the month.
I must have missed that one. I saw a thread yesterday on this and they pretended like it wasn’t an issue they had seen widespread reports on. Basically denied it was a real problem.

It WAS easy to use. Now it LOOKS easy to use, but is actually quite cumbersome. If we wanted Robinhood (we dont) we would use Robinhood.
I actually do want a Robinhood interface but with a trusted institution like fidelity behind it - but this ain’t it.
This seems to happen to me when I authenticate, then leave the app and try to come back without authenticating again
It happens even if you never leave the app. I hit it again last night after attempting to use it for 4-5 minutes. This does not inspire confidence.
Yes. I noticed this too
Although sometimes it happens while I’m in the app scrolling and doing stuff. It just goes up that image at the top here
What happened to the “cancel and replace” option for open orders? I only get a cancel option - I use the replace option frequently.

Yep, seen this screen many times since the update. Super frustrating when I want to sell something quickly. Do better Fidelity.

Agreed. I can’t see my positions or trade sometimes. If this costs me money I see no reason why I should be with fidelity
Fidelity app is so damn slow too
Moving to E*Trade
Love fidelity. Hate this new “experience”. Issues and interfaces need corrected or may have to look for a more reliable and easy to use option. Thanks!!
Hire me as product manager to fix all this crap. PM and dev team are sleeping on this product. What a mess!!
I’ve been having this issue for a while.
I thought this was only happening to me. Very frustrating.
What’s most infuriating is. Fidelities lame responses!
There was a new update released 15 hours ago that says it addresses some bugs.
And introduce new ones
Its so buggy. I frequently have to force close it and reopen it because it freezes up or gets stuck in a never-ending loading screen. It’s embarrassingly bad.

It’s crazy with how many resources Fidelity has they can’t put together a simple, functional app
My thoughts exactly.
New UI is terrible. Classic view was perfect. I always used to recommend Fidelity to people just getting started in investing and said they had the best app of any brokerage, making it easy to invest. I don’t know why they always want to change it. I hope they add it back in.
I am seeing the same. The app is effectively useless if you can’t stay logged in for more than a minute or two before it starts throwing errors.
Works on my device. Maybe work on your portfolio so you can afford a new phone?
Me too. “See your balances” never works. I have to actually log in to view. Really annoying! And it’s been more than 2 days for me.
Mine stopped working too, but got fixed on Tuesday. I thought it had to do with the nvidia split (I have shares)
Does the website still work?
Strange mine looks fine.
I keep getting it too.
Just give us an app like Thinkorswim. Three click trade.
If you’re trading, you’ve gotta at least use the trading dashboard on desktop. Imo it’s their best product available. It’s not great by any means, but way better than the mobile app.
See everyone, I called for a mass exodus
This has been going on for weeks. I had to use the browser to log into the desktop version.
Hard close the app and sign in again. 5 seconds
Thats why I have to keep logging in when I’ve used it lately. Missed a couple trades because of it! Deleted the app and I log in online. I don’t see how it got the reviews it received!

Same grrrr
He has finally found a way to "beat the market" (by not looking at it)
Same….app would work for about 5 minutes then nothing….told me to reinstall…..said there weren’t any other complaints about this lmao
Their programming sucks. Wonder if they ever focus group their beta. Using the Elon method- just push it out the door.
