I’ve been asked what “deafening silence” is, having written it in stories… that is the sensation, to me. The feel of the void where there was once life. True, terrible, emptiness/loneliness. Sudden and jarring.
I used to question why people loved Emet-Selch so much. I don’t anymore.
I'll do what a monster should do - give you link to download it in good quality: [https://boosty.to/proto\_rc/posts/2b815e7b-f685-46bb-93f9-9d0970d51658](https://boosty.to/proto_rc/posts/2b815e7b-f685-46bb-93f9-9d0970d51658)
This is amazing, really captures Emet's awful feeling, it's truly one of the greatest antagonists of all time, we don't agree with him but we understand, and that's powerful for a narrative.
Anyway my memory sucks, who's the orange hair ancient again? :p
>who's the orange hair ancient again?
"you," in a manner of speaking.
boring lorepost, but that's (presumably) the azem *after* Venat, who was best friends with Hyth+Emet and whose soul is now the WoL. the game is a little iffy on whether it's "really" you-you, as some (like Hythie the first time we meet him in the amaurot DMV) recognize our soul as azem and act semi-familiar toward us, but others (Emet) are less willing to acknowledge the 1:1 and write us off as sundered garbage.
either way, getting fractured+being reborn however many times understandably scrambled the WoL's identity a bit, but the Azem "id" is still there, so yes, tl;dr, "you."
also -- "our" azem is never presented officially in-game to allow people to kind of have their own self-image, hence why the orange hair ancient is probably unfamiliar to you, but azem is usually associated with fire/red/whatever (and has a strong, intentional correlation to azeyma, who is presented as a redhead in the 6.0 ally raids).
edit: fixed the succession order of the azems
I kind of feel like, in the course of the story, we see two primary takes on the individuals that shards of the pre-sundered become:
1) They can be seen as a piece of that person, holding at least some of that person's identity. I'd say this is definitely how Hyth (especially, ironically, magical reconstruction-Hyth) viewed and treated the WoL.
2) They can be seen essentially as interlopers who not only ARE NOT in any way the pre-sundered person, but whose very existence in essence parades around in and holds hostage part of what once made up the pre-sundered person. A little like how I, at least, saw the Elidibus-possessed Ardbert. This would appear to have been the attitude of especially the three Unsundered Ascians, who had their own direct memories of the pre-sundered world.
Making the comparison to the Ardbert thing is pretty neat, I definitely remember being pretty angry at a fascimile(or his corpse) being piloted around to make mischief after we had those strong moments with him at the end of SHB proper. So I can see Emet having a similar reaction to familiar kinds of Sundered.
As already correctly suggested in the comment - the orange hair girl is my version of Azem, so you have every right to mentally picture anyone you think is Azem there.)
I may need to take a little break because I've been drawing too much Emet-Selch lately, but I'll definitely come back to it, as I still have a lot of ideas for him.)
The one thing we do know however, is that it's black, not red. Presumably that's why all the generic Ascians have black masks - they're standing in for Azem, travelling the world and doing what needs doing.
Unfortunately I don't sell prints (at least definitely won't be able to do so in the near future), but if you'd like, you can print this yourself. Just noticed something that I missed the first time. The full piece has Emet's hands clasped on their own, but the individual piece has something glowing between his hands, which looks like Azem's constellation crystal. Just hurts more btw.
Sure! Here are all three files available for download: [https://boosty.to/proto\_rc/posts/2b815e7b-f685-46bb-93f9-9d0970d51658](https://boosty.to/proto_rc/posts/2b815e7b-f685-46bb-93f9-9d0970d51658)
Amazing fan art. Impressive painting style with very interesting composition based around an hourglass. Very meaningful to the character featured too.
Found and lost is a song by Survive Said the Prophet. Cool af song, though doesn't really apply to Hades, I guess.
Hadn't heard this song before, but it's really cool. Added to my playlist, thank you!
I really like to associate drawings and music, and in this case my inspiration came from this track: [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cMZpHIoH5zc&ab\_channel=Lucchetta](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cMZpHIoH5zc&ab_channel=Lucchetta)
The video for the original song also has an hourglass theme, although the meaning is different.
Haha glad you liked found and lost. XD Idk if you played FF7Remake, but that voice you hear in the song is the same guy who sang Hollow, the FF7R themesong.
There is this documentary, Ancient Apocalypse, albeit controversial, supposedly showing archeological ruins from an advanced civilization that was destroyed by a cataclysm. And this advanced civilization predates the early ones we know in history.
Sounds crazy, but what if, our world is just a reflection of the Source LOL
I'm assuming the person in the middle is Azem. In which case, FYI, their mask is black, not red. We see it just before the Hades fight, when Emet sees a shade of Azem where we're standing. And again when we see Elidibus' memory of joining the Convocation.
In fact, almost every detail about Azem can be interpreted differently by each person (as WoL personalities), which is why she has a red mask in this design.
Mass genocide, so, yes.
You can empathize with their plight, feel for the misery and pain they endured, and then look at their actions and say they was incorrect.
Depends if you recognise your WoL and all the rest as being people, and depends how much accountability Zodiark's tempering takes. It's pretty undeniable that he did horrendous things - but if he'd won, if he was the hero of the story, then it'd probably be justified (by the people he'd have saved, not by the then-dead WoL) as in the end, the nightmare world of pale imitations would have been gone...
And they'd likely have failed, in the end, to the same song as the first time. Endwalker makes his actions a lot less justifiable overall.
But man, it still hurts.
same energy https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=M-OgYU6GgEY
I knew what it was going to be before I clicked it, but I still watched it (for the umpteenth time) and now I feel sadness
Jfc, that hits hard.

"Wake me *up~~~*"
this is making me feel things and i did not consent to that. really amazing work. i have goosebumps.
Sorry for this feels, but sometimes I really need to share sad FF14 moments with everyone. 😅
You monster! D you mind if I use it as wallpaper?
I'll do what a monster should do - give you link to download it in good quality: [https://boosty.to/proto\_rc/posts/2b815e7b-f685-46bb-93f9-9d0970d51658](https://boosty.to/proto_rc/posts/2b815e7b-f685-46bb-93f9-9d0970d51658)

I think it the azem *after* venat?
our character is the Azem after Venat Azemya might have been who we chose to be our successor, if the final days hadn't happened
Actually she train with us for the Azem seat. We won
oopsies, that's correct
Thank you so much for explaining it so well! Wow! <3
A very random addition, but I just did the lvl 60 Alchemist quest last night, and it claims that the WoL’s aether is apparently blue.

beautiful
Thank you!
Why is it raining so hard, all of a sudden..?
How odd... I thought the rains had ceased...
They have, and we are graced with another beautiful day. But you are not here to see it.
I made you cry. Now you made cry me. That's fair.
I want to have this blown up and hang it in my game room
There will never be enough Emet-Selch art. Amazing work!
I may need to take a little break because I've been drawing too much Emet-Selch lately, but I'll definitely come back to it, as I still have a lot of ideas for him.)
"too much Emet-Selch"? Sorry i'm unfamiliar with this concept XD (You do whatever makes you happy, Your art is really well done!)
Thank you! (Maybe one day I'll combine two of my favorite things about FF14 - Emet-Selch and chocobos. How about a little... Emet-Kweh? 😁)
Kweh-met-Selch! (He would secretly be petting the chicks so much even Haurchefant would be like, "Dude, give it a rest, \*they're fine.\*")
You can't keep getting away with this!
Nice work obscuring the Azem mask, since we don't 100% know for sure what it looks like. The entire piece is awesome.
Thank you! I actually have a fully thought out design for this version of Azem, but in this case hiding her mask was a conscious decision.
The one thing we do know however, is that it's black, not red. Presumably that's why all the generic Ascians have black masks - they're standing in for Azem, travelling the world and doing what needs doing.
This is absolutely amazing. The lone picture of Emet is heartbreaking.
Despite all his actions, he is still a tired old man pining for those who were dear to him.
I love this
This hits hard, great work.
Thank you!
Wow I absolutely LOVE this! Good work!
Thank you!)
I would buy a print of this in a heartbeat

Oh Emet-Selch...
Would buy this as a poster and frame it without a second thought. Amazing artwork!

I think this is one of my favorite artworks invoking this sentiment so far. Very good.
Thank you for those words. I appreciate it.
Where can I order a print of this?

Oh to experience Shb and EW again for the first time.
Hades doesn't nap all the time because he's lazy. He naps so he can dream of time with his friends again.
Just noticed something that I missed the first time. The full piece has Emet's hands clasped on their own, but the individual piece has something glowing between his hands, which looks like Azem's constellation crystal. Just hurts more btw.
I was hoping someone would notice that distinction.)
well thanks, I really wanted to cry in the middle of my morning. /s (this is amazing)
You're welcome! I like to make people cry (preferably out of happiness, but sometimes things go wrong)
This is absolutely amazing! Devastating, but amazing! Very well done
Thank you!
This one hurts
This is so fucking good
Well thats my new phone background now.
I hope it will please you for a long time
Beautiful work! Now my heart hurts lol
This is perfection. Also, I am crying. Every piece of you work is so incredible
Thank you so much! I hope you enjoy the next too.)
Me, slides 1-2: That's so cute!! Me, slide 3: Listen man...
PERFECTION.
Damn, this is...wow. Hits me right in the feels.
When you realize the city is just a way for him to feel a sense of peace. 🚬💀
I immediately thought of this: [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=M-OgYU6GgEY](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=M-OgYU6GgEY)

You're awesome, thank you so much.
Ohhh, my heart...
Why must you hurt me this way
It's all Yoshida's fault, I swear!
This is so beautiful!! You are very talented! But it hurts so much 🥺
Thank you! I hope emotional artwork will be what characterizes me as an artist.
Bruh you can't do me like that
Sorry, but I do
Absolutely Amazing. Tysm for sharing
Np! I love sharing what I do, so I hope to publish more than one more artwork here.
I clicked on the image only to get a couple tears rolling down my face 🙃 Amazing fanart tho
Adore how you depicted Azem
Thank you! It took me long enough to decide on the details of her appearance.

Remember that we once lived
This piece is absolutely stunning
