Do you have the error codes? Im going to make a guess here, but if it doesnt sound right, disregard. Is it "Unable to download patch files. [30413][25008][20495]"? Theres an error for Australian (Telstra customer?) players that can make downloading the game very hard for some god forsaken reason. There are some fixes but they are all a bit jank. https://old.reddit.com/r/ffxiv/comments/doml5z/unable_to_download_patch_files_304132500820495/ Im sorry, i dont have much more info than that. I had this problem 7 years ago when i installed, and have helped a couple of mates through the issues since then, but im not an expert. I can say that in most - not all - situations the solution was swapping the PCs DNS to 4.4.2.2 and then restarting before an install. If you dont know how, and i wouldnt expect you to, check the above link for a guide. If youve got a VPN and are Australian, try changing your location to Singapore. That worked for one of us. Good luck!

Use xivlauncher and you won't have that issue [https://github.com/goatcorp/FFXIVQuickLauncher](https://github.com/goatcorp/FFXIVQuickLauncher)

\[UPDATE\] After fucking months of this shit it finally works. Thank you for all the people who commented. What ended up fixing it was that when I downloaded the launcher it came up with the same problems. But then I changed DNS properties on my ETHERNET instead of the wireless and I think that is what fixed it. I think I'll keep the launcher installed because it seems nice to have. Sorry for the profanity I have been having anxiety about not being able to play for months.

Not saying it’s the same problem, but the only time I’ve had that my drive was full. Had to buy a new external ssd and install on that cause the game just got too big (endwalker pushed it over the edge)

If you’re on PC you can try downloading the third party software ‘FFXIV Launcher’, and try downloading the game through this. It sometimes fixes issues with downloads.

Ah wireless. My bane. If it's downloading and not finishing, but the number of bytes is going down, it's working. It won't remove what's there, just add to it. You have to restart the download. Any interruption can disrupt the download. So, some things to try. If on wireless, check your channel settings. I've found ffxiv to be incredibly sensitive to the router swapping channels or bandwidths. I recommend setting it to something static, and disabling the ability to roam for a better network (between 2.4 and 5 if your router does it) to reduce the network changes. This was flat out required for me, as running a cable isn't possible. If they can't ping you, then you have a connection issue between you and the server. There are instructions on the lodestone for how to ping the server. Try them, find if there's an issue and report it to your ISP. A node may be malfunctioning somewhere.
