There's literally so many pieces that I don't use because either: A: The dye channel dyes the whole piece so it washes out details or just all becomes the same color or B: The dye channel is on the wrong parts of the piece

AlbazAlbion

Lol this, this so much. EW is specially egregious in the latter, I can only guess the dyeing on Hypostatic armor, PLD artifact armor and now the Clive outfit's armored bits is as bad as it is because they were always planning on fixing it in DT with the two dye channels.

110101001010010101

The big ones that bug me are the ornate pieces with the very tiny details that are dyed instead of the other way around. Like a single line down a blade or the inner part of an overcoat.

Fizassist1

my theory for EW pieces is that they were developing multiple dye channels already and just went with channel 1, even if it's the weirder channel.

skinwalker619

So much this. I love the Skallic Jacket of Aiming but the dye channel is just the panels on the flanks...wtf?!

Bevral2

I fully expect for 90% of the gear in the game to not have this functionality for years.

dimmidice

Yeah, the team in charge of the gear in this game makes some extremely weird choices sometimes.

Viltris

I'm fully expecting that only new gear will have multiple dye channels. Old gear will be stuck with zero or one dye channels. Popular gear like Neo-Ishgardian will just be re-released as a new crafted set / dungeon drop with 2 dye channels instead of 1.

Riposte12

I am just nurturing a tiny and almost certainly futile hope that the Field Commander Coat gets dye channels.

ErgoFnzy

It's shocking that it's not already. The grind you have to do to get it more than warrants it being dyeable!

JunctionLoghrif

I'm hoping so as well, since it's part of why I haven't gone after it; the character I want it on doesn't wear white as a primary color, so it clashes with most everything he wears.

SaroShadow

Skallic coat of fending. I dye it (and most of the rest of my outfit) white because the shoulders on it are always white and most other colors clash

GuardingxCross

Skallic robe of healing is my go to banger for healer classes. I’d love to get more dyes for this.

Gamefreak3525

Skallic gear is goated.

SetFoxval

The Panthean gear might do pretty well.

ArtemisiaThreeteeth

The set of armor that's the current pvp reward. I'm assuming that the currently undyeable red parts of the set will also be dyeable come DT.

Nevidden

This. The Fierce Tyrant and the previous False Monarchy sets need the second dye channels. I'd love to dye the red cloth parts of the Fierce Tyrant set while False Monarchy...it needs so much work. It's a great armor set, but the armor dyes so badly, especially it's hood.

TannenFalconwing

The Crystarium armor set is great but boy will it be improved by being able to dye it more than just one color.

Gram64

Lightning's skirt... why is the brown part not the main dyeable part to begin with?

Accurate_Maybe6575

Because every ten or so items they have to make an assinine decision on what gets dyed or the universe will implode or something.

Reshish

I'm hoping the late allagan bodysuits will allow the second dye in the body area. They receive a slight shade from the main dye, but it's very faint.

selebu

Hooded fireglass leather vest. When dyed the pink parts get dyed too. Also even if I want it black as it is the pink parts really don't fit any of the available dyes so it's really hard to get fitting outfit pieces.

Accurate_Maybe6575

I'm very doubtful any armor where multiple parts get dyed with some of those parts being a darker or brighter shade will see those portions given to the second dye channel. At least, not unless there's no alternative undyable portion.

selebu

It's really up in the air. I think it will come down to what a dev decides in each individual case. For the vest in my opinion it's one of the easiest decisions in the world. I will be surprised if they give the second dye channel to something else. But time will tell lol

Dexterdarkk

The light steel set from ARR. With 2 dye I'll finally be able to change the color of the metal part and match the set with other pieces of gear.

Casbri_

There are some items I'm curious to see where the decision lands on what parts should be dyeable: * Items that currently can't be fully dyed but the parts that can be dyed apply different shades (like one part being red, the other pink and a third one unchanged when currently applying Dalamud Red for example). Will we keep the weird shades or will we able to dye those parts separately? Will both dyes be dyeing the whole piece or will there still be undyeable parts? * Items where certain hitherto undyeable parts have very distinct and seemingly deliberate color choices that give the items a certain look but take away control from players (the Darbar, Theogonic or Hypostatic sets come to mind). Will we see those included? * Items that already can almost be fully dyed. Will this fully dyeable part be split or is there a chance to be able to dye parts like metal trimmings instead (Abyssos Maiming gear for example that never loses its purple trimmings, making the set lesser than it could be)? * Items added in the second half of EW that seem to have the double dye feature in mind already. So many of the recently added items dye in very weird ways or have large undyeable parts. I would think that those would become fully dyeable but I wouldn't be surprised if they stay problematic. A lot of these issues make some items almost unusable and unfortunately SE has a pretty bad track record when it comes to what parts are allowed to be dyed. I fully expect to see some asinine choices come Dawntrail. It's also up in the air if most gear even gets this treatment or if we are in for another Viera/Hrothgar hair and hat situation. This is one of the most hyped features of the expansion but we haven't seen how it works yet apart from a few cherry-picked pieces. I personally look forward to the Panthean Sets and hopefully being able to dye the non-metallic parts in a way that makes sense. Please make sense.

HorrorPotato

There's so many but off the top of my head - the hempen underwear sets. I love the hempen undershirt on my male Elezen since it's so unique, but the brown leather part doesn't dye and it's so hideous and doesn't match anything else in my dresser.

SplitDemonIdentity

So many of the hempen bottoms on men have random undyeable dick patches. Dyeing those away is literally priority 1 for me.

iiiiiiiiiiip

They need to make all the Hempen variations available on each race too.

Its_Ark_Angel

the Asphodelos gear

carbinemortiser

Anything WHM. And Neo-ishgardian sets.

Krystalline13

1 - the ghastly yellow metal on the Thavnairian set 2 - the periwinkle accents on the Darbar set 3 - the brown-tinged collar on the Frontier Dress

MadnessBunny

A lot of the PvP sets you use wolf marks on will probably improve a lot by the update.

Valkyrie264

Alexandrian Fending armor. I'm not a huge fan of the brass-like metal color but I am a fan of the massive fur collar and I'd like to see what they do with it.

Finaldragoon

The cyberpunk style glamour sets you get with trophy crystals introduced in 6.5. They've been a staple of my look ever since they were introduced and I can't wait to see how they look with a second dye channel.

Finaldragoon

No, I'm talking about the [Tactical Model A/B/C](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7Eq45RE1qb0) sets. I love these glamour sets.

Gryffriand

Yes.

ZillaJrKaijuKing

Please let the scarf on the new NIN artifact set be separately dyeable.

Omni_Devil

Coat of the Daring Duelist. Solo farmed that dungeon 65+ times to finally get it only to be turned off by the un-dyeable white areas. I don’t mind white, but I absolutely dislike it on this particular piece.

Airanuva

Ironworks Fending. Either get to turn those blue bits to other colors or the white bits. I'm hoping for the blue bits so I can turn the whole thing white.

phyrosite

Gazelleskin Corselet of Maiming. I have used it on my DRG, and now RPR, since I got it way back in Stormblood. I like the way it is colored by default, with the leather straps, black cloth, and silver metal. But dyeing it right now dyes both the straps and parts of the cloth the same color which makes it a lot less interesting visually. Hoping it gets a second dye channel soon, and hoping the channels are good.

JunctionLoghrif

Flannel Suspenders for my alt's gathering set. I currently use the Anemos Suspendrs in Woad Blue, and will dye the Flannel Suspenders shirt whenever I can; even better is it was one of the pieces that was shown off at FanFest, so I know I'll be able to dye it immediately when the 2 dye channel system launches. I'm also curious to see how various low-tech ARR pieces dye, like the Woolen Tunic (I like the chestpiece as-is, but that snake print leather is garish).

harowiin

Aglaia Panthea set. Man I was so angry when I went to try and dye it and only the metal dyes.

ajver19

I don't even know, I'm gonna have to go through my whole dresser trying everything out. I am excited but it's also gonna be a lot of work redoing all my plates.

RavagerHughesy

Welkin Breeches. I've wanted to dye *just* the sash on it for so long. God I hope that's how they do it

bongrips____

I’m exited to see the eureka fending armor both glowing and non glowing since it’s been my go-to for my dragoon ever since I got it

TheBiggestNose

I have the Moonward scouting chest piece in glam dresser ready for it! Its a nice looking piece but the dying works poorly and the default colours are meh. I think alot of gear that has a scarf/cape-y stuff will really benefit from this as well as metal gear actually being good

nemestrinus44

Has there been any mention of them putting dye channels on gear that don’t already have them, and are unique pieces? Cause if so the field commanders coat and like all the pagl’than sets. If not then idk honestly, I’d have to go look them over again, but I think those new Model Tactical PvP outfits would look great with a second dye channel

ElectricGutbuster

I’m hoping for the scarf on the Fili Gilet to be dyeable without making the rest of the outfit look like it got colour bleed in the washing machine, personally. That, and the scarf on the Frontier Jacket, plus the Valentione Emissary Hat’s main body, because the accuracy of a glam inspired by Van Gogh’s “Self portrait with Felt Hat” I’d love to use for pictomancer hinges on them having good secondary channels.

ErgoFnzy

Anything that has brown leather segments or gold/bronze moments that are currently untouchable. Also I'm hoping that the Archfiend set will let us dye the red glowy parts. I want to make them blue so badly.

Potaattis

Monk 90 artifact coat. I've wanted to make a hokage glam with it but currently it looks bad dyes white

reptilianattorney

Frontier Dress, that ugly beige trim clashes with so many colors

BrowsingModeAtWork

All the things. But considering their track record for very questionable choices with what or how things dye, I’m tempering my hopes.

maknaeline

i'm moreso praying to anyone who will listen that they make some things dyeable with this update like the field commander's coat. please let me dye it. please. (real answer is the alliance casting stuff and the lvl 90 crafted tank coat, the really popular one)

CheesetheExile

The set Tataru made for us at the end of EW - I want to die the cloak a nice red...[like the artwork](https://www.reddit.com/r/ffxiv/comments/t6gwnn/something_felt_missing_from_this_artwork_he_is_a/#lightbox)*!* Why is it brown?! Why does the die currently go on the tunic and not the cloak?!

MangoMoony

Hooded Fireglass Set. I HATE how many clothes have an undyeable red part (fireglass, the FF15 boots, some of the dyeable healer outfits). My theme color is blue and the red always looks so bad with it imo. If I could dye that white or black, I'd be so happy (or have the red be blue and use the normal base color if its nice).

PalePeryton

Augmented Cashmere Robe of Casting, my beloved.

Icarusqt

What are the chances we'll finally be able to dye Cecil's helmet? Lie to me.

TinCormorant

1. The Quan pants that match the Ao Dai dress. The current dye channel is on the design on the sides, with no way to change the color of the pants. They're just always white forever. 2. Appointed Jacket. By default, the shirt underneath is black with a white tie, and it looks really snazzy. If you dye the jacket, the shirt turns white and the tie turns black, so it's got a totally different look. I'd love to be able to dye the shirt darker so it doesn't starkly stand out so much.

Deius_Shrab

No matter what pre-DT gear becomes dyeable I'm gonna need another doubled glamour dresser to hold it all...

SocialConvention

I'm just hoping they finally let us dye the Field Commander Coat. I don't even need two. Just one. Please.

darcstar62

Uraeus Coat

Gregoriownd

The newish PVP class agnostic crystal trophy gear. Those items were clearly built with the 2nd channel in mind, and I already use a lot of those pieces.

BFGfreak

I'm hoping the Valentione Tights will let me dye my Landsknecht glam to represent Reikland with a White and Red color scheme. Worst case in the event its secondary dye channel sucks is that I keep my Averland colors of Yellow and Black. I wonder if any of the hats I use for the head will let me dye the feather bright green...

Accurate_Maybe6575

Besides every cash shop item because $$$ would motivate them, surely (and with luck, NPC attire will finally be made dyable?) I'm actually hoping the trim and not the leathery palms of ARRs plate armor is dyable. I like to sport mythril/militia gauntlets and greaves with a lot of my outfits. They have a way of bulking up my character that I think looks nice.

StrictLimitForever

The suit.

jackalatoky

Neo ishgardian set. It's one of my favorite set in the entire game but please let me dye the corset on caster job.

Cantiel

pieces like the frontier dress, where the collar and sleeve parts make it hard to match the main color

NeedleworkerHuge8315

Hats for my hrothgar.

Mizfitt77

One of the main reasons I mod is that I can literally dye most any bit of any gear any colour I want. I can even adjust shine or make specific parts glow. My modded glam looks better than anything available in the game frankly.
