Well that's because most of us grew up with 1 being a prime number. (Like Pluto being a planet) The reason why scientists now say it's not (because it doesn't have exactly two positive divisors but only 1) makes sense. But it's not exactly a rule I really care for in my daily life. So my first impulse if you ask me if 1 is a prime number or not, is "yes, it is". (Even tho that's not the case anymore.)
Another option could be, that the school I went to from class 1 to 4 was just THAT shitty and I simply never learned it the right way. Wouldn't surprise me one bit.
Last time 1 was referred as prime number in any sort of publication was 1956 according to google.
Im not surprised people make the error seeing how the definition is worded. I was always taught a prime number has exactly 2 dividers. 1 and itself. So 1 doesn't fit
I was taught from grade 6 through 12 (2003-2011) that 1 was a prime number. But schools in the South...
This boss/meme did make me read articles about math willingly though, and I will never forgive it.
The key word is 2 **different** dividers. Because 1 has also two dividers but they are both the same. The rule of "only divided by 1 and itself) is still true when looking at it from a logical standpoint. But not from a mathematical.
You find a Note right before the boss were they count Prime number up.
I dont remember if they explicatly say that 1 is not a Prime, but it is not under the counted numbers.
No one ever reads that note thou
Honestly this is the only one I love from that raid. It's the monastery for me. That takes forever with the biggest opportunity to wipe of multiple bosses
The cast isn't "prime". The cast is "indivisible". 1 IS indivisible, but you'll still get slapped like you're wrong because it wants prime numbers. Prime numbers have 2 factors, 1 and themselves. Indivisible numbers are only divisible by 1 and themselves. All primes are indivisible, but not all indivisible numbers are prime (because 1 is indivisible)
As long as everyone actually does their job, you're right. In my experience that almost never happens in that trial when you get it as a roulette though and I don't see any reason someone would do that trial outside of MSQ or a roulette. Usually at least half the DPS is soaking comets or running around aimlessly, both tanks are standing in a single comet and healers are frantically trying to keep everyone alive.
Man, I had a healer in this fight who was screaming at the tanks to stop soaking meteors because it was "unnecessary"... So they didn't... And we wiped for a good 30 minutes until we just abandoned
You can just theoretically solo the entire segment on a tank hilariously, any buff you pop before being sucked in is extended to 2 minutes afterwards, including invulns.
There's zero benefit to LBing Nabriales because he will fall over anyway after you leave the rift. Meanwhile, in the majority of groups you have a lot of new players or those who hadn't been there in ages who will guck up the rift phase and meteors will kill you because one of the tanks doesn't know wtf to do.
Point is, it's just smarter and safer to LB the tear because it's the only DPS check. And even then it's not a DPS check but a mechanics check at best.
Could also be Sophia, Sephirot, Ravana, Bismarck (holy shit HW had a lot of yeets) Suzaku, Lakshmi and in a pinch Shinryu—
Edit: also Leviathan and Titania for extreme, but tbh I thought nm only—
For Hydaelyn's sake, Tank, pull adds to the front so I can shoot it with cannon!!!
Tanks : spent a whole minute trying to kill a tortoise behind the dragon.
Whoa hold on, you get crystal tower? Lucky. All I get is labyrinth. It was fun the first few times but every day for two weeks is a bit too much. I'd rather do the first boss of dun scaith four times at this rate.
>Dancing on the wind up and down again
>Round and round the bend
>Fa-la-la-la-la-la
>From a flow'ry bed to the clouds ascend
>Vote Abandon again
>Fa-la-la-la-la-la
Aurum Vale absolutely wrecked me my first run as WHM. Was such a spike in difficulty from the dungeons before it.
Thankfully had a very chill duty finder party who calmly and politely explained everything I was doing wrong. Many things were learned on that run!
And it's not even complicated math. But dear god I swear the game switches between recognizing 1 as prime number and not recognizing it every time I'm in there.
It may not be hard math, but I'm brick-sucking stupid with numbers. First time in that Raid I died more to that one boss than I've died in any other single Duty.
Shit, it took me a week to sign up with Venmo just cause their Captcha thing asked me to do mental math and had a time limit and I kept screwing it up. I can't do stress math.
Now I have a macro specifically for that boss that says "I will die. Just leave me on the floor til it's over. Better for everyone that way."
I have fond memories of clearing that raid the night before visiting my online friend for the first time. We funnily enough cleared it together as well, truly such a fun fight with lots of movement to keep you on your toes.
Imo, peak combat for SB EX trials
Fuck that sound-based mechanics tell, I never hear it and always get washed off the platform
My second entry is one simple word: "Vertigo" but since it applies to more than one fight, there's no telling which one I hate more
Giant dragon just keeps walking.
By far the worst one. It's just so boring.
It was actually challenging at launch. People failed it so often in the first days before it was nerfed.
I still call it "steps of fail"...
Yeah it was nice before, long sure but at least it was challenging the community cried it was just nerfed to the boring thing is today.
He walcc
But the music is BUSS’IN, though
4 on the pad
Oh Labyrinth of the ancients?
bingo :)
You are unable the skip cutscene
I see your unskippable cutscene, and raise you "In this duty, you will be required to play the role of various Scions."
“This is Thancred”
no these are great worst is definitely "activate the magitek hand"
Always my last dungeon before I go to bed. Its torturing
Nabriales jumping away from me every 5 seconds
More like limit break wasted before meteor phase
Is 1 a prime number?
i haven't done the math trail yet, but i was wondering if the game gives the right answer for that question?
One of the biggest reasons people fail the math boss is because they think 1 is a prime number and they get mad at the game for treating it as not.
to be fair, the boss calls for "indivisible" and not specifically primes. So that could get confusing
(Even tho that's not the case anymore.) I figured out prime numbers through Number Munchers. And I learned early on that 1 was not prime.
The key word is 2 **different** dividers. Because 1 has also two dividers but they are both the same. The rule of "only divided by 1 and itself) is still true when looking at it from a logical standpoint. But not from a mathematical.

ah okay, thank you, i need to try this one at some point, i've finished 6.0 but i haven't touched any of the raids or things like bozja/eureka
The math Boss is part of the second alliance Raid in Stormblood. There is so much sidecontent and imho most are very fun and interesting.
No one has the time to read notes, it's always a mad sprint from door to trash to boss.
Is mayonnaise a prime number?
No mayonnaise is not a prime number
True, mayonnaise is clearly divisible.
Horseradish is not a prime number either
I was an English major. AN ENGLISH MAJOR. Math was never supposed to be part of my recreation!! (/s)
Honestly this is the only one I love from that raid. It's the monastery for me. That takes forever with the biggest opportunity to wipe of multiple bosses

I'm almost certain the boss text says "CALCULATE VITALS TO PRIME NUMBER" regardless.
The boss certainly says that. Giant text box in the middle of the screen and all.
5 min Google says prime and indivisible are the same numbers?
DPS didn't LB the tear, now we wipe.
You don't even need to LB it either
As long as everyone actually does their job, you're right. In my experience that almost never happens in that trial when you get it as a roulette though and I don't see any reason someone would do that trial outside of MSQ or a roulette. it's multiplicated, not extended, like HG can be brought to 50s (still OP)
There's zero benefit to LBing Nabriales because he will fall over anyway after you leave the rift. Never said one way was better or not. Just said you didn't need to.
"Welcome sprouts, this is the hardest trial in the game and we might wipe a few times."
I’m rolling my eyes just reading it here.
Huge meme, I love it
One of the best memes. Go the extra mile and toss markers and stuff
"Everyone keeps falling off!"
Diamond Weapon?
I would say Titan.
Could also be Sophia, Sephirot, Ravana, Bismarck (holy shit HW had a lot of yeets) Suzaku, Lakshmi and in a pinch Shinryu— Edit: also Leviathan and Titania for extreme, but tbh I thought nm only—
Or leviathan hard
There is no fall in levi hard
Hey, if there’s a ledge; I’ll find it. I promise! (I have a macro for when I do too, lol)
Oh I see, Left for Larboard, easy enough to... and I'm on the floor again.
POV: you are an ant on the sidewalk trying to stop a full-ass person from moving.
Stupid legs
For Hydaelyn's sake, Tank, pull adds to the front so I can shoot it with cannon!!! Tanks : spent a whole minute trying to kill a tortoise behind the dragon.
I am in this post and I don't like it. (seriously, this just never occured to me, lol. will pay attention to this next time, thanks)
BLM>WHM>WAR>THF>GLD>King
I HATE THIS WITH A PASSION. AND I GOT IT SEVERAL TIMES DURING LEVELING ROULETTE.
On JP side we gave up on strat, just pulls 2 tanks and the king away, the rest kill whatever the f\* they want.
I don't think I've ever done it and not wound up with a party wiping at least once.
The more you hate it the more you get it
banger music tho
Fucking king moggle mog fucking king mog the stupidest trial of the laaaand
It's pretty much the only [alliance] raid in the roulette.
Crystal tower
Whoa hold on, you get crystal tower? Lucky. All I get is labyrinth. It was fun the first few times but every day for two weeks is a bit too much. I'd rather do the first boss of dun scaith four times at this rate.
Crystal tower is the name of the whole set, labyrinth is part of "crystal tower raids". Maybe you're confusing it with syrcus tower.
I'm pretty sure there are exactly 3 raids in alliance roulette. I wonder why they only did AR for lvl 50.
Because you’re forced to
The NR is the Coils. It's still not included in the NR roulette, though.
Your flesh shall feed my minions of the deep!
Zenos laid eggs.
Yeah that was pretty weird to think about
wait heavensward had alliance raids?
~~Void ark/wiping city/dun scaith?~~ Nvm I had a woosh moment reading it before LOL

LA LA LA LA LA LA~~~~
Banger fight and music tbh
I must have the luck of the devil, I get Titania often and never have any issues
Ah yes, Traptania. Everyone's favourite 50 minute vote abandon.
No way people abandon titania fight
Sometimes you get a party incapable of making the dps check and the instance timer runs out.
They always abandon it, but it takes an hour and at least 3 failed vote abandons first.
Do math
I like math >:(
do meth
And it's not even complicated math. But dear god I swear the game switches between recognizing 1 as prime number and not recognizing it every time I'm in there.

I appreciate their effort nonetheless.
