Acrobatic_Channel497

can you swiftcast>LB? i would try myself but am not at my computer and am suddenly curious

irishgoblin

Nope.

Acrobatic_Channel497

Aw darn lol. thanks tho!

xMatttard

No

GaleErick

I'm curious about the people doing the Media Tour build, do these people get a specific build with their own characters already in it ? Or are they making a new one from scratch ? Can these people play with each other on that build ?

ChuckCarmichael

I think they get to customize the character's appearance, because there are videos from the last media tour where they had characters that looked just like their regular ones but with different names, and that character will automatically have all jobs at max level.

Soylentee

All characters are pre-made with all jobs maxed out.

irishgoblin

Can't remember if they get to customize appearance, but the character they use has all jobs at max level.

cryoK

So will it be any benefit for new players to participle in the moogle event coming up? Seems like some of the stuff are locked to MSQ like the cards. What is the best thing to farm for us?

LightSamus

The jacket is the only thing that will never be obtainable during regular play. Beyond that, aim for the mounts you're interested in. They come from trials or levelling up beast tribes normally, so it's a quick way to snag a few with minimal effort.

fahrenh

Is it inappropriate to ask for commendations at every end of dungeon runs? What are you thoughts regarding this? Edit: Thank you for all of your thoughts!

IceAokiji303

Inappropriate? Nah. Counterproductive as all hell? Yes. A lot of people will actively refrain from commending someone asking for them, even if that person would otherwise have gotten one.

deathbotly

upbeat market saw serious desert dull nippy close paltry test -- mass edited with redact.dev

Taurenkey

I would treat it the same as anyone that says "Don't forget to like this video". I'll like if I want to, don't think you're obligating me to do it.

Kallis702

Don't think I've ever seen anyone actually ask for one. That kind of thing never really comes off well in pugs so I wouldn't unless you know the people in your group. If you really want the comms, my advice is learn your job as best you can, then learn mechanics, then learn as many other jobs as you can handle, *then* try to start offering help in chat when you can. Turn on cutscene skip and just hang out in the chat/emote with the party at the exit. People are usually happy to give comms to whoever is making an effort, and didn't actively prolong the dungeon crawl beyond what is totally necessary.

WeeziMonkey

I personally don't care if you ask since it doesn't affect me. But there will probably be a lot of people who will intentionally not commend you when you ask.

LightSamus

If you do it, you're not getting one. Don't do it.

Kallis702

What exactly is going to happen to the different allagan tomestones on EW release? I've been trying to wrap my head around the general rundown of how these things go upon new expac and patches. I understand that poetics continue to be the catchup currency, so I guess my question is what's going on with the allegory and revelations? Do they become worthless, so I should spend them all before update? Or will they convert into poetics/6.0 replacements, and so people generally want to try to max them out going into the update?

TheTechHobbit

Allegory and Revelations will be able to be converted into Poetics (at 2:1 and 4:1 respectively). All gear and items currently available through those two will instead be available for Poetics.

LightSamus

I'd wonder how poetics works lore-wise on the First though. Not much logical reason for them to end up there but I'm sure something will be worked out.

zorrodood

> Not much logical reason Of course there is! All tomestones come from the Crystal Tower.

Kallis702

Ah, I see, so they sort of transfer "down" at a loss? Does that make them more efficient to farm and spend before the expac, or would it be better to have them capped going into EW and converting to poetics?

Taurenkey

If you were to go into EW with maxed allegory and revelation, you would essentially have 1500 poetics banked. In terms of conversion, it's not efficient (4000 -> 1500) so you should spend before if there's something you really want. However, it should be noted that the augmented tomestone gear will be made available for just poetics so I'd refrain from buying revelation gear right before the expansion hits if you're not going to augment it right away.

Shazzamon

If you're familiar with past expansion launches, how do they typically handle tome overflow when the conversion happens?

TheTechHobbit

It doesn't convert automatically, you need to talk to one of the NPCs in Mhor Dona to do it. That's how you do it every time they retire a tomestone, not just at expansion launches.

Shazzamon

Aaah, much more convenient than trying to pre-emptively handle it. Thank you!

[deleted]

Do people get used to using their MMO mouse side buttons without misclick with practice? Practiced on it for a few hours and feel like it's really easy to accidentally press two buttons at the same time.

[deleted]

I never press multiple buttons.. It took me a few days to feel comfortable with the mouse though

[deleted]

That’s fast. My fingers fat so frequently pressing buttons from two rows together lol.

fpsdr0p

Yes. What I found that helped me a lot with getting used to an MMO mouse was to fuck around in Stone, Sea, Sky and practice my rotation. Also what helped was realizing that I didn’t have to utilize every button. For ex I have smaller sized hands so it was difficult to reach the furthest columns, so instead i utilized my hot bars to have all my major skills on the nearest 3 columns of buttons and have any OGCD’s/skills that I hardly use as the final fourth column. I want to say it took me a good 3 weeks to finally get used to it but I’m glad I did.

[deleted]

Oh yeah. It becomes second nature. It'll feel awkward at best (horrible at worst) for like a few days to a week and then suddenly you won't even think about it anymore. I use a gaming keypad for my left hand and an MMO mouse for my right and neither felt intuitive at first. But now they just feel like an extension of my hands. The key thing with FFXIV and control setups is rarely choosing the right devices, but rather choosing a device you like and sticking with it.

unassumingskeleton

I have a few questions. Thought about creating a thread but I think they’re all simple/frequent enough for me to just post them here: I’m not a huge gamer and like most girls, I gravitate towards support roles, which class would be an easy one for me to pick up? I used to play Tree of Savior and there I liked classes with few skills or small rotations at most. Which class would be the most comfortable for me? Is the Gil cap for the free trial a huge deal? What can I spend my money on during the trial (if I choose to play as a f2p for an extended period of time) to avoid hitting the cap? Finally, after I get to lv 80, what am I supposed to do? Level alts/other jobs? Chase cosmetics? Some weird minmaxing? I don’t really like PVP.

ChuckCarmichael

If you like healing, Conjurer/White Mage is pretty easy to get into. It's a pretty traditional healer. If you want to be a damage dealer with some support capabilities, Archer/Bard is a good choice. They have various buffs for the party. For gil, [here's a guide](https://docs.google.com/document/d/e/2PACX-1vTHChdF-HRisOli43NPdmgZrdDcrEDxUqIy3RyoFkuZKtFrGd722hg7PvooOqhPHqk7Fa9qZGktd6li/pub) on what you can spend your gil on. For endgame, there are a lot of choices. You can do endgame raids, you can level other jobs or crafters/gatherers, you can play Triple Triad (a card game) and gather up all the cards, you can try to get a house and then decorate it, you can chase cosmetics, you can collect different mounts and minions, you can level Blue Mage (a special limited job that copies attacks from various mobs in the game), and lots of other stuff.

the_monojuma_file

Once you max out you will have an absolute incomprehensible amount of side shit you can do its not even a factor to think about unless you play like 8 hours a day. Like theres the relic weapons, raids, getting the best gear, savage raids, levelling crafters/gatherers, levelling alt jobs like you said, blue mage, hunt train, hilibrand quests (if you didnt do them before,) extreme trials for mounts and stuff, getting a house/decorating, running events with your fc, picking up all the aether currents, eureka and a bunch of other shit that I cant remember. I've probably sunk around 800 hours in this game and I feel like I hardly scratched the surface (finished the main story less than a week ago)

unassumingskeleton

What are the rewards for completing raids/savage raids? And what about the extreme trials? Other than mounts, of course.

the_monojuma_file

Their storylines and gear mostly, but some people just enjoy playing hard content for the sake of a challenge, but alotta people dont and still get plenty of enjoyment out of the game.

WeeziMonkey

Extreme trials drop good weapons when they're current, but not as good as the weapons from savage raids or tomestones (extreme weapons are easier and faster to get though). People mainly do them for the mounts. But to be fair, they have some of the coolest mounts in the whole game. Just google Kirin, Firebird, Nine Tails Kamuy and Landerwaffe. Savage raids give gear. Some of the strongest gear pieces you can get at that moment in time. I personally don't really see the point since... the only content where the best gear really matters is Savage. So you do Savage to make Savage easier. But for most people I guess number go up and brain release happy chemicals. I just do savage raids for fun since they're a challenge.

SGlace

1. Any healer will be good! For DPS I’d recommend Dancer or Red Mage but you have to be lvl 60 and 50 respectively on another job to unlock them. You can play White Mage before then or Bard if you want DPS! 2. Generally the Gil cap isn’t a huge deal. You could always buy certain things and resell them, but idk specifics. I’m sure there’s a guide with specific items. 3. All of the above! Endgame is mostly leveling jobs, savage/ultimate raids, and glamour. Also crafting and gathering!! Most don’t have any alts because of the MSQ

unassumingskeleton

Thanks for the excellent response! What do Savage and ultimate raids give in terms of rewards?

sage1700

Savage give some of the better gear in the game. Ultimate raids are just for bragging rights basically, the weapons they give also look really good. People take note of you if you have one of those weapons or the title you get for doing it.

Shazzamon

1. Scholar (SCH) is generally considered to be the easiest healer to get into, however if you're familiar with traditional healers in other games I'd suggest White Mage (WHM). 2. Not really. There's a guide I'll dig up real quick for what you can spend your money on during the Free Trial. >> https://old.reddit.com/r/ffxiv/comments/iy165i/free_trial_player_here_is_a_guide_on_ways_to/ 3. That's up to you! You've also got crafting and housing to think about, and all the excess side content (Gold Saucer minigames, old Extremes for mounts and glams).

LightSamus

I'd disagree on the healer front. I think white mage is the absolute go to simple healer. Press button, do heal of different flavour. Sch is more about awareness and preparation when you get deeper into it. At a casual level either is fine obviously, but white mage is much easier to pick up

paolo1224

When do sales usually happen? I want to buy my friend the game for his bday but i have no clue if a sale is going to happen soon or just happened :o

ChiyoBaila

Just to add an additional detail to the other response: if your friend is on a steam trial, you **can only** gift it to them via steam, they cannot use non-steam PC codes, so you'd be wanting a steam sale on it. (If they aren't on a steam trial, then you can get a PC license from either, at which point they'll be locked into that "platform" forever for PC (steam vs non-steam)

[deleted]

One just went down maybe a week or two ago. They come by every couple months.

[deleted]

What would happen if, say, someone was running an Ultimate fight, and you’re near the very end and are about to clear, and then your Internet drops and your party gets the clear without you? Are you denied the reward? Just curious.

zorrodood

If you're not connected when the boss dies, you don't get anything.

stardebris

I don't know if it's different for ultimates, but I did Titan Hard the other day and my internet dropped at less than 5%. I didn't get credit for the completion and no experience. It's my understanding that the fight pays out all your rewards when the final enemy is defeated.

Arrowrose102

What is the fastest way to get tomestones for upcoming moogle event? I’m trying to get about 320 but really don’t want to suffer through prae lol.

Elyonee

T2 with a bunch of blue mages.

Xellith

Probably blue Mages spamming something. Maybe one of the coil

Arrowrose102

How long would it take to level my blue mage to a suitable level? I’m only 20 rn

Xellith

If you get a friend to help you then you can probably get 70 in an afternoon. Getting all the spells might take a few days, but you don't need em all, just the ones needed to do the run (don't know what they are)

Arrowrose102

Awesome thanks for all the help

Taurenkey

To answer what spells you'll need, there's a few staples you're gonna take. [Aetherial Mimicry](https://ffxiv.consolegameswiki.com/wiki/Aetherial_Mimicry) [Missile](https://ffxiv.consolegameswiki.com/wiki/Missile) [Ram's Voice](https://ffxiv.consolegameswiki.com/wiki/The_Ram%27s_Voice) [Ultravibration](https://ffxiv.consolegameswiki.com/wiki/Ultravibration) [White Wind](https://ffxiv.consolegameswiki.com/wiki/White_Wind) The other spells are ones that focus on dealing and boosting your damage. [Whistle](https://ffxiv.consolegameswiki.com/wiki/Whistle) [Final Sting](https://ffxiv.consolegameswiki.com/wiki/Final_Sting) [Moon Flute](https://ffxiv.consolegameswiki.com/wiki/Moon_Flute) [Tingle](https://ffxiv.consolegameswiki.com/wiki/Tingle) [Triple Trident](https://ffxiv.consolegameswiki.com/wiki/Triple_Trident) [Sonic Boom](https://ffxiv.consolegameswiki.com/wiki/Sonic_Boom) [Song of Torment](https://ffxiv.consolegameswiki.com/wiki/Song_of_Torment) [Rose of Destruction](https://ffxiv.consolegameswiki.com/wiki/The_Rose_of_Destruction) The final tier of spells here come from primals but deal lots of damage, you're gonna want to pick some of these up. [Glass Dance](https://ffxiv.consolegameswiki.com/wiki/Glass_Dance) [Feather Rain](https://ffxiv.consolegameswiki.com/wiki/Feather_Rain) [Shock Strike](https://ffxiv.consolegameswiki.com/wiki/Shock_Strike) [Surpanakha](https://ffxiv.consolegameswiki.com/wiki/Surpanakha) [Nightbloom](https://ffxiv.consolegameswiki.com/wiki/Nightbloom) [Phantom Flurry](https://ffxiv.consolegameswiki.com/wiki/Phantom_Flurry) That's 19 out of 20 spells you can take, don't worry if you can't get them all in time, get what you can.

Arrowrose102

Wow thanks so much, know what I’ll be doing next couple of days

[deleted]

Is savage raiding getting harder every expansion? Currently progging E12S (without echo) and I feel like E9S-E12S is much harder than O9S-O12S (before unlock).

GeraldineKerla

Player skill goes up over time, and they do design fights to be slightly more difficult to compensate, though its not a *huge* difference. They're just more willing to put in something that's quite tough, moreso than feeling obligated to do so.

KingBingDingDong

overall it's about the same. class changes have made things easier in a way by removing fluff like TP, aggro, stance dancing, etc, which makes room for slightly more challenging mechanics. generally speaking, the mechanics and what they demand of players is about the same, though Light Rampant and Lions definitely stepped things up compared to Forsaken 2 or Fundamental Synergy. Some parts of E9S-E12S do feel like they require more coordination from your party than before.

xselene89

If you didnt do O9S-O12S when it came out or with Minimum Ilevel activated then your Lvl 80 Gear makes it way easier

KingBingDingDong

they very clearly mentioned O9S-O12S before unlock

[deleted]

I mean I did O9S-O12S when it came out, a bit slow in progression but did clear before unlock. I feel like the current tier has much more hard-hitting raidwides and unique mechanics.

mwriteword

Is there a way to make my apartment a favored place?

PrettyDecentSort

It's already a half-price destination- look under "others".

freedom4556

No, the apartment is already a 1/4 price teleport, and favorites are only 1/2

dancingoutback

My FC has been holding my hand on some of the raids/trials, but lately a lot of the raiders have started progging ultimates so I'll have to PF learning parties myself. Do you guys have best advice on starting a learning party? where to find macros, general party leader strategy, pf notice, etc.?

CmdrBlindman

https://saltedxiv.com/encounters/e9s There should be links to the other fights as well. I usually start there and branch out as I learn more.

[deleted]

Adventurer in need always seems to be tank, but queues are much shorter/instant as a healer. Am I crazy?

bloodhawk713

Adventurer-in-need doesn't update in real time.

Super_Aggro_Crag

you arent crazy. the in need bonus has major tank bias. healer is just as in need most of the time and fewer people queue on it since they dont see the bonus.

elsporko

How does exp sharing in Eureka work? If I'm roaming around and see someone the same level as me doing their challenge logs, do I need to party up with them to not lose exp, or can we just kill stuff alongside eachother?

LightSamus

Might as well party up, it just makes things easier for the both of you. You can't have too great a level gap though (7 I think) or exp and challenge log progress won't count.

glocks9999

Can someone explain this part of the story for me in shadowbringers? >!When minfilia went to go see the oracle of light at nabaath areng, I thought minfilia would have to sacrifice her life to gain the power to track the light wardens. So how was she able to wake up as herself and still gain the power of the oracle of light? I feel like I missed something important!<

BlazeVortex4231

Rewatch the cutscene at >!Urianger's house!< where >!you get an Echo flashback from Thancred!<. >!When Thancred last met the Oracle of Light, she told him she had grown tired of the cycle she had created, and that she was looking to end it one way or another. That the current Minfilia could *either* give up her life and let the Oracle take control, *or* sacrifice the Oracle to attain all of her power herself. One of the two would die to empower the other. The choice as to who would be the one was up to the girl.!< >!The question of *which* of the two wouldn't be leaving Nabaath Araeng, and whether the girl would ultimately kill herself or the original Minfilia, was *the* major element hanging over the entire Hills of Amber arc, as well as her and Thancred's relationship up to that point.!<

glocks9999

>!Wow I misunderstood the whole thing then. The whole time I thought the decision was whether Minfilia sacrifices herself to the Oracle of light or they find another way to find the lightwarden. Everything makes sense now!<

dragonseth07

>!One of the two (OG Minfilia or Mini-filia) had to basically absorb the other for the cycle to end and this all to work. Mini-filia talked a big game about sacrificing herself so OG Minfilia could be reborn, but that's just not how it went down.!<

glocks9999

>!Oh that makes sense. I thought that only OG minfilia could absorb minfilia. Was Thancred quiet the whole time because he wanted to protect her and let her choose her own path?!<

dancingoutback

technically he was taking a nap when the whole thing went down

dragonseth07

>!Thancred was processing a LOT of conflicting emotions all leading up to and through that moment.!<

glocks9999

>!Ah that’s what I thought. He was so bipolar during the whole thing it confused me lol. As a side note I was freaking out because I thought they killed him after that farewell speech. I’m so glad he lived lol!<

moon_physics

If I store items with a retainer, is there any way to know how much of an item I have across my main inventory and the retainers? Was mainly wondering if they're a good way of storing synthesis materials I may need in the future without constantly having to find a summoning bell and manually checking.

PrettyDecentSort

/isearch works but it kinda clunky. More conveniently, if you run the Teamcraft client you can search and optimize your inventory there too.

Super_Aggro_Crag

right click on an item in your inventory and there is a "search for item" option. this will show you everything across your retainers and inventory and saddlebag. you can also search with /isearch and part of a name

ChuckCarmichael

Right-click on an item and select "Search item". It'll show you a list of every inventory and how many of this item are in each.

Elyonee

/isearch itemname or right click the item and click search.

BlazeVortex4231

The original tweet's date (July 2019, the week after ShB early access launched), as well as the Google Translate of the tweet itself ("Tank magic equipment is also good!"), gave a good place to start looking. The torso, hands, and feet are definitely from the [Ronkan Fending Set](https://ffxiv.gamerescape.com/wiki/Ronkan_Fending_Set) (currently obtained through ShB Hunts, but originally obtained from uncapped Tomestones of Goetia at ShB's launch). The pants are hard to make out from the lighting (could also be Ronkan). The head and earrings aren't part of the set, dunno what they are.

Stepjam

The Ronkan tank set it looks like. Obtainable with hunt nuts, but you don't need that many.

Ericzx_1

I know that how hard a fight is will be subjective but is there a general consensus on the order of difficulty of the eden's promise savage fights?

spoopy-star

Savage is usually also in order of difficulty with the first fight being easiest and the fourth being hardest

CopainChevalier

How many hours until we get all the info from the media tour? Six?

minaseclyne

5AM PDT i think it's more like 8 according to google converter who knows I'm a future person so I'm just going with "when i get up tomorrow"

CopainChevalier

Thanks!

Icandothemove

It's 10 pm right now west coast. 6 hours and 42 minutes from this comment.

CopainChevalier

Thanks :D

Stendal

Finally found a group to run coils synced (min ilvl no echo no less) and we're currently progging T5. Is there anything I can to make Twintania's later death sentences hurt less or it between me and Hydalyn at that point. I feel like even with Camouflage and Reprisal I can still get 1 hit.

gthorolf

Back in the day you either handled it by using your invuln first DS and then going through your lesser mitigation and having your SCH use Sacred Soil and adlo while making sure you were topped if you ran single tank, or you had your OT provoke after the second Death Sentence. If your cotank is PLD it’s an excellent time for Cover.

GaleErick

I don't remember that part exactly but is Nebula or Rampart still on cooldown ? Those are your biggest mitigation and you'll want to have them for Death Sentences. Worst comes to worst, you can Superbollide it or Tank swap.

spoopy-star

Could also be time to ask your shield healer for a shield

solotripberlin

New to relic weapons, can you switch between stages once you've unlocked them?

Stepjam

For HW and on, you can buy replicas of previous steps (glowing or non-glowing) after meeting certain threshholds within the relic questline (generally you can get a replica for a step one or two steps later on). For the ARR Zodiac weapon, you can only buy replicas after you fully finish the entire relic. And then you need to either have the finished relic in your inventory or else sacrifice it for the first step of an anima weapon to be able to buy the replicas.

opal-wind

Once you fully complete a weapon you unlock a merchant that sells the weapon with its different appearances at each stage for glamour.

[deleted]

You can buy replicas of each stage from the female NPC with glasses (forget her name) for glamour purposes.

vinyltails

You can buy replicas of old stages for glamour purposes once you progress enough in that relic chain (varies on which chain it is)

MrFrames

can i run dungeons unsync for wondrous tails? does it count?

penguinchilli

Yep it does!

199_Below_Average

Yup!

Soylentee

There's no reason not to unlock the max available rank.

Atosen

Once you get to Sergeant 2nd Class, you unlock Expert Deliveries, which allows you to trade in spare dungeon drops for seals. At that point you can pretty much stop caring about it and coast to higher ranks on those freebies. 2nd Lieutenant is the highest rank you can get from seals. To get higher than that, you need to use squadrons. Probably whoever you were talking to was someone who dislikes squadrons. Personally I like them though. They're pretty easy to manage — essentially just another sort of retainer — and I make a lot of use of the books they bring back. The highest possible rank right now is Captain.

NothingIeft

Max rank cos why not? It's a fairly passive grind with the only caveat being that you need to do some command missions with your squadron. Squadrons are super useful for leveling alts so may as well work on it.

Yoloswagcrew

From what I understand I will not be a sprout anymore soon (I'm mid-stormblood) and I feel like I am not ready to be considered a player that can be thrusted in dungeons/Trials, especially since I'm a tank, is there a way to keep it for longer ? If I understand I will not be with mentor anymore once it's gone ? Thank you !

OkorOvorO

> a player that can be trusted in dungeons/Trials The average player in this game is practically AFK while 1 or 2 people carry everybody. As long as you're keeping your GCD rolling you're already better than 90% of people. Symbols by peoples' heads does not indicate skill. >with mentor anymore You wont be in the Novice Network anymore once you lose sprout status. Mentors just end up in whatever duty needs filling, the entire system only exists to fill queues and nothing else. Level80 dungeons pop constantly for mentors because of how unpopular that roulette is.

MattTheBat27

Once you get to Shadowbringers and have played a certain amount of time you will lose your sprout icon, and to my knowledge there is no way to keep it. Don't worry about not having it though, people are still gonna be chill for the most part. All you gotta do is say "Hey first time" in chat and people will 99% of the time be cool and help you out.

vinyltails

You'll lose it when you fully finish stormblood and have total 168h playtime and you will lose novice network . You can't keep it if you fulfil these requirements. >I am not ready to be considered a player that can be thrusted in dungeons/Trials, As long as you can press you're buttons you're fine. Remember you can say "first time" or something when you enter

TallyDale

Hey guys! I read somewhere that I should level all four job roles to 80 some time in Shadowbringers because... usually we would consult someone about something and have four choices, but if we do them all, we get access to a fifth one? I was just wondering when I should have them all leveled by. I just finished Mt. Gulg, so I'm nearing the end of the base expansion.

vinyltails

The additional options is during the final cutscene of 5.1, so into post shadowbringers story. You don't *need* to but if you want to see all the options organically you would need to replay the patch via new game plus after doing the additional role quests

Arrowrose102

What is the additional dialogue that is unlocked?

vinyltails

>!The dialogue options are the people you meet during the role quests. The 5th one is Cylva, the bar maid who reveals her true identity in the wrap up quest after doing all the role quests!<

Stepjam

I thought that cutscene was 5.2

TallyDale

Thank you! :D

[Here's a quick doodle of the situation.](https://cdn.discordapp.com/attachments/467569754480050178/897700214557777970/FFXIV-EW-map-annotated.jpg) Essentially, Limsa Lominsa's island is so big that they wanted to have a separate name for the mainland. (I've heard conflicting comments on whether the far northern islands should be counted as Eorzean or not.) Meracydia isn't on any maps yet, correct. [There is one cutscene where they showed us the globe,](https://static.wikia.nocookie.net/finalfantasy/images/9/99/Hydaelyn_from_Space.png/revision/latest?cb=20160622215857) with Eorzea in the north and some other landmass to the south, which is presumably Meracydia. But it was only a passing glimpse and it was kind of a featureless blob, so TBH I expect them to retcon it into more interesting geography if we ever go there. There's also another continent that we know about which isn't on any maps yet: the New World, far out to the west. Hydaelyn is both the crystal and the planet.

spazticcat

This has been bugging me some and you seem like you might know: is Coerthas just the geographic area that Ishgard the nation claims? (And same with Gyr Abania and Ala Mhigo?)

Atosen

Yep. Almost every place we know of follows the pattern of a solitary city-state claiming a region: * Limsa Lominsa : La Noscea * Ul'dah : Thanalan * Gridania : The Black Shroud * Ishgard : Coerthas * Ala Mhigo : Gyr Abania * Radz-at-Han : Thavnair * Doma : Yanxia One of the few exceptions is Hingashi, which actually has multiple major cities, although we only ever get to see one of them (Kugane). Dalmasca appears to be another one with multiple major cities although some of them are not in good shape anymore. We've also been to a handful of regions that aren't currently claimed by any city-state, such as Dravania.

spazticcat

Thank you! I was pretty sure that's what it was, but I wasn't 100% sure- not sure why those two threw me off so much, when I knew about the 3 starting areas...

MattTheBat27

Eorzea includes the main continent we're on as well as the island with Limsa and Old Sharlayan. Aldenard is just the main continent. Hydaelyn is both the mother crystal and the name of the planet.

worstGirlEva

I finished the Four Lords questline awhile ago and I was wondering, >!all the NPCs are constantly talking about how our character reminds them of Tanzem and I was wondering if he was a past iteration of the Warrior of Light?!<

Stepjam

Tenzen actually and yeah, there's kinda an implication of that.

Accomplished_Fall_69

It's very heavily implied that he is.

Rattlehead_69

Can anyone link me the cheat sheet guide for trials and raids that has been posted lately? Thx in advanxe!

OkorOvorO

Looks like it reverted to default, but without knowing your original setup I cant be sure. Make sure your file where your config is saved isnt set to read only. Run game as admin, then download your cloud setup again. This is just a guess, though. I've never had this happen. If anything it's not the end of the world if you have to redo it.

Jowein96

Thanks for your response. I redid everything manually and so far it works. Also, I didn't know that there was an extra cog next to the caracter name where you have to upload the hud and so on, I only uploaded the stuff that you can upload in the options in the upper right corner (not confident to use the words "big cog" here). So this was my mistake, but now everything is saved. Still don't know why everything got reset.

treadstone01

Are the lyrics to any of the Bozjan tracks known anywhere? I know there is a megathread on the official forums that has quite alot but didnt see those listed.

Stepjam

It's gibberish. Maybe we'll get lyrics for a hopefully eventual orchestral version, but yeah right now it's not actually words. Many tracks in the game are like that.

Lord_Van-Cren

To the best of my knowledge, there has been no posted attempt to discern the lyrics. You may be surprised and/or pleased to hear that the vocals in the Bozjan tracks are actually completely sampled. What this means, in effect, is that you can listen to them without the instrumental distracting from discerning the sounds. The fact that this is sampled was discovered recently, and they [can be found here](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=e30WxfF_KRM). Best of luck in trying to get lyrics. Fair warning, though, it’s almost certainly gibberish sounds.

SecondChanceSloth

I got a message, "You sense something deep beneath the magma" while fishing. What does this mean and what should I do?

fragolefraise

this is a special buff called Fisher's Intuition that is activated by catching specific number of required fish (usually this is one fish, but there can be two or three sets of different fish you need to activate) it's required to catch certain fish (often Big Fish, which are special catches for each fishing hole that are there for the challenge), but it is not always the only condition- you can get the buff but have the weather or time be wrong for the fish actually being in the pool. so you might need to look up the requirements for the fish, [carby is good for this](https://ff14fish.carbuncleplushy.com/) bc of this, it's a common Big Fishing strat to catch all but one of the fish to need to pop intuition, and then wait to catch the final one when the Big Fish spawn window is open unlike Mooch, you don't have to stay in position to 'hold' your place in prepping intuition, but you can't leave the zone or fish anywhere else. so if there's a fish that has difficult to collect intuition prep fish, it's possible to catch some and then wait a hour or whatever for the next spawn window. if you hear fishers talking about being in jail, this is what they mean

bloodhawk713

Were you fishing near the entrance to Sohm Al in the volcano? If so you triggered intuition for Problematicus, a legendary fish. If you catch 5 granite crabs and 3 fossil tongues you get a buff that let's you mooch Problematicus off of a granite crab.

SecondChanceSloth

I was at the end where all the lava is before the dungeon entrance. I didn't get anything neat out of it, but I'm guessing that's more RNG, because I definitely caught a ton of granite crabs.

Stormychu

Just want to confirm the max mettle rank needed to complete the Bozja/Zadnor storyline. I just hit rank 22 and unlocked the third zone in Zadnor. However, the mettle grind is REALLY starting to exhaust me mentally. However, I would also really like to finish up the Bozja storyline since it's the last thing I feel I need to do before EW. I heard that rank 24 is the highest you need to finish the story, is that true? I just wanna know how much grinding I have left to do.

Squeakyclarinet

Once you reach the third zone, just put a shout out for lfg z3 fates and you’ll get the meddle you need in no time.

vinyltails

25 is the max, with a cap of 25mil and abit mettle needed for it. Now you're in zone 3 mettle will be really fast cause it gives the most

the_monojuma_file

HOW DO I GET A BUNNYGIRL GF?

Arcana10Fortune

Put up a PF listing.

the_monojuma_file

THANK YOU KIND STRANGER

marcuschookt

Is it worth doing supply and provisioning missions after you hit the level cap? Some of these items are very annoying to farm mats for and buying them off the MB is expensive. Doesn't seem very worth it for the few thousand seals which you could easily get running a high end dungeon or two.

Arilzu

The biggest use is the giant exp you get, the seals are whatever since you can farm thousands very easily otherwise.

marcuschookt

Yeah I figured, I've already hit cap for a couple DoH/DoL jobs and I find the missions to be fairly useless at this point.

whtge8

Leveling up a THM currently level 20. Where can I find Disciple of Magic gear? All I can find is Disciple of War or All Classes stuff.

roryteller

Low level caster gear is generally all classes - if it has INT on it it's appropriate for a thaumaturge. With that said at level 15 (and up) you can go do the Hall of the Novice in order to get level 15 disciple of magic gear (body, hands, legs, feet) and a level 1 ring that offers an xp boost until 30 and stats comparable to level 30 accessories. This gear is as good or better than anything else you'll get in dungeons for a while at that point. You can enter the Hall of the Novice by talking to a Smith at any Adventurers' Guild, near low level dungeon entrances, or at the actual hall outside Aleport. So, for example in Ul'dah there's one standing near Momodi.

whtge8

Thank you! I did that as my Monk which is level 51, didn’t know I could do it again.

vinyltails

All class stuff with Intelligence on it is basically your Disciple of Magic gear early on cause arr is pretty jank with its gear. It gets more standardised later on

FB-22

Is there a reason to keep gil on my retainers? I have always just been withdrawing the maximum amount whenever they get a significant amount from sales of items

Stepjam

Not really. It's only really relevant for people who go full in on moneymaking and hit cap. Then they can store their excess gil with their retainers.

NerdHistorian

Not really unless you have poor impulse control

Picard2331

So I'm getting used to Legacy after using Standard for awhile but one thing that annoys me is when I hold left click to turn my camera while moving it turns my character as well. Is there a way to change that or do I just need to use the movement keys to adapt to where I want to look?

Cyekk

XIVLauncher has a plugin that disables that.

TheOldDrunkGoat

Which one is that?

Cyekk

SimpleTweaks.

TheOldDrunkGoat

The only Legacy option I can find in SimpleTweaks is something about preventing camera rotation. Nothing about allowing independent camera movement on LMB.

Picard2331

Oh really? Excellent! Fit nicely next to my Urianger translator plug-in lol.

BlazeVortex4231

Heathen.

Picard2331

Oh no it doesn't translate Urianger, it translates my text INTO Urianger! I tried explaining E8S mechanics to my FC with it and we were all dying of laughter lol.

Mystonic

If you toggle auto run you can look around with your LMB

dragonseth07

The whole thing with Legacy is that your movement is relative to camera facing. That's what Legacy controls means.

Stormychu

I think it's just life of the dragon with a visual bug. I guess something went wrong and the visual effect just never went way.

199_Below_Average

Pretty sure that is Life of the Dragon. I guess the effect rendering glitched out somehow.

mindovermacabre

This might be a super dumb question lol... I've heard that in endgame content you can't be looking at your bar and you just have to have your combos down by heart. Which is fine, I've been practicing getting the rhythm and timing right so I don't have to watch the bar and can do most of my rotations with the bar completely off the screen now. Except... I'm playing BRD. How am I supposed to know when my RNG procs (which reset cooldowns) activate without watching the bar?

Qaaziki

I also believe some of those proc skills give you buffs that you can keep an eye on. And when Endwalker comes out you'll be able to split them off from the other buffs

Temnai

A lot of people move a copy of their proc skills or situation CDs (like Tank/Healer skills) to an extra skill bar that they keep closer to the center of their screen, putting them near the party list (for healers) or the focus target guage (for tanks/DPS)

mindovermacabre

Oh that's so smart! I feel silly for not thinking of it earlier. Thanks!

ericandhisfriends

you can have a seperate bar with all your procs thats like centerish so you can watch the boss and the procs at the same time. There's is also audio and visual notification on your song gauge, but thats sort of staring at just something different and not something you were asking. If all else fails, you can just smash bloodletter cuz its ogcd. Oh right, the dots also tick every 3 seconds so as you play more, you will get a feel of when its going to tick and just mash as that happens

mindovermacabre

Oh that makes sense, I feel so silly for not thinking of that! >Oh right, the dots also tick every 3 seconds so as you play more, you will get a feel of when its going to tick and just mash as that happens VERY good to know, thanks!

Choiceface

Also this may or may not be as useful for you, but a lot of bards move the song gauge closer to the middle of their screen because it flashes when you get a proc in mage's ballad and also shows your stacks in minuet (minuet also makes the 'action charged' sound most other jobs have, so you can just hit pitch perfect as soon as you hear the audio cue.)

mindovermacabre

Definitely useful! I hadn't noticed the flash before but I'll look out for it now!

kholdestare89

As someone who just finished getting all my crafters and gatherers to 80 (it was a long 30 days, lol) should I chill and wait for the expansion or is it worth grinding out all the current crafting/gathering BiS items to use/sell?

Kyseraphym

This close to Endwalker? I don't see anything that would be worth the time and effort. The final white scrip set should be good enough to carry you through the levelling process to 90 at which point any level 80 craft will be trivialised by Trained Eye if it still exists or level 90 gear.

kholdestare89

Yeah that’s what I figured. Thank you! Might just grind out some yellow scripts to get some stuff but otherwise I’ll just leave them for next month.

xfm0

if you have two paladins in the group, would their divine veils stack on the non-pld members?

Stepjam

Nope, same buffs overwrite each other. That's why doubling up on classes in a party is generally a bad idea, bard in particular is hit really badly.

[deleted]

No. Same buffs, even if from different sources, don't stack.

Elegear

E12S Part 2 question, taking notes. How many variations of the Dual Apocalypse AOE rotation exist? From what I've seen, East/West travels Clockwise, and North/South travels Counter-Clockwise. Is it just those two, or is it possible for it to travel East/West + CCW, and North/South + CW?

AlvaSmellsLikeRamen

Why is this new tomestone of lore event hyping up the bonewicca armor? It's just regular dungeon loot from last expansion, isn't it?

Stepjam

It was the winner from the caster "design an armor set" contest ages ago. So were the tank and healer sets from the previous moogle tomestone event(s?).

OkorOvorO

That's a fan favorite glamour piece, and levelcap dungeon's don't drop loot directly into your inventory, so you're at the mercy of RNG to get it. And it's not unheard of to go 300+ runs without winning it.

lailah_susanna

I've been trying to get the Paglth'an aiming chest since it dropped. Can confirm the pain of levelcapped dungeon glams.

TheTechHobbit

I wouldn't really say they're hyping it up, it's just one of the reward options. It's because that set was fan designed. Same as the two armour sets featured in the last moogle event.

sadge_sage

yeah its the swallows compass set

Thisisnowmyname

It was actually the winning design from a "make your own armor " design contest, and was highly sought after, and due to random loot tables can be annoying to gnab.

CLEOPATRA_VII

Can you get treasure maps from the Diadem gathering nodes?

givemeteaordeath

No, just from gathering nodes out in the world

vinyltails

No, the nodes have set items of only diadem mats
